I found a 2nd-hand mandolin in a local charity shop, so I thought .... 'never played one before but why not have a go' .... so I bought it. A quick polish and a change of tuning to E-A-D-G - so I could play basic guitar chord shapes and Robert is your Father's Brother. Three days later I used it to busk with another guitar player at a friend's birthday barbecue and a week later I used it a gig - just for one song (The Irish Rover). The guitarist and I have worked out a few more busking type songs to do at another party later this month and we've decided to keep Irish Rover in the band set ! ! !

I've had cause to visit the Status factory in Colchester, (about 10 miles from my front door), a couple of times over the past 15 or so years, and had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Rob and Dawn both times - two thoroughly nice people. Yep, it's the one in my avatar - through-neck CFC with red tint and red side LEDs. it doesn't get played much these days but every so often I'll open the case and look at it for a few minutes - then pick it up and noodle for a while and then put it back in its case until the next time ................. bit of a waste really I should play it much more than I do.

I used a Status Stealth II (5-String; Headless) exclusively for about 10 years. It’s a lovely bass but a conventional 4-string bass seems to work better in my current rock covers bands.
