1. Very happy RH750 + RS cab user here. I have three cabs, which I mix and match to suit the gig - 2 RS212s and an RS210. The RH750 + 2 x RS212 is my favourite rig - pants-wettingly good, and mind-bendingly loud. Actually the RH750 can run all three cabs together at the same time, but I have not tried that yet - too scared! I've tried other stuff but always come back to the RH750 - it sounds great, and works great for the stuff that I do. Currently saving up for a second one so I can have a go at running a stereo rig.
 2.
My Cort was a C5H, so same shape but a different beast to the A5/6 I believe. Bolt-on, 34" scale. Modern-sounding and versatile but I didn't fall in love with it - I bought it for a particular band that ended a couple of years ago.
Ah. The Cort 'A' series is also pretty 'modern' sounding, so I guess I probably wouldn't recommend an A5 for you after all, even though the B string is likely to be awesome.
 3. PS I should say that my Sandberg is also 34 scale. I used to think scale length was key to getting a taut B string but now know better - as LewisK says above, it's all about the construction.
 4.
Yep - same here, when I was using a 5 string (I had a sandberg VM5) these are the strings I put on and had no trouble with floppy B's. Great strings and the non-tapered .135 makes a real difference. Personally I think the real difference between a good and not so good 5 string is whether it's been made as a 5-string from the start, or a 4 string design which has been worked around to include the 5th string, if that makes sense. The 6-bolt neck joint on the Sandberg, combined with a high mass bridge, a very stable, stiff neck, and the .135 string made a very nice combination..
Amen to all of that - I also have a Sandberg VM5 strung with D'Addario EXL 1655s, and the B string is superb. Out of interest, what was the Cort you used to have? I have a Cort A6 and the B string on that is even better than the Sandberg - in fact, it is the best B string I've ever had on any of the basses I have owned, including a USA MTD, even though it is only a 34 scale and not a 35. (My theory is that it is because the A6 has a neck-through rather than a bolt-on construction, but maybe I just got lucky with this one.)

 6. Sadly I'm not going to be able to make it this year after all - apologies, and hope to see you next time. All the best for this year's event - if it's anything like the last two it will be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all.
 7. Thanks, cocco and Sibob! Gold sparkle could never be an option as the singer in my covers band has some silver sparkly trainers that have become a sort of band trademark of late. And the singer just happens to be my wife, so ... Anyway, further to the black vs whitepearl pickguard issue raised earlier, this from Adrian today: Hmmm ... first world problems indeed. Just going on the pics I like 'em both equally well, so it's a good thing I asked for both!
 8.
By far the best truss rod adjustment that exists, IMHO. All should be made that way!
Amen to that!
 9. Thanks for the info, Hugh. Gosh, that's a lot quicker that I would've expected - good news!
 10.
Incidentally I'm totally in love with my stealth tank now and pretty much refuse to pick up any other fretted bass.
Great to hear that - I saw that it was a bit of a bumpy landing to start with, so I'm pleased that all is well now. Enjoy!
 11.
Jesus Christ on a bike. That's a smasher.
Many thanks, WoT. Yup, I'm pretty stoked about the way it looks to have turned out, too, and can't wait till delivery day - paid the balance last night. How long does it usually take from final payment to delivery, btw? Or perhaps there is no usually?
 12.
Disco as f***! Awesome!
Thanks, keefbaker! Yes, disco inferno indeed - I appreciate that silver sparkle is not to everyone's taste, but then I seem to have fairly non-Basschat-standard tastes anyway, and I've long harboured a desire to get me a glittery bass at some point, so here we are at last. This one is a lined fretless Elwood with ebony fingerboard and Delano pups and pre. I was jointly inspired by the silver sparkletastic Mikey Way Signature Squier Mustang, which has a black pickguard, and also by the Modulus Flea bass, which is even more bling as it has a white pearl pickguard as well as the sparkly finish. In fact I was undecided which paint job/pickguard combo was cooler/madder so I've asked Adrian to provide me with both black and whitepearl pickguards. As you can see, he clearly thinks the black looks better, but I'm reserving judgement for now. I will try to post a pic of it with the white pearl one on at some point after I get it. As Chic once said, Good Times!
 13.
That way madness (and a new bass) lies.
Speaking of which ... INCOMING! 14. Withdrawn, as it's been adopted by my guitarist son!
 15. Yup, still going strong, and still a good place both to play and watch others play.
 16. Thankfully both of my current basses have both tone and playability in spades, but if forced to choose I'd take playability every time. Choosing tone over playability is like choosing a car that has a fantastic engine sound but can't get out of 1st gear. I appreciate that some people have the time, money and patience for such museum pieces, but they're not for me.
 17. Agreed. DR Sunbeams 45-125 were a match made in heaven on my MTD Kingston AG5.
 18. Strobes at the Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath, Birmingham, last Friday. I don't expect to hear anything better this year, or any other year - simply jaw-dropping. https://m.soundcloud.com/thrashmetaljazz/winder-strobes
 19. Sorry to hear about this - how disappointing! In your position I think I would be looking to get a refund - get back to square one and start again.
 20.
Just arrived is my Knightfall 66 variant from Tom @ Cog: The enclosure has been painted by my good friend Claire Cousins, who has painted a few enclosures for my DIY/Poultone stuff before. This is the first time i've hooked up Claire with another builder for me, what's having very talented friends for if you can't hook-up awesome collaborations You can find Claires art stuff here: www.clairecousinsillustration.co.uk This thing sounds awesome, I will report back further when it's been out on some gigs and will make a video soon comparing it with my 2 channel Knightfall 66 prototype. Cheers Si
Truly stunning! Bet it sounds as good as it looks, too.
 21.
From the user guide
Clear as mud!
 22. It's perfectly simple - the 'gain' is not actually a gain knob at all, but an overdrive, and the 'drive' knob is ... er ... another overdrive ... er ... I think ... maybe ...
