  1. +1 for the Audient, take a look at the iD14 too if you think you might need more (8) inputs in the future.
  2. I'm running logic 10.7 on an 2021 MacBook Air M1, with 8gb. Runs much better than the 2017 MacBook Pro with i7 and 16gb ram that I was using before. Ram isnt capped at 8gb BTW, you can specify it with 16GB at order. However M1s use RAM far more efficiently than Intel Macs so you'll probably find 8gb sufficient
  3. Well the replacement cable didn't fix the issue. I did a factory reset on the pedal, set the sync on the pedal to internal, set the output clock to on. plugged the cable into midi out from the pedal -> midi in on my MPC (set the MPC to slave to incoming clock)... pressed play on the pedal, and no midi clock sent to MPC Any ideas?
  4. I've ordered quite a bit of stuff over the past 2-3 years from them, never had any issues, stuff gets ordered on website, arrives a couple of days later well packed.
  5. Yes I need a trs from the pedal to a 5pin din on the MPC.. I can see how it could get mighty confusing if it was trs to trs and they were different standards. We never had any of these problems when all midi interfaces / gear was on 5pin din !
  6. Of course, I bought the cheapest one (cable) I could find from eBay! I think you've hit the nail on the head about the wiring of the cable - I've ordered the 'official' Boss cable now which I'm hoping will fix it.
  7. It's really great fun. I have it set up with a Fender ABY pedal so my daughter can play guitar & I can play bass, going back and forth
  8. Has anybody here got any experience with a Boss RC-10r loop pedal? I bought this one specifically because it has a midi out jack and I understood it would be able to drive MIDI clock from the loop/internal rhythm. I've set it to send midi clock in the menu, however its sending nothing.. great fun just using the loops with the internal drums though. Really want it to be driving my MPC though.
  9. Sad news, RIP Martin, I only dealt with him once - but a true gent
  10. I had some store credit at PMT that I needed to use, and bought an SM57 as I couldn't think of anything else I could possibly need. I don't really even need another SM57, so my misfortune is your gain. Haven't even taken it out of the box. £75 cleared funds, gets it shipped to your door fully inclusive. Please see receipt, so you can see that it is a genuine sale.
  11. When I moved from the UK -> USA -> UK a few years back I used a freight forwarding company called Panalpina to move all my stuff (they do this sort of stuff all the time). They dealt with all the paperwork & I didn't have to pay any tax. They also got the goods door to door in one piece! I'd definitely advocate getting professionals to do it rather than chancing your arm with self-arranged couriers and DIY forms
  12. Makes the 'incredible sound proof room' a bit redundant though I was thinking as the OP (or his drummer) had gone to the trouble and expense of building it, then play in it using headphones a bit daft. Unless of course they live under Heathrow flight path and are trying to keep the sound out rather than in!
  13. Even simpler solution. You could get away without any audio interface..... route DI from your bass, DI from his Drums, and the line out from the MacBook into the mixer. As you have a soundproof room, why on earth would you use headphones? Take the output from the mixer into his Drum Monitors, and voila!
  14. Maybe they had some fixed capital costs (or other one off expense) in 2020 that they didn't have in 2015. I wouldn't read too much into it
  15. Of late I have been spending too much time in GG and GAK looking at Fenders (guitars rather than basses). I tried everything from Squier Classic Vibes, right up to American Ultras (and a few special editions in between). The absolute worst, and I mean really terrible instruments are the American 'Performers' (beyond me why anyone would pay £1000+ for one of these), the Squier Classic Vibes and Mex Players were really too good for the money they cost, American Professional 2's and Ultra's are ok, but uninspiring for the amount of cash. The stand outs for me were the Mexican Vintera range, really lovely instruments at a keen price. However, as investments, i'd pick a used American Fender any day of the week. Bought at the right price it won't lose money - it's like someone is paying you to play!
  16. £900 should buy you a very decent Fender Jazz (probably USA Standard if you are patient)
  17. How was the singing journey for you? Was it enjoyable? I really enjoyed the journey of learning bass in my late 30's and learning guitar in my late 40's
  18. The feedback I get from my kids/family when I sing in the car etc etc.. ... big dent in the confidence!
  19. yes you can tap the individual sounds into the pattern..... personally I just use the x0x style on the grid... but it works both ways
  20. Maybe I should go and see a vocal coach? Just to see if there is anything that could be salvaged! Good to hear that you're going for it
  21. I'd love to be able to sing, even something really simple, just backing vocals.. But I am truly dreadful.... and at 50 years old think I'm too old to start.
  22. I used to have 7 basses (looking back that was absolutely crazy). Now I am down to two basses (jazz and a stingray) and two guitars (strat and a tele). It is really liberating, when you only have one or two instruments, and you don't have to think about buying or selling gear. Get them sold, enjoy the space (both physically and head space)!
  23. The trouble with a sample based machine, is that it will always sound a bit one dimensional... ie. it just plays back the sample.. The TR909/RD-9 - they are Analogue Drum Machines (save the cymbals/hats), . Each of the drum sounds has individual controls to alter the sounds - invaluable for live performance and jamming with it. Heres a little clip of a demo.. so you can see the variation in the sounds I guess to use a 'bass' analogy, there will be those who feel that a Squier Affinity 'P' bass is all the bass they need, and others that believe nothing less than a 10k Fodera will do. Neither are wrong, horses for courses.
