1.
If you're making 2x10 cabs, then use 16Ω drivers to get 8Ω cabs.
Ok so if i were to buy 2x http://www.thomann.de/gb/celestion_bl10_100_16_ohms.htm this would make 1 8ohm cab? Then If i made another 2x10 cab with the same speakers, and linked them together to a Gallien Kruegar 400RB-IV (which I am thinking of buying as an entry level head) it would maybe work okay in theory? Again, sorry if I sound like a dumb ass, I am really out of my element with cabs and the like
2. Ok, so I'm building a bass cab with a friend of mine, and at first the speakers are going to be cheap as chips, and I'm expecting to upgrade when I have more money. I'm making a 2x10 and a 1x15. Ok, so, the head that I am thinking of buying states that I can use 2 cabs if they are both 8 ohm, and not one 8ohm and one 4ohm. So, my first question is, if I buy 2x celestion BL10-100 at 8 ohms for the 2x10, will that be okay to use with a 15" speaker at 8ohms? The reason I ask is, I really know nothing about speakers and I was worried that the ohms in each speaker add together (e.g. 2x10" speakers at 8 ohm each making a 16ohm cab?) Thanks for bearing with me, and I hope you all don't laugh at my bad grammer and speaker knowledge too much Cheers Tom
3. Cheers guys. I was considering using a power amp, just didn't know if it was as good as an actual head. I'll probably end up going for the cheapest solution. Thanks for the great advice (Y)
4. Hey guys. I play in a band called Mask Of Virtue and we pretty much play alt metal with electronics and sequencing. At the moment all I use is a bass driver DI box and borrow an amp at gigs if I need to, if not I just play straight through the P.A. I'm looking for a rack mounted head at the minute and the only suggestions I get is an ampeg SVT and to be honest they are a little bit too expensive. I'm looking for something in the £200-£400 region and I don't mind second hand gear. I love the punchy "clangy" tone that I'm getting from my pedal (presence and blend are always maxed) and I normally gig with my LTD B-5E which works perfectly. I just wondered if anyone could help me out with a cheap alternative to an SVT that will kick out the same sort of power and tone that I get from my pedal (Obviously I will be using the pedal with the amp, I guess i need something that will work great with the pedal) I have been playing for like 5 or 6 years now and I have only ever owned one laney combo, which I still have, but it's on its last legs and I don't like it anymore haha. So my point is I literally know nothing about amps and heads. Any help is appriciated. Cheers! Tom http://www.facebook.com/themaskofvirtue
