1. Yes, on the full size pedal this is implemented as a switch option called latch mode - very useful!
2. This would be an ideal starter bass for someone wanting to give the 6 string world a try. So why not give it a try?
3.
That appeals to me as well, I really like the Green & Blue ones but yeah, the Silver one wins for me.
Ditto! Coincidentally, I have just ordered a silver Elwood from Adrian, but I'm going silver sparkle! More anon ...
4.
To be frank, it seems more like that you are trolling someone by repeatedly accusing them of trolling!
Never been called that before! Ah well, first time for everything.
5.
There's the answer, surely. Your band appeals to the over sixties and not to twenty-somethings. Doesn't mean they don't like rock, just that your band doesn't appeal to them for whatever reason.
This is indeed the answer. It is simply not true to say that the under 30s have no interest in rock music. They are just into today’s rock music. And to get an idea of what this is, and how vibrant and varied it is, just check out the playlist from last Sunday evening’s Radio 1 Rock Show: http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b06yb73c Note the absence of reggae and country music, by the way. These do not appear to be classified as subgenres of rock. Note also that this episode acknowledges the fact that last week was Independent Venue Week (gosh, what a coincidence!), and features interviews with various gigging rockers (most if not all of whom are under 30) talking about their favourite small venues, and how important this scene is to them. If you don’t have time to listen to the whole thing you could dip in at 39:30, where you can hear two guys from Bury Tomorrow talk about Joiners in Southampton.
6. For piano, yes - it's a classic technical work - but never thought of it in relation to bass before - might give it a go!
7.
Maruszczyk Elwood 5 inbound. Very excited.!!!!!!!! Glock 2 band with Delano Jazz pickups. Thanks Thomas.
Wow! That looks spectacular!
8. Yes, I did. Saying "I'm not trolling" is no guarantee that you are not trolling. And this is still looking like a troll thread to me.
9. JM bought my MTD 535-24 fretless, in a very smooth and professional deal. He made all the couriering arrangements using his UPS account, which was greatly appreciated and saved me the hassle. JM is a totally trustworthy guy and has immaculate taste in basses. Buy, sell or trade with total confidence - top recommendation from me!
10. Or if you prefer the OED: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/photobomb
11. Photobomb: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photobombing DB = double bass.
12.

Great photobomb from the DB, there!
13. What's all this? Ah, just another 'ageing troll shakes fist at modern world' thread. Move on, nothing to see here.
14. Perhaps not, although I've always thought Mustang Sally would sound much better if it were played through a bitcrusher!
15. TC Shaker vibrato. A real revelation for me. Vibrato seems a much less commonly used modulation effect for bass than chorus or flange, but I'm finding it works at least as well if not better for the stuff I do - it gives me the warble that I want without any of the watery or whooshy stuff getting in the way. And it kills on fretless!
16.
I didn't realise you had migrated to 6s?? I found the 6 I had too difficult to play and it didn't help that it weighed as much as a small house.
Not migrated - I've been playing 6ers for years. I think you may even have played my MTD KZ6 (now up for sale here on BC! ) at the first Mids Bass Bash a couple of years ago. But I do tend to opt for 5ers when playing in bands - the six string tends to be reserved for solo noodling, mainly.
17. For Sale, this very cool and extensively upgraded MTD Kingston Z6: Construction: Mahogany body with burled maple top, maple neck, matching headstock and rosewood fingerboard. 24 frets, 35” scale and zero fret. Very low action with no fret buzz. Outstanding playability all over the fretboard, and the lower horn cutaway gives full and completely unfettered access to the high notes. Like all MTDs, this bass has an asymmetric neck profile, which really is a joy to play - it does wonders for your left hand technique by keeping your thumb naturally on the back without you even noticing. Asymmetric necks should be standard on all basses, IMO! Electronics: MTD Kingstons are regarded (especially on TalkBass) as ideal ‘upgrade project’ basses, because they have excellent build quality but fairly cheap electronics which can easily be swapped out. Accordingly, the stock electronics on this bass have been replaced with Nordstrand Dual Blade Neo pickups and a Delano Sonar preamp. Controls are volume, pickup pan and 3-band eq (treble, mid and bass, all boost/cut). Needless to say, it sounds a whole lot better than a stock model. The black control knobs in the pictures are not original; I had to replace the original ones (which were chrome) because they didn’t fit onto the control spindles of the Delano preamp when it was upgraded, and the black ones were the only spares knocking around at the time. If you don’t like the black knobs you can buy a new set of chrome ones for a few quid. (I always meant to do this but never got round to it.) In any case I will include the stock preamp, pickups and control knobs in the sale, in the unlikely event that you would want to restore it to stock specifications. Weight and balance: Very lightweight for a 6-string at 4.2kg. In fact, it was too lightweight when I first bought it - the neck was heavier than the body, and it suffered from serious neck dive as a result. (I gather that this is a common problem with KZ6s - which is somewhat surprising, given that Mr Tobias has a reputation for putting a lot of care and thought into design ergonomics.) The good news is that this problem has been addressed by two further upgrades - the stock tuners have been replaced with Hipshot Ultralites, and an additional strap button has been placed at the higher position on the body, same as you find on USA MTDs, so it now hangs much better on the strap. Sound: Obviously this bass can do all the usual 2-soapbar tricks - Jazz on steroids at the bridge, old skool woodiness at the neck, and scoopy, deep and modern tones with both pickups engaged. But whatever the pickup blend, the sound is always very clear and articulate. Chords really ring out nicely on this one. History and condition: I’m not sure exactly how old this bass is, but it was made in Korea, before production switched to China in 2011-12. I bought it second hand a few years ago and have done all the modding. The bass has been played a fair bit but has been well looked after and is still in excellent condition. There is no discernible fret wear, and the gloss finish has no dings in it as far as I can see apart from the inevitable couple of tiny bumps on the headstock. The only other cosmetic imperfection worth reporting is a couple of small shiny patches on the fingerboard - looks like it might be lacquer or glue, but I really don’t know what it is as it was already there when I bought it. Anyway, it has never bothered me as it is hardly noticeable at all and has absolutely no effect on playability. Strings: Currently strung with a not-so-new set of D’Addario Pro Steels 32-130. Case/bag: This bass will come with a posh MTD gigbag if you collect in person. If posted, it will be delivered to you in a generic (non-MTD) hard case swathed in plenty of bubble wrap. Reason for selling: Good old cash flow problems! I would love to keep this bass but it’s surplus to requirements these days, and I need to raise money for other upcoming expenses. Price and delivery options: £550 collected; £600 couriered in the UK. I’m also happy to ship overseas at additional cost. You are welcome to come to South Birmingham to try before you buy. Bass Direct currently has one of these for sale at £750 (http://www.bassdirec...D_KZ6_TBRW.html), so at £550 this is a bargain, especially considering all of the upgrades described above. “Any trades?” Cash is definitely king, hence the low asking price, but I would be interested in trade or part-exchange deals involving the following: - Lehle Little Dual - Strymon Mobius - Strymon Timeline - TC Electronic RH750 - TC Electronic RS210 More pictures: http://s1333.photobu...20Kingston%20Z6 Thanks for looking!
18. I voted 5 but play 6 nearly as much. Don't play or own any 4s nowadays; totally off the radar for me.
19.
And they've come down in price. The RH750 I bought at the beginning of last year cost me quite a lot less than the RH450 I'd bought (and sold after a couple of years) about 5/6 years previous!
Indeed. I really do think the RH750 is the best bang for buck amp that money can buy right now. I swapped mine for an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 a while back, seduced by the incredible lightweightness and rave reviews here on BC, but almost immediately realised I'd made a big mistake. The TH is certainly a nice sounding amp but ... it has now gone on to pastures new and I am a happy RH750 user again. Lost a load of money in the process, of course, but lesson definitely learned!
