The 1000 is scary loud never goes close to 10 o clock, i use mine with a obc 410 so a 600w i think cabinet and its fine. You'll have more headroom with the 1000 but depends if you need that as the 500 is loud! Andy

i used to use the blue triangle dunlop picks, not sure of thickness, always worked for me, just use what feels comfortable. andy

i use a mesa boogie flux drive to push my amp into a really nice heavy overdrive which can get the attack that i like. also if i dime the gain on the terror it gets pretty brutal andy

someone wants to be the edge of bass?! i use to have a mxr carbon copy and ehx memory boy, to be honest i used them totally wrong as modulated reverb to fill out the sound of my old 3 piece. they were very nice delays tho, really nice dark repeats i always used to try and write around the delay make a point of it. andy

dnt be intimidated by players who have been playing for years, use them as inspiration the first players who inspired me to pick up the bass were people like cliff burton, geezer butler, geddy lee and justin chancellor. some crazy good players but they all had to start somewhere so just remember dnt feel down just because you dnt become awesome in the first few weeks dude. finding people to play with always helps you progress, if you can play with a drummer really helps you progress! ifound my current band through friends on facebook but before that my very first band met on gumtree! andy

i spend alot of my time on youtube! looking at product reviews, music videos and interviews of bands i like. occasionally ill get a link pop up to a band ive never heard of, and recently this making me look bad as most of the new bands i find have female bassists or lead singers!!! kinda hard to say i found this new band like their music, everyone just thinks im a bit of a perv! ie the first time i said i was loving the music from a Brazilian all girl metal band the first words from a friend were " oh yeh Brazilian!
