1.
I used one a while ago and found it actually rather good. as above, would have preferred a tap tempo function, but for making wobb;y noises whilst playing bass chords it did the job. HTH.
yeh id only want to use it in some short passages and breakdowns? although i have started looking at a line 6 mm4 but im thinking ill gamble on the pulsar first. andy
 2. well i use my boss bf-3 to sound kinda like a chorus? but ive always used separate pedals? can use both effects then.... not that u'd probs want to tho! andy
 3. looking at getting this or something in a similar vein, sounds amazing on guitar. anyone tell me if its a good trem for bass? hows it stack up to the boss say? thanks andy
 4.
Possibly any pedal with an EQ of some description. The Boss ODB-3 can get quite distorted Apparently the intro to Around The World by the Chilis is done using one of these. I know its an overdrive pedal but I could never get it to overdrive the way I wanted it before the distortion set in
it is indeed, you do have to watch how high you have the gain as it can get fuzzy but you can also use it as a clean boost which i have before and put it after a metal muff and its sounded really nice a crunchy! . you could always grab the boss ls-2 and blend some clean signal back in to your sound? thats if you like the dist you have at the min andy
 5.
You have checked the master volume right? let us know how you get on with the tech
yeh man indeed i did. took it to the tech this morn! he said it sounds like a tube could have gone? but on the good side he did lend me a db750 so i still had an amp for the gig tonight! andy
 6.
My DB751 stopped working at band practice about 5 months ago, the self diagnostic did his job and everything seemed to be OK but still no sound so I open it up and it was just one of the Preamp Valves that had gone bad...I replaced it and that was it. Hope this helps mate.
now that sounds exactly like what happened! tech this morning so fingers crossed! andy
 7. heres my board a before and after shot ( basically me tidying it up! ) then the now obligatory night shot! 8.
Didn't intend to cast aspersions on your ability to eliminate the obvious Andy. Sometimes it's worth stating the obvious to posters as some may not have the experience (as you have) to try and eliminate the most obvious causes!
oh believe took about three people taking to me to make me check everything! was freaking out that amp is like my baby! ive got hold of where i bought so gonna try and take it up there tomoz! fingers crossed he can fix it then and there! just thinking is there any way to damage the tubes by putting to much gain/distortion into the front of the amp? just thinking of what i was doing when it stopped? andy
 9.
Take the guitar lead, amp/speaker cable and mains cable you were using with the DB750 and try those with a different amp and different cab (you'd be amazed how many people say they have done that and it turns out they have just taken the guitar lead... or tried neither), if they work try replacing your DB750 into that signal chain; that at least rules out any external factor and indicates it is defo your amp! Honestly there is nothing more embarrassing than when a repair guy powers it up and it works fine because it was something else in the set-up.
hi i think some of you guys must be misunderstanding my first post. ive tested my cab using another amp my drummer v4 and it sounds like its ok nothing wrong there, in doing that i used the same signal chain as i had with my aggie and to run the new head i used the power lead from my aggie. the speakon cable was proved as it was running our monitiors for our vocals so thats good. and just incase i changed the batteries on my bass and also tried a guitar thru my amp and still nadda! also i just remembered i lleft the amp off for about 20mins before trying it again and still the same thing! i was just really confused! everything said it should work! the diag went all the way thru and doesnt flash at all! didnt even flash when it happened! andy
 10.
Have you checked a signal is actually reaching the amp? Have you plugged into anything else with you bass to check that?

I'd also see if there was anything coming out of the XLR out just to cover all ports of call
are pa isnt at our reheasal due to the gig so i couldnt try that, and yeh as i said above you might have missed it tho? i plugged into a trace v4 for the last half hour of our practice and also the guitarists marhsall mode 4 and all worked fine. so im kinda stuck! trying to get hold of the place i got it to take it in tomoz morning! andy
 11. See this is where its freaking me a bit, i went home and found that in my catalogue, but it goes thru the diagnostic and allows me to take it of stanby and the led never flashed? Just no sound coming out i know the leads are good, the tubes would come up in the diag? Mh bass and all those cables are good? My cab seems ok!? No farting etc before hand, and i played for about 30 mins after to make sure with our drummers trace elliot v4 head? Any more ideas? The output fuse is there a reset for it on the back? Didnt look last night was panicking! Andy
 12. thanks for the replies guys! im trying not to freakout! changed my guitar lead, the speakon to the cab, changed the input im usingfor the speakon and still no joy! im not sure but the light that flashes before the amps ready to use looked like it was flashing a bit faster but it still goes thru the whole diagnostic thing and allows me to turn it on? does that not check for fuses? etc? anyone know what type of fuse it could be? andy
 13. hi guys im really hoping some of you can help as im freaking out a bit! was at practice with my band, and as we have a gig on saturday(oct 1st) we were running our whole set list about 2 and a half hours of stuff! well were were going along just fine did our cover of teenage kicks amp had been sounding awesome! had some fuzz and delay going on. finished that song and the guitarist broke his e string, as he was trying to find a new one i was noodling around and talking to our drummer. then he couldnt find one so we decided to play on without him, then i heard a slight click, not that loud at all just vagely noticed then no noise! nothing my amp was on and nothing had changed from a second ago when it sounded awesome! wasnt hot, dnt think i was pushing it etc, sounded wicked in the last song id played! any ideas ive got a gig sat and really wanted to play this amp as i finally had my rig sounding how i wanted! please help! andy
 14. my pedal board has grown over the last year as i wanted to add something extra! my band does a few covers like parallel universe, and i like to kick in a fuzz or od in the chorus as it helps give it a kick and obviously then people notice the effect or at least the effect it had on the song. and then there are times when we decide to make a cover totally diferent like the kinks all day and all of the night where i have my swollen pickle on! but on our own stuff ill always play it clean first then wonder what i can add to make it sound better! if nothing does then ill leave it clean. andy
 15.
Yeah. 45"x21" with a 'bridge' running the whole length. Going to rock. All based on a specific layout that's far more ergonomic than my current one.
sweet man. i need to post my board up a on here as its changed a bit. andy
 16. your board does look sweet! are you getting a teared board made? andy
 17. shep that board looks sweet! how heavy is the whammy! the 4 is heavy enough! andy
 18. ive seen a few videos online looks awesome! so anyone out there tried it? andy
 19.
A lot depends on what features you need, if you've already got music in mind... If you're going to be doing long loops, then that knocks out the Akai Headrush and Line6 DL4, even though they are both very 'musical' pedals to use. I love using the DL4, especially with an expression pedal hooked up as well (can then do fades, and/or bring in and out delay over the loop). For the longer loop time pedals, Boss and Digitech have both recently revamped their lines, so I've not had a chance to try them out yet - the RC20xl was a pretty well designed pedal (though about 1 in 5 times I see someone use it they've accidentally turned on the metronome, and you get an effing loud snare drum instead of the first loop...). The RC50 was 'nearly' great. Too many glitches in the software to be truly magic, and now they've discontinued it. Great things can be done with it though - I guested with beatboxer Shlomo on his show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and he gets some serious mileage from it. Digitech have a new larger looper with delays in in as well - looks to be half way between the earlier jamman pedal and the DL4. Def. worth a look. The Looperlative is unbelievable, but a serious investment. Nothing in the hardware world comes close (though there are a few cool software loopers around, if you trust your laptop/OS enough. I don't ) There's also the Gibson Echoplex, Electrix Repeater and Lexicon JamMan if you're buying used, but check out the feature set on each of them first... cheers Steve www.stevelawson.net
thanks man ill be sure to check them out. the rc-30 is looking fave at the min, need to give it a try really tho as like you ive seen people turn the drums on! only need shortish loops but i dnt really need all the delay stuff that comes with the akai and the dl4. might be time to go to the guitar shop and sit down and try some out! andy
 20.
I recently bought an Octaswitch and it's solved my pedal and loop switching problems. Really simple to use, no programming or sifting through banks, just set up the loops you want using the switches and play. They can be had for a fraction of the price of other systems too. A great bit of kit and although it is rather chunky it totally justifies it's place on my board. Get one.
cool another thing i can look at! the musicom efx would be my ideal but its seems impossible to find second hand! even thought of the unthinkable of selling all my stomps and getting bar the whammy and getting an line 6 m13 but im not convinced about the dirt in the m13 sounds wicked on guitar but a tad thin on bass from what ive seen, thats just me tho! not slagging the m13! andy
 21.
Short of the Looperlative, the best looper in my opinion is the Boomerang III. Its a brilliant, compact multitrack looper that is so easy to use its ridiculous!
is that the rackmounted one that steve lawson uses? thats a bit much for me, ive been looking at the rc-30xl looks interesting and much better than the rc-20 in that it has more recording time and some interesting effects! but i do have a question i know it has stereo outs but do you have to use these to use the dual channels? im thinking not but i just wanna check? andy
 22.
I've just downgraded from the rather cool Digitech Stereo JamMan. I wanted a single pedal that I could chuck in my gig bag instead and have just bought the Boss RC3. I'd say that the JamMan, having more buttons and functionality would make it better for live annnnnnd you can connect further footswitches to the pedal for it's other operations. I think if I were to use the rc3 for live looping too, I'd grab the 2 pedal footswitch to cut down on on stage tap dancing. For other loopers, take a look at Electroharmonix, Akai, Eventide and for the daddy of loopers, Looperlative.
Mmmm the eventide is interesting but id rather get a pitchfactor from them, the electroharmonix is a bit big for my liking the akai's pretty cool but im leaning towards the old school and probs boring boss atm! just looks a bit easier to use on the fly, as mainly it will be being used for live use. im thinking of sending the looped signal to a external source, as the loops i want to make are octave down and overdriven sounds and my normal tone is high gain and a bit dirty so im a little concerned about the abuse that my cab would have to take at live volume, thinking of getting a small di box and sending the looper stuff to the pa. andy
 23.
I use the twin pedal RC20 XL.I find it a lot easier to use than the single pedal version. I also run it through my rig like I would with any other pedal.
cool, i know the double pedal has a fade out option which is pretty good. kk gonna have to start looking on the bay and here for one then me thinks. andy
 24. boss odb-3 seriously dnt believe what people say its a really nice overdrive! you just have to play with it a bit! andy
