A Dingwall was a possibility, but I was concerned about string availability and choice, especially in a 6. Thanks, I've liked other Bongos I've tried. Hopefully, this one will be no different.
-
Um.... I'm not sure?
-
Yes (but the Cherry one, not the white one!) Edit- didn't realise the white one was a 5HH. It wasn't on the radar..
-
Uh... it's quite large, has too many strings and resembles a toilet seat. Not entirely sure it'd be to your liking!

Just ordered a something from them. First time I've tried using Bass Direct. Let's see how it goes... 🤞

Does anyone know if there are any tuners that are a direct drop-in replacement for the standard Warwick units. I've had 5 fail on my 2002 Infinity, 2 of which were replacement Warwick units. They're just made of really soft metal and keep stripping themselves during tuning. Ideally good quality- Schaller, Hipshot etc.

By the way, "Zardoz" was set in 2023... OK. It was 2293.. And didn't she have a relationship with a keyboard player?

Before his TIM.

I had thought to look into an EHB 1506 or 1006. Or a similarly priced Dingwall. The Ibanez score highly due to my ability to use my string of choice (Elixirs) and their compactness. One of the 6- string Combustions looks rather nice, but I get the feeling that I'll be stuck with their strings, which my sweat will eat instantly.

Mine has become my plug-and- play go to for headphones. I don't even use the app much, as the first 4 patches (accessible via the device) are enough. Just plug in, connect it to a tablet (better for Spotify) and play along.

Musicman Stingray - Such a love/hate relationship

I had a '90 Fretless Ray5. I regret selling it, but since have acquired 2 other (albeit fretted) alternatives; Warwick Fortress Masterman 5 Ibanez EDC 715 Both have really good pickups- The Ibanez has the one from the ATK, plus it's got arguably better coil switching than even the SR5. Both were SH, and collectively cost about half what a new SR5 would. -
Started with a P. Didn't really gel with it. Had a J. Even though it was nice, it lacked "clout". Had a Yamaha Attitude, but you need 2 amps or FX capable of parallel-processing both pickups' outputs. Bought a G&L SB-2 Tribute on here. It's great. Dial in a tone and leave it alone for the night. I like the down- sized body, too. Less cumbersome than the Fender items.

It is a shame. Bought a nice Jazz there once.

Looks like the same preamp as the Active Hohner Jack and B2A. Vol/Vol, Bass & Treble stack. Active/ (true) passive switch- it'll work with a flat battery in passive mode. There should be a trim pot accessible through a hole in the cavity cover that can be used to adjust the output of the EQ section to match the passive mode if needed. Should sound pretty good. My B2A5 does quite a good "super-jazz" impersonation- it has J/J pickups, too.

I reckon Marcus probably owns a Stanley sig, for what it's worth...

And then there was the time that two gentlemen intent upon relieving me of my Warwick chased me across Leicester Square. It was evening, and still light. Plenty of people around. Fortunately, I'd parked nearby and made it to the car. That's the only one I've had, but it was a close call and I'd think twice about playing in London. I'm not as quick on my feet as I used to be...

Best pick ups for rock in a jazz bass

That worked best for me on my S1 also... -
That's crappy news 😔 Best of luck with the Op and recovery process... Someone suggested a bass uke. I tried a Kala U bass yesterday, and was surprised how good it was with its wee rubber strings. Otherwise, Chapman Sticks are hilariously light and can be played seated. They just take forever to learn to play well.

To turn a BC (or was it BassWorld?) phrase; "I don't have TIM for this!"

Find a piece of equipment that both you and your student can plug into simultaneously and play through together without having to adjust anything. A little mixing desk, perhaps. I got stuck with the active input of an amp while my teacher had the passive one. We both had active basses. Mine sounded crap and his sounded good. Even when we swapped. Tuition didn't last. Bass playing did. If you disenfranchise your students, they'll leave and/or give up.

Oh. You missed the unsustainable final salary schemes the Boomers had that those who followed either had closed part way through or were denied completely. Boomers may have started "poor" and got richer, but later generations will start mediocre at best and get poorer. Not to worry. Life expectancy is beginning to fall, so it'll even itself out in the end 😉 I agree, though. Led by Donkeys. Or maybe Ostriches.
