troy sanders effects? anyone have any idea what he has?
0175westwood29 replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Effects
Yeh maybe have to wait a bit for new album board shots. Ive managed to find out his touring rig tho and its epic! Clean channel tc electronics blacksmith into 2 410's And his dirty channel, is either svt or a pro 4 into to mesa 810's And after listening to the blacksmith videos that is one hell of an amp! Andy -
im loving the new mastodon album! troys sound is massive! i know he has a clean and dirty set up and some beasty amps but am wandering if anyone knows what he has on his board? this is the sound im taking about! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwgqenxNUfs andy
The 6x10's are awesome but are friggin heavy too
+1 but its never really been a massive problem for me? as if the load in/out is on a flat with only a lift to the stage it can be rolled in and out and as i help my guitarist and drummer out with there stuff they can help if its a bit more than that. but size wise i managed to fit my amp, cab, bass and pedalboard in my 05 three door ford fiesta honeslty dnt worry about moving it around andy
+1!! Been contemplating this as well......Got two heads that will drive either 4 or 2 ohms.........hmmmmmm
im having dreams of 2 rigs basically a clean and a dirty, basically two of what i have now! one with all my dirt and then my chorus, delay and wah on both! id be in heaven! andy

as you can see i have the 610hlf, ive had a few rigs and am really happy with what i have at the minute. if im honest im actually thinking of adding another 610 to my collection at some point! before i bought it i was told that it can be boomy and id be better of getting a 410 115 set up but im so glad that i went for the single cab route, the 610 is 4 ohms so i get 750w out of my amp and its so loud! no need to get my amp past half normally! yes i have to be carefull with the bass knob on my amp but id do that anyway, i dnt use the tweeter and its so easy to move around as its got beasty casters which i use to pull it up stairs and its not that heavy i can lift it on my own its not a massive pain but you dnt have to as mostly you can use the casters. if you can try one out im sure you will love it! works well at low volumes and have i metioned that it looks epic! and also as was metioned above you def can feel the bass coming from this cab! and if you want the ampeg sound then surely the best thing to get is ampeg? andy

anyone use the electroharmonix pulsar trem on there bass?
0175westwood29 replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Effects
I used one a while ago and found it actually rather good. as above, would have preferred a tap tempo function, but for making wobb;y noises whilst playing bass chords it did the job. HTH.
yeh id only want to use it in some short passages and breakdowns? although i have started looking at a line 6 mm4 but im thinking ill gamble on the pulsar first. andy -
well i use my boss bf-3 to sound kinda like a chorus? but ive always used separate pedals? can use both effects then.... not that u'd probs want to tho! andy

The best distortion for me (sound like a whole band)
0175westwood29 replied to matt_citizenbass's topic in Effects
Possibly any pedal with an EQ of some description. The Boss ODB-3 can get quite distorted Apparently the intro to Around The World by the Chilis is done using one of these. I know its an overdrive pedal but I could never get it to overdrive the way I wanted it before the distortion set in
it is indeed, you do have to watch how high you have the gain as it can get fuzzy but you can also use it as a clean boost which i have before and put it after a metal muff and its sounded really nice a crunchy! . you could always grab the boss ls-2 and blend some clean signal back in to your sound? thats if you like the dist you have at the min andy -
My DB751 stopped working at band practice about 5 months ago, the self diagnostic did his job and everything seemed to be OK but still no sound so I open it up and it was just one of the Preamp Valves that had gone bad...I replaced it and that was it. Hope this helps mate.
now that sounds exactly like what happened! tech this morning so fingers crossed! andy -
Didn't intend to cast aspersions on your ability to eliminate the obvious Andy. Sometimes it's worth stating the obvious to posters as some may not have the experience (as you have) to try and eliminate the most obvious causes!
oh believe took about three people taking to me to make me check everything! was freaking out that amp is like my baby! ive got hold of where i bought so gonna try and take it up there tomoz! fingers crossed he can fix it then and there! just thinking is there any way to damage the tubes by putting to much gain/distortion into the front of the amp? just thinking of what i was doing when it stopped? andy -
Take the guitar lead, amp/speaker cable and mains cable you were using with the DB750 and try those with a different amp and different cab (you'd be amazed how many people say they have done that and it turns out they have just taken the guitar lead... or tried neither), if they work try replacing your DB750 into that signal chain; that at least rules out any external factor and indicates it is defo your amp! Honestly there is nothing more embarrassing than when a repair guy powers it up and it works fine because it was something else in the set-up.
hi i think some of you guys must be misunderstanding my first post. ive tested my cab using another amp my drummer v4 and it sounds like its ok nothing wrong there, in doing that i used the same signal chain as i had with my aggie and to run the new head i used the power lead from my aggie. the speakon cable was proved as it was running our monitiors for our vocals so thats good. and just incase i changed the batteries on my bass and also tried a guitar thru my amp and still nadda! also i just remembered i lleft the amp off for about 20mins before trying it again and still the same thing! i was just really confused! everything said it should work! the diag went all the way thru and doesnt flash at all! didnt even flash when it happened! andy -
Have you checked a signal is actually reaching the amp? Have you plugged into anything else with you bass to check that?

I'd also see if there was anything coming out of the XLR out just to cover all ports of call
are pa isnt at our reheasal due to the gig so i couldnt try that, and yeh as i said above you might have missed it tho? i plugged into a trace v4 for the last half hour of our practice and also the guitarists marhsall mode 4 and all worked fine. so im kinda stuck! trying to get hold of the place i got it to take it in tomoz morning! andy -

See this is where its freaking me a bit, i went home and found that in my catalogue, but it goes thru the diagnostic and allows me to take it of stanby and the led never flashed? Just no sound coming out i know the leads are good, the tubes would come up in the diag? Mh bass and all those cables are good? My cab seems ok!? No farting etc before hand, and i played for about 30 mins after to make sure with our drummers trace elliot v4 head? Any more ideas? The output fuse is there a reset for it on the back? Didnt look last night was panicking! Andy -

thanks for the replies guys! im trying not to freakout! changed my guitar lead, the speakon to the cab, changed the input im usingfor the speakon and still no joy! im not sure but the light that flashes before the amps ready to use looked like it was flashing a bit faster but it still goes thru the whole diagnostic thing and allows me to turn it on? does that not check for fuses? etc? anyone know what type of fuse it could be? andy -
hi guys im really hoping some of you can help as im freaking out a bit! was at practice with my band, and as we have a gig on saturday(oct 1st) we were running our whole set list about 2 and a half hours of stuff! well were were going along just fine did our cover of teenage kicks amp had been sounding awesome! had some fuzz and delay going on. finished that song and the guitarist broke his e string, as he was trying to find a new one i was noodling around and talking to our drummer. then he couldnt find one so we decided to play on without him, then i heard a slight click, not that loud at all just vagely noticed then no noise! nothing my amp was on and nothing had changed from a second ago when it sounded awesome! wasnt hot, dnt think i was pushing it etc, sounded wicked in the last song id played! any ideas ive got a gig sat and really wanted to play this amp as i finally had my rig sounding how i wanted! please help! andy

my pedal board has grown over the last year as i wanted to add something extra! my band does a few covers like parallel universe, and i like to kick in a fuzz or od in the chorus as it helps give it a kick and obviously then people notice the effect or at least the effect it had on the song. and then there are times when we decide to make a cover totally diferent like the kinks all day and all of the night where i have my swollen pickle on! but on our own stuff ill always play it clean first then wonder what i can add to make it sound better! if nothing does then ill leave it clean. andy
