1. Awesome, i'm still hoping to have sold my tobias and bought a bongo by then, if so i'll bring that along and my SUB project if it's functioning by then!
2. Anything our german friend has for sale (A LOT!)
3.
Since my earlier post, I've done a deal on a Stingray. Given my "agreement" with Mrs 1964 (1 bass in = 1 bass out....), my $$ will be up for sale again as of tonight. If anyone wants one at £450 PM me!
Oooh, you are a tease, i've been GASing for one! And i thought you didn't like your old stingray?
4. Yeah, i've never seen a bad review in there.... but then again, i've never really seen them review anything that i would class as "crap", they tend to give you a good idea of what gives you how much bang for your buck though, though it would have been nice for them to give the 25 beginner basses in the last issue or the issue before or whatever a rating, because some of that stuff i wouldn't have touched, having already owned some of them.
5. No worries Should be interesting to see if you do go with it!
6. With regards to the pickup conundrum, if you wanted something very interesting, italia do a bass with sideways mounted single coil lipstick pickups, that could be an idea?

my SUB bass won't be going anywhere i don't think. I've had it a year, and i just love the sound, the looks and the playability, and now they're discontinued they can only become more valuable!
9. I know what you mean about the pickup being like a ramp. The newer musicman basses have a similar style of pickup too(except they curve inwards rather than out), and i really don't like it because it's not as solid a thumb rest as the old style ones like on my SUB. The bongo i'm after has pickups like this, but i'll force myself to get used to it because in every other respect it's near enough perfect. Maybe you could find someone with the same coloured bass but with the old style pickups, because i'm sure the $$ corvettes used to have those trad style MM pickups with the lugs too.
10. Very pro looking though!
11. Nice! What a tosser!
12.
Supposedly the canterbury area has the greatest pub density of anywhere in the uk......
Nah, that would be nottingham
13. I'd say musicman because they sound so awesome. One of my basses has a status musicman type pickup in it, and it just sounds like mud.
14. You can certainly do worse, that's for sure
15. I think that anyone should be allowed to come, really. Basschat is a community where anyone can join, yeah it would be nice to have a hello before someone we don't know pops in, but like i say, there may be someone who's interested in starting up who may want to come along and see what's what, but i think it's a bit harsh to just say no, though for the sake of argument, i'll establish a few ground rules. 1. Any none basschatter should accompanied by a basschatter, and let us know if you're going to be bringing someone, though excluding people isn't what we want, obvously we don't want every tom dick and harry coming along. 2. Don't bring too many non-bass chatters, this space is paid for by basschat i suppose and it is a basschat event, but i'll leave it up to you as to what constitutes "too many", just be sensible. 3. If you do bring someone, make sure you know them at least, we all respect our gear and we expect everyone else to act accordingly. I think that sounds fair, lets keep the hostility to a minimum, yeah?
16. Haha, damn, i wanted to know if the ashtrays were original or not
17. Ah ok, i think they were discontinued some time ago anyway, i've only ever seen a couple on ebay, could have been something to do with the luthite body being too brittle and those horns being rather thin.
18. You could sit with it on your lap, but not much more i think!! Nice headstock by the way, looks kinda MTD.
19. I'm trying hard not to dig into my pockets right now! I'm trying to save for a bongo but i'm a sucker for old neck thru japcrap! Good luck with the sale matey, it looks lovely!
20. Good to see the ray still hasn't gone anywhere kev, she's something special
21. That looks cool, really reminds me of a ritter or an ibanez EDA900 Any headstock ideas yet? And i think you could probably get away with making the bottom horn a bit small and less phallic, if that's what you're going for. Also, you really remind me of Martin Clunes!
22. Stick in the for sale forum mate, you'll get more interest
23. Ooh that's gorgeous!
24. this should be interesting!
