1. Thanks for this, might prove to be useful in the future if another one goes kaput.
2. Update; I ended up calling Aaron Armstrong and he somehow managed to repair it! So far so good.
3. I used to own this bass and I'd buy it back but sadly cant afford it! Did I sell it to you Basspirate? I seem to remember it was a guy in Germany?? Anyway, best of luck with the sale. Here's the video (jamming with a drum loop) I made to help sell it at the time.
4. DPD are a joke! They thought it was OK to dump a £450 computer in my recycling bin and NOT put a card through the door. They would have had a serious problem if it was bin day....idiots
5. Good shout, I got a reply from Aaron, the most positive response so far.
6. I emailed Gibson.....I got a reply! ..........‘That’s a real pity, as these pickups are no longer made for many years already. We don’t have old stock of these either, so we really cannot help you with this, sorry!” ........the words “Ashtray” and “Motorbike” spring to mind!
7. Thanks for your reply. I’ve sent an email to both. I’m going to try some UK pickup makers too. It appears Seymour Duncan won’t ship to the EU.
8. Help! The bridge pickup in my 76 Grabber G3 is dead. It turns out it can't be rewound/repaired because it is set in it's resin case (see pic below). Ive searched Ebay and Reverb and there isn't anything suitable. Do any G3 owners here have any experience replacing this pickup? I've read that the pickup (made by Bill Lawrence) is also in the Gibson S-1 guitar so im searching for one of those too....but it seems that this bridge pick up is different to the other two as it has different coloured wires?! The resistance is around 5.5k , perhaps there are some custom pickup builders here that can help? Any advice would be most welcome.
9. Weight sensitive eh! "just over" 4kg is actually very good. I had one just like it from the same period and it was just short of 5kg.
10. Funny.....I used to own an older Smith BT5 and now I have one of Bernie's bass which I regard as a far superior and a vastly more versatile bass . So, with respect, I hope you have thought this through! Good luck with the sale and all the best to someone is going to gain a wonderful instrument.
11.
Hallo. What pedals does John Patitucci use? thanks...
Patitucci's sound comes from his fingers. The effects pedals he uses are almost irrelevant imo.
12.
I've had this too, I use my 'rubbish venue amp' which is an almost 20 year old Peavey combo in These situations, it's litterally indestructible I think! Sorry to go off topic, but out of interest, how is the EBS compared to the Genz, power wise? I'm so tempted by them, but 'only' having 350w does put me off.
The EBS 350 isn't as loud as as the Streamliner, but it still packs a punch. It's definitely louder than the SWR SM400 which I used to own which was rated at 500w when run in bridged mode.
