1. Miss my 102p, they're great cabs.
2. LMIII and Markbass Club600f32.
3. Hey guys, I'm trying to get this out there as much as possible - as we all are with our music! My band, Hundred Lies, released our first video today. Would love to know what you think, we're really pleased with it. The bass parts were recorded with a Feneder Jazz through an old Bassman 100 and matching 2x15. The track was mastered by Pete Maher and the video was put together by our very own keys player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NlHBokxOYI Hope you enjoy, thanks for taking the time to watch, Matt
4. Have used mine through many cabs and it has sounded pretty good through each. Great if you only have 15 mins to sound check, as is too often the case! My favourite combo is paired with my own 212. A Markbass club600f32. They pair up brilliantly.
5. Hiya, What sort of Warwicks would tempt you in a trade? I have a passive Corvette proline from 1995 - what then became the Corvette standard, immaculate. Plus cash your way of course if you were interested.
6. I recently picked up a Markbass club600f32. It's like the NY122 but front ported. I absolutely love it. I'm coming from a 102p 2x10. It is much bigger and bulkier (25kg). But so worth it for the sound. Very loud and transparent with a lot of low end and a much better tweeter than the smaller cabs. I'm using it with a LMIII.
7. This is mega. Great looking cabs. Someone grab a bargain.
8.
I am still not convinced 2 1x12s are the same as a single 2x12. A good 2x12 compares well to a good 4x10 IME/O
I've not tried 2 112's at any great length but would be interested to hear them in comparison to the equivalent 212.
9. Love this. Headstock looks fantastic. No bass looks better with wear and tear than a P.
10. Two 112's sounds like a good option. I just got a markbass 600f32, it's a front ported 212. It's quite a chunky cab, not dreadful to move but certainly not super portable. I a/b'ed it against a 104hf and hr and would say volume wise, there was no noticeable difference. I can't comment on how two 112s would compare - but volume wise my 212 was comparable to Markbass' 4x10s.
11. I kind of owned one... Ordered one which arrived with a massive dent, sent it back and it's replacement arrived with a twisted neck, sent that one back and received another with a bowed neck. At that point I gave up (one the retailer, more than the 70s reissue) and went elsewhere, tried as many jazzes as i could and bought an American Special. The first one with a big dent in was a really nice bass. I'd have kept it but the retailer wouldn't offer any discount. There is one for sale locally and I would love it. They look superb and the neck is wonderful.
12. I can confirm my old 102p was the same. They are just very hissy tweeters!
13. I've not had this issue. Only run about 50% gain. where abouts do you run this gain?
14. I played guitar for 14 years before I played bass - started playing bass as I got asked to try out for a mate's band I was really into and haven't looked back. I get more enjoyment playing bass in a band situation than I ever did guitar. I hardly touch my guitars now. I think many of the same basic principles apply which helped me adapt to bass very quickly as I already had very good dexterity and fretboard knowledge.
15. I'd agree that it depends on the individual instrument. Wood can be pretty inconsistent, as can many manufacturers QC. I love my 2011 American Special Jazz - I picked it over probably 15 other American/Mexican/Jap jazz basses, of various ages, as it just felt right to me. Pretty much all recent Fenders I have played have been great though, bar a Mexican 70's reissue Jazz... Though, old Fenders do have a certain charm and I do like a well used Precision with a story to tell!

Hi
Greetings! Awesome gear you got there (I want an MIA fender - but a P)
Thanks guys. I love my jazz. Just need a MIA P to match it now ;-)
17. Thanks Dan :-) Yeah - just realised I hadn't specified, this is the Traveller. The Markbass 102p Trv. One of the lightest 2x10s on the market - just 15kg!
18. http://soundcloud.com/hundredlies I'm new here. Would love to know what you guys think of our demos! Matt
19. I would have thought it would be more likely to be acidic sweat! does he wipe the bass down after use?
20. Hello, I have for sale my 2x10 cab. This is under a year old and has been used for my smaller gigs and a couple of months worth of rehearsals. I have gigged it only about 10 times, and used it for rehearsal until my band moved to a fully euipped rehearsal studio about 6 months ago. So, all in all it has hardly been used. I bought it in somewhat of a rush as i needed an amp when i joined my current band as we had gigs booked, it was bought at the same time as my LM3. It is a fantastic cab. It's very transparent, loud and has way more punch and low end than a cab of this size should. The only reason i am selling is my band are playing bigger venues and i need something bigger. We have a loud drummer and a keys/synth player and this setup has been remarkable, but i could do with moving a little more air. Being an 8 ohm cab, there is the option to pair this with other 8 ohm cabs, if you would like a modular rig. I want a single cab setup - hence this sale. I have played a small outdoor festival with minimal PA support and pub and club gigs to roughly 100 people without having to push the cab. I am based on the Isle of Wight, would rather not ship, but will look into fully insured, recorded postage if anyone is interested. I can meet potential buyers in Southampton, Lymington or Portsmouth if needed. My house if minutes from the Southampton - IOW passenger ferry if anyone fancies a day trip to test it out though! The cab is been obsessively looked after and there is not a single mark on it. It could pass as new. I am looking for £350. The photos are only from my phone. I can provide higher res images if anyone is interested. Any questions, please ask. Matt

Hi

Hey Chris, Thanks for the welcome. That P looks stunning! My wife would kill me though! Haha. I need a new cab first too. Incidentally, I was at university in Plymouth. Had the time of my life there.
22.
...Its easy to overplay and a lot harder to just sit in the pocket and nail a groove.
This is a good point. Guitars should be at least double tracked and there will probably be several layers of rhythm guitar. so there isn't as much space to fill as there sometimes is when playing live. I wouldn't worry about branding what you might do as 'over' or 'under' playing either. Just do what feels right to you as a musician, rather than just a bassist.

Hi

Hello. Firstly, please excuse my, faceless profile pic. I don't think i can edit this from my phone. My name is Matt, I play bass for a couple of bands on the Isle of Wight. My main bass is an American Special Jazz. I'm currently in the studio with my main band, where having had chance to use one, I have developed a serious want for a vintage Precision. I use a little Mark III and am about to sell my 102p to fund a new cab. Hope everyone is well, this looks like a good place to hang out. Matt
