1.
Given your location , wouldn't it be easier to just spend a day at Bass Direct ? You can try out a vast array of cabs , apart from Barefaced , and if you make a decision you could buy it and take it home with you.
+1 I dont think he would have them in there!
  2.
Sorry, didn't see the questions. Music genre is rock/metal. It's a new band with all new material and the songs we're writing are kinda bang in the middle. Musically we're a three piece so I have a lot of sonic space to play with/fill in times of git solo. Head is a Shuttlemax 12.2. The sound through the HD210s at bass direct was fantastic when I bought it but not sure gow it'd be now I've my sound set up, barring minor eq tweeks for cab/ room.
The Bergs always sound amazing with that head which has huge eq possibilities. I would be tempted to kook at the HD212 as well, very deep, very loud and tone to die for-I know where there is a virtually new one in as new condition for sale at a good price The Baer would also work well for you with some low end dialled in, the upper mid aggression would work well for metal, the cab will also do overdrive nicely as well if required due to the Faital mid driver.
  3.
What music are you playing and what amp will you be using with these cabs? It's a good list but I'd add: Bergantino HD112 cabs. Bergantino CN112 and CN212, out later this month. Baer ML112 and ML212 cabs. Aguilar DB112, DB210 and DB212 cabs. I've been playing mainly AE112 and occasionally AE210 cabs for the last 5 years so I'll be looking at the CN*** cabs with interest when Bassdirect get them in.
+1 all those cabs sound very different, need to match to your amp and style. Bergs, Vanderkleys, and Baers are beautifully made, fit and finish is sublime, and while very different, all sound stunning in their own way.

  5. Traynor make great gear, have good customer service, and can be repaired fairly easily by a decent tech. I had a ycv40 guitar amp that the power supply failed on, repaired in a week with new valves, all good.
  6. Shuttle 9.0 can be beefed up by turning the mid frequency selector all the way anti clockwise and then boosting the bass and mid level by a couple of clicks. Great amp but I prefer my little Mark 800, it goes deeper, is fatter and seems louder too! Rh450 will not keep up, the 750 will but has a built in grainyness to the sound that you cannot eq out, love it or hate it!
  7.
Yup, as above , except I boost the low /mids a smidgen and bought a Vanderkley cab . I have tried about 5 ( poss 6 ) Markbass cabs , great if your in a Jazz or Acoustic type band , but if your in competition with rock guitarists , keep the head ( or poss try the Tube heads for stronger mids ) . Some people like the VPF and VLE filters , but they can suck the life out of your amp. I having been using Markbass for years , so I am a convert to the brand , but Mark at Bassdirect opened my eyes and ears . Added note: trying gear out in shops is all very well , those Markbass cabs tend to sound fantastic when played on their own , but it is never the same in a band situation when everyone else is robbing you of your sound .
Vanderkley cabs great as well, a bit flatter response and brighter but equally good! When I played a Berg compared to my old Markbass cab it was night and day.
  8. Turn the vpf and vle off, set eq to 12 o clock, set bass to flat, play for 20 mins then make small adjustments to suit when you are used to what you are hearing. if no better keep the head, sell the cabs, buy some Bergs!
  9. For coffee shop gigs I wouldn't want to run any less than a mesa Bb750 and a Berg nv412, gotta makes those cups and saucers rattle dude!

    what amp
cheers for that folks, like the fact that lm800 isn't made in china! tried lm3,that sounded good but want more headroom.....will tone be similar?to lm800
It is quicker than the lmiii but still retains a lot of the warmth, with ridiculous headroom. Still no mute! I am in Leicester if you want to have a go on mine.

    Bass Direct

Depends on the bass, my Warwick took about 2 months, stingray 5 about a month, sandberg jj5 a couple of days!

    what amp

Shuttle 9.2 or lm800, the Markbass sounds fuller(I have both) gk mb800 might be worth a demo as well. Headroom should not be an issue with any of these amps. I run my lm800 at under quarter volume through a Berg Hd212, plenty left in reserve for larger gigs and the tone is unbelievable!

    Bass Direct

Mark will sell your bass on a commision sale, he as sold several for me over the last couple of years. He gets a lot of hits on the website so if it is a good bass at the right kind of money it should move fairly quickly.
  14. Sa450 all the way, much purer deeper sound, the tc is very mid focussed and compresses like crazy when pushed above 1/2 volume, that's how tc get that much volume out of 236 watts! Great feature set on the tc don't get me wrong and they are nicely put together, but not for me.
  15.
You don't specify a budget, so I'll go the whole hog and suggest that you keep your amp and look at the Bergantino CN212 when BassDIrect get them in next month. It would make an amazing rig with your amp and could be the last cab you buy.
+1, nothing wrong with that head and not a lot to gain by swapping it unless you run at 8ohm a lot in which case it does struggle for power. Cn212 will take the power and will transform your sound
  16.
Don't discount the TT heads either. They partner really well with MB cabs. I tried one with an MB 4x10 last week and it sounded really nice. Personally I prefer it to both the LM and F1 / F500's. For a warmer sound I'd go for an Aguilar TH500 over all of these three - worth auditioning one of these as well.
I did an a/b test last week with the tone hammer and my Lm800, in comparison the th500 felt cheap and tacky, the sound was ok but nothing to get over excited about. (Lots of bass and low mid, and not very open sounding in the high end. The Shuttle 9.2 and the RH750 also sounded and felt better, all imho of course!
  17. The F1 is not as warm sounding as the lm amps, it is a little more tight and bright, but either can be eq'd to sound similar to the other. The F1 has the edge on size, its ultimate incarnation is the F500 which has a semi parametric eq. Personally I love my LM800, best of both amps imho. If you like the F1 (now discontinued) you may also like the Genz Shuttle 9.2.....
  18. Steve Amadeo is up there somewhere, great guy, he is on this forum look him up!

  21. Markbass heads always sound amazing with Bergs Set your budget a little higher, save a bit longer, whatever, buy the best and stick with it!
  22.
IF ONLY IT HAD TILT BACK WHEELS IT WOULD BE SOO PERFECT!! Jeez I'm soo lazy these days :-D
I just bought a rocknroller upright cart off thoman, cost me about £30. Has a long foot plate so that you can get it right under the cab. I would still want a cart for a 20 kg cab, so I might as well have the tone I like and stick with the HD212.
  23.
Why does this always happen to me..... Have been trying to decide between barefaced s12t and the hd212, the s12t had it on weight..... And now this!!! Well that's just great now ain't it!
Hd212 is in another league altogether for tone and build quality, I assume the CN212 is as well, but in a very lightweight package!
  24. I played a th500 a few weeks ago, sounded great but felt very cheap, especially the buttons, the streamliner is finished a lot nicer
