ah ok guys i see your point, but on the flip side does this just not mean several posts about the same thing? ie ill now have to post again? andy -
Just go out of the head into the first cab and then link the cabs together Andy
-
as the title states my wanted add is not visible as its gone down the list, yet cant bump it back to being visible is there a reason? i know people will find it with the search but i seem unable to respond to anything in that section, having paid £20 to use the section for a year how come i cant fully use it? andy

sounds like a beast, keeps up really well with the modulus just a process of getting used to it now. andy

i just got a rack eq and the boss limiter to help protect my amp as i tune low and use fuzz and octaves so just wanted the limiter to catch the peaks and then use the rack eq to do the job of a thumpinator as it has a 25hz high pass but can do a bit of added shaping with it as well. andy

Looks like the vintage version of the b7k. Not that exciting for me but a good idea Andy
-
have you tried any cabinets with it? or what do you have at the minute? andy

without restringing or buying say a detuner to open up those extra few notes, id say as you already have the 5 and if your happy with it id go with that. i have two because my basses are in different tuning to make my life easy andy
All I'm saying is you questioned how a 1x12 could "beat" an 8x10 and suggested a placebo effect; I merely offered a reason as to why a 1x12 might be perceived to "beat" an 8x10 Edit: not sure I explained myself well in the first post on this matter
i get you dude its ok andy
-
Maybe the 8x10 is a particularly crap example of the 8x10 concept, and also bear in mind the comparison was centred around the tone of the cabs. The 1x12 is more focused in the mids due to a superior (probably!) design so the perceived superior volume is easy to understand in context
cant really compare the tones of an 810 to a 112 fairly though can you? andy

ive got a beasty mutli unit coming from tom!
This is the other main supplier http://www.bluearan.com/
thanks man, think ill go the route of ply with a laminate top, hopefully can start building once ive been paid and get the main body of the cab done then grab speakers over a few months andy
-
i think thats just a way of running both channels at the same time bud. andy
Ah the 410 will be in the van with all their other kit. One thing about the Hartke which surprised me was the weight: 38Kg (84lb) ! Deffo do not want that landing on your foots
well the weight is probs down to it being a combo, give it a try hes probs judged it before even hearing it at gig volume andy
-
hi guys im gonna grab an 810 soon hopefully, but i would also like to make a cab aswell, for experience anyone have any links to where i could find 10" speakers? and can i used any inch think ply? found this link but are there anywhere cheaper? http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/pair-pack-x2-eminence-legend-b810-32ohm-10-150watt-speaker-p-1137.html andy
Thanks for the replies. They do not play loud but the regular bass player (old school with attitude, tending to what I at least think is an overly thick & dead sound) poured scorn on my using the Hartke alone. He clearly thought me a dangerous modernist heretic when I told him I had just started to use a Bass Big Muff pi. But I will take it a long just to see how it goes. Given a decent input level and not killing it via duff tone stack settings seems loud enough to me but never know how it will pan out.
ive had this with my a guy turned up with my orange rig his first words were "well its not ampeg" give the 210 a try as it will soave you lugging a big 410 cab to the gig. andy
The solution to any overdrive/DI related issue has been the same for me for years. The Tech21 VTBass (clean setting) as last filter on my pedal board is my eapon of choice. Any fuzz, overdrive or distortion you put before this has its unpeasant highs filtered by the VT and does sound great in the DI. I hat multi channel live recordings made using this chain and , on the one hand a A-Designs REDDI, and the other hand an aguilar TH500, TecAmp610 cab miked with a Heil PR40. Both signals sounded VERY close! I dont bother using the expensive PR40 anymore in a live setting.
Get some of the drive from my head so thats no gd Andy
I got my eq yesterday, very happy with it. I like the 6db/12db switch, it provides the option of how extreme you want to be
Indeed plus using the low cut is a nice bit of protection
-
It,s good presence is,I ike it a lot. so it,s a high pass filter It,s independant from treble then ?
Yeh id imagine so it will seem like its boosting the high as its cutting the lows Andy

that sucks! andy
yeh it depends entirely upon the sound guy but running one extra channel takes exactly 2 seconds and if you've even given him a suggestion on how to mix it moving on from that would be to turn up with a lead and a stand so he has nothing to do this is what really frustrates me about other sound engineers and gives the rest of us who actually give a sh*t (yes there are a few of us about) a bad name
yep that what im gonna do i think just say plug this in, and if i get the 609 i can hang over the front of my cab. indeed my plan is to do this but cause as little trouble for them as possible andy
-
yup what he said really you've just got to be careful that all your pedals are balanced pre gig. to the OP running a mic and di signal into a little mixer would work and you would send the sound guy a complete signal of how you want it to sound however if it was me engineering the gig i would ask for them separately. the reason for this is that i might decide that theres a part of your sound the mix needs more of at a certain point for example if things are getting a bit muddy then i'd try using a bit of your clean(ish) signal to make you cut through a bit more and vice versa however if i'm being sent a pre mixed signal then i'm limited as to what i can do its more of a set it and leave it deal which is fine as its less work but means i can't get the best possible mix to make the band sound good my best option would be to purchase yourself a nice mic something like a 609 would be great and say to the house sound guy that you'd like to be mic'ed because it helps for your tone to carry across better and if he sets it up to about a 70/30 split on his desk (i think you mentioned that as about your sound earlier in the tread) then work from their this way it appears like you've done your homework you've made his life as easy a possible and he then has the facility to tweak as the room and the mix requires
this is pretty much what i think im going to do, my worry is a sound guy saying theres no time and being a bit teasy at having to run a second cable or just ignoring the mic and just plugging in something but not using it. but its worth a try so im gonna grab a 609 in the next month or so, got some good quality xlr's so can just give them the cable and say heres my mic and plug there di in. andy
So to mildly hijack this thread a bit - IED are looking to do our first 'proper' gigs - we both have mostly virtual kit and like it that way! If i were to turn up with my 'rig' as is: a bunch of pedals (including a sansamp copy) and a DI box, would this make FOH engineers happy or sad?
honestly they wnt mind, its a straight di to them andy
