1. Cheaper and less bother to change the cap. Replace with one of half the value (or put another of the same value in series). How did you manage to aquire BB2024 pickups?
  2. Heard one of these live for the first time last night - sounded superb!
  3. Blimey, nearly thirty years since the Feline tour - where does it go? He used flats on that BB2000.
  4. So what is the weight?
  5. 75Hz is fine, there is very little fundamental in a bass guitar signal - your open E will sound just fine.
  6.
That's actually an overdub, it's someone taking the piss
Well, I took that one hook, line and sinker (I blame the blue nun!).
  7.
Compare with the taste and tone here:
I must have listened to that a thousand times, and it takes my breath away each time I hear it. Absolutely stunning track.
  8.
Prefer this:
What a prick, he isn't fit to lick Jaco's arse.
  9.
The BB2024MX is new and I'm blown away by the passive tone from these pickups. The build quality, given that it's made in Yamaha's Japanese 'Custom Shop' is perfect, 10/10. The neck is completely free of dead spots and the colour is like butter. I always missed my CS Ric because of 'that colour' and now I'm happy again. I always wondered what the 'passive fuss' was about and now I know:
That's now my PC wallpaper. Just stunning....
  10. Great playing, have a bump for Fender's finest bass!
  11.
not denying its a ply body, but I still dont know what you guys are talking about when you say the paint job is obviously hiding its construction. I've owned plenty of sunburst guitars of varying standards and this looks no different from the rest of them.
Should've gone to specsavers.
  12.
Yeah, when not played with my dodgy intonation! Nearest I can describe my fretless playing is the intro from 'Roobarb and Custard' (for those who remember the 70s)
Don't all fretless players sound like that?
  13. Can you post it? Do you have a big enough box to put it in
  14.
It was EA who suggested the small/std. unit
Doesn't surprise me in the least Best let any potential buyer know the safety risks of using that 'std/small' unit just in case there's any come back. Who ever it was at EA who told you to use it should be taken out and shot.
  15.
were failing, I bought a 110/220 convertor (about the size of a std. multi-plug) and have used it with this since. You could risk the
If it's that small it won't be rated at the power that the amp can potentialy draw from it's supply.
  16.
I bought a Mex 2011 classic 60's jazz bass neck from ebay and on the base of the neck, where it connects to the body, it has RW scored out which means the classic 60s jazzes and the roadworn are one and the same. The roadworns are just classic 60s given a bit of a kicking in the factory.
They're not. The bodies and headstocks (RW) are thinner. Although you might have a RW neck - check the headstock thickness to check (Fender markings are a bit hit or miss).
  17. I wonder if Jet will ever tour again? Much as I like JJ I prefer Hugh's various interpretations of the stranglers back catalogue - he's still as creative as he ever was.

  19. There's a rather nice Yamaha BB800 Bass Guitar finishing at 8.45 tonight. Great instruments - couold be a bargain for someone.
My conversion was quite off! 3 3/4 stone.
That's 52.5 lb then... I hope you meant 3.75kg (8 1/4lb) - that's a typical weight for these basses. Good luck with the sale, they are worth every penny you're asking (and them some!).

    6.2lbs! Are you sure?
  22. One of my mates went through this a few years back. We experimented with the stereo output through a stereo splitter into a pair of amps/speakers to see what the so called stereo affect was all about. Couldn't see the point myself (some interesting phasing effect as you wandered across the sound stage, but that's something I'd rather not have). Ended up trying a bi-amp msystem using the mono output through a Yamaha PB-1 (which has a built in active crossover) into a PA bass bin and a 2x10 - now that did sound good. I'm a big fan of bi-amping myself if you can put up with the hassle of extra kit.
  23. I'd have the potential buyer pay the full asking price and arrange courier collection. That way, the responsibility of selecting an appropriate courier is his/hers, and if there is damage or loss (and the courier fails to pay compensation) you will not be out of pocket. The last time I tried to claim compensation from a courier I never even got a response from them.
  24.
My BB3000, with recently fitted Badass II bridge.
Very nice! I thought it would look a lot like the MA 3000 (with the Gotoh bridge) but it doesn't.
  25. Didn't Dan Armstrong put a pair of back to back germanium diodes in Jack Bruce's bass, with an in/out toggle switch? I did that 30 years ago with an overwound neck pickup when trying to sound like him.
