Had a brief chat with Mark yesterday, good news is that he will be stocking the Valkyrie, and it is apparently awesome. I for one will be road testing with a view to making a purchase!
Wonder if Bass Direct will be getting the head in? Looks nice.
I hope so!

Have just re read the review that Tom and Alan wrote, I think a score of 4.5 out of 5 and comments like "this is one of the finest cabinets which I have evaluated from a technical perspective" and "there really is nothing to complain of, from a technical perspective, and much to praise" are very positive, all from people who are picky as can be about their gear!
I've just noticed that I started this thread way back when. It's about time I chipped in again. So... none of my bands are particularly loud. Would a single ML112 do for me?
A single ml will give you a suprising amount of volume and low end, if you play small bars or have pa support then one will probably do the job providing that you have a head that pumps out decent wattage at 8 ohms. I regularly play in a 400 seat auditorium with in house pa and 1 cab does it so comfortably, I do find that 2 does sound a lot fatter though! An ml112 will be similar in volume to a top end 210 such as a berg, but with more low end.

I really appreciate Roger taking the time to post on here and on Talkbass. He even took the trouble to send me an email thanking me for buying my two ml112's, can't fault him or his products.

For anyone who is near Leicester and wants to hear them, I am happy to let you try them, otherwise Mark Stickley is only an hour down the road in Warwick.....

Roger, you forgot to mention the Armadillo's
And I've found them the most worthless part of his reviews, as they do not adhere to any measurement standard. From the very first issue they admitted that they were doing their measurements their own way, because they didn't know how to do them the right way. That makes them as useful as mammary glands on a male bovine. I'll stick with half-space anechoic, as that's how all the rest of the audio world does it.
They certainly didn't do TC Electronic any favours!
Sorry if I'm being thick, but...2 of what to match the output of what ? I think you're saying you need 2 of the Aggie drivers to match the output of the 3012, but if you could clarify...?
The main driver in the ML cabs is a high excursion pa quality driver, it offers a far greater level of performance compared to a standard bass driver. A single ML112 will equal if not out perform a good 210. I can cover gigs with a single ML112 that would not have been possible with a single Berg 112. I am really looking forward to Roger sending the Valkyrie over, thought my GAS was cured, guess not!
Does anyone know the cost?
The 212 will probably be around £950 ish

Baer ML112 either one or two

The HD cabs are imho the best sounding cabs I have played through, I would still have my HD212 if it were lighter. I do sometimes think a pair of HD112's would have been a better solution. The neo's will not sound as forceful from what Ken is describing.
I love my Berg HD112 But a light 2x12 would be lovely!
Got an email fro Mark last night, should be here around June, they have got to be good to dethrone my ML112's which are just ridiculous for volume, depth, tone, weight etc. But Jim is the daddy when it comes to cabs!
Did he by any chance say whether these two changes happened at the same time, as in: "if you find JJs, then the DI is sorted"? Sorry I didn't ask, he did say they change their tube suppliers from time to time but didn't relate that to the DI. If you need info it is worth calling them. I just got the phone number out of the handbook. I got put straight through and the guy I spoke to was really helpful and.happy to chat. Ian best, bert
I spoke to an angineer at Orange who was really helpful. He explained that the hot DI issue has been sorted, they are also now fitting JJ tubes as standard. I could not tell a great deal of difference in volume between my shuttle 9.0 and the Terror 500. I think in the Bass gear magazine power test the burst rating was double the output rating, that might explain the huge volume. Apparently the 1000 is fearsome!
If I didn't have an AD200b, I would have a Bass Terror. They are, for the size/price/weight, fantastic amps. The wattage ratings are quite conservative. The 500 is a very very VERY loud amp.# I have also heard the latest models have a better DI.
Pretty much my experience, shame really I fell in love with the tone through the ML112's
Even with a 40db attenuator mine sounded horrid through DI but wonderful through the cab. All my gigs are DI these days so it had to go which was a real shame. Never got past 3 on the volume on a non DI gig. It was certainly loud.

It doesn't suck other than that it is too loud - but you can fix that with a £5 XLR attenuator!
Mine was a later amp that had been modified so no attenuation required. I am comparing the DI to genz Benz and tc heads that I use and in comparison to my ears and to those listening it was weeker, the engineer I spoke to at orange told me it was also preset and fixed to post eq Please don't hear me wrong, I am not Orange bashing, I love the tone of their amps, however to my ears compared to other amps I own the DI was not as good.

The DI sucks so bad on the Terror, through a good cab I thought the amp sounded great though and very loud. Now sold as I need a good DI out.
