1. I spoke to an angineer at Orange who was really helpful. He explained that the hot DI issue has been sorted, they are also now fitting JJ tubes as standard. I could not tell a great deal of difference in volume between my shuttle 9.0 and the Terror 500. I think in the Bass gear magazine power test the burst rating was double the output rating, that might explain the huge volume. Apparently the 1000 is fearsome!
If I didn't have an AD200b, I would have a Bass Terror. They are, for the size/price/weight, fantastic amps. The wattage ratings are quite conservative. The 500 is a very very VERY loud amp.# I have also heard the latest models have a better DI.
2. Pretty much my experience, shame really I fell in love with the tone through the ML112's
Even with a 40db attenuator mine sounded horrid through DI but wonderful through the cab. All my gigs are DI these days so it had to go which was a real shame. Never got past 3 on the volume on a non DI gig. It was certainly loud.
3.
It doesn't suck other than that it is too loud - but you can fix that with a £5 XLR attenuator!
Mine was a later amp that had been modified so no attenuation required. I am comparing the DI to genz Benz and tc heads that I use and in comparison to my ears and to those listening it was weeker, the engineer I spoke to at orange told me it was also preset and fixed to post eq Please don't hear me wrong, I am not Orange bashing, I love the tone of their amps, however to my ears compared to other amps I own the DI was not as good.
 4. I did part with it in the end, great cab as are all Bergs, currently have 2 Baer ML112.
Thanks Ian! Hope you're stil enjoying the AE410 All the best, Steve
5. Steve is a great guy, I bought his AE410 off him. These cabs are some of the best 12s ever made! Ian
 6. The DI sucks so bad on the Terror, through a good cab I thought the amp sounded great though and very loud. Now sold as I need a good DI out.
 7. Bergantino HD212 gets my vote

 9.
Maybe a shuttle 6.0 ?
Hi, thanks for your interest. The 6.0 would not be what I am looking for. I want the 9.2 for its rower and depth, also the higher gain input stage. I have owned a 9.0 which was incredible, just want that bit more!

 16.
Not Ashdown.... If you rated Eden, then I don't understand how Ashdown gets into the conversation I had their Evo 500 plugged into some cabs I was selling ...and the cabs were pretty clean and all the amp did was stink up the sound no matter what I did... I understand why people might say they are muddy..
I have only ever had 2 amps fail, both Ashdown, they were heavy and muddy too! (Abm) There are far better micros out there imho Go to Bass Direct and test drive some.... Oh and malke sure you set a limit on your credit card before you go!
 17.
That's great that they sorted the DI. The USA guys seem to love this amp, and pay a lot for it! I have the 200b and I'm always tempted by one.
Yeah they were really helpful in my decision making, I would have loved a 200 but I think the weight would have been too much, this seemed like the best compromise. Paired with my Baer Ml112 cabs it sounds savage!
 18. If you like natural valve warmth, huge low end and a gritty mid that will push into overdrive if desired then the terror 500 is a ripper of an amp.
 19.
interesting. I wonder if they could resolve the DI issue for older amps?
I doubt it but even if it doesn't it will impact the tone and gain. I have just fitted a pair of JJ premium tested ecc83s tubes from hotrox and they are an improvement over the jj tubes that orange fitted. They are smoother and the valve overdrive seems more musical to my ear.
 20. Just for info I have spoken to an engineer at orange technical. Hr tells me that orange now use jj tubes in their amps and the DI issue has been resolved. Took the top off mine yesterday and there were a pair of jj tubes installed. My amp is dated may 12
 21. I used to have a Markbass cms102p combo, a single Bergantino 1x12 walked all over it. Go the modular route and spend a bit more!
 22. Baer ml112 will match a premium 2x10 for volume and produce a lot more low end. I have 2 of them but one is more than enough most of the time with a 900 watt micro head. Got mine from Mark Stickley, totally amazing guy with great gear in his shop, try before you buy!
