Nokia ringtone at 2:03 in the first one
Yeah, she played on that.
Is the vba not just 2 ohms load as the lowest? Ie if you select 4 ohms and plug the 8ohm cab in it should run fine no?
It's a valve amp, so doing that would release the magic smoke!

It's a Kramer DMZ of some description - I'm not really up on them enough to know the model numbers. Definitely not a novelty bass though, just an idea that never really took off although ally necked basses still have their adherents.
I'd personally avoid this crowd - they're from the "Buy overpriced tickets from us, sell them yourself, play for 15 minutes and make us loads of cash" school of promotion.
Just about to say the same thing myself.
As I PRS member I log every Terrortones set list. The average pub gig is worth £6 split between all the songs played that evening. However you only get the money if you claim. Judging form last year's gig royalties very few of the other bands that we've shared the bill with have bothered to log their sets. Last year as a band we made approximately £150 in performance royalties from playing our own songs in public. That pays for quite a few hours in the rehearsal room.
That's handy to know - I hadn't realised that you could submit your own set lists. Cheers for that.
As Molan says, if this is what you need to complete your original vintage bass, then you'll pay what its worth to you? If you have an all original '62 jazz missing the thumbrest, I can assure you that it would more than recover its $150+price, if you added one of these, and then had an all original '63. I think the main issue with some of these sellers, is that they strip out perfectly good guitars, because they can make more by parting them out. It should be a crime. If a guitar is broken, then fair enough, recycle the parts, but just to break one up for more bucks is a real shame. Hey ho, thats life. He probably makes bucket loads out of it?

So, if folks need to buy lots of period/year correct parts for their restoration project, is that not still a bitsa?
Although I agree with the general point of your post, I think Andy has hit the nail on the head. To my mind an instrument is only all original if no parts have been replaced, period correct or not. Of course if you can persuade a buyer that it still as it left the factory, who's to know the difference? Candy Apple Jazz anyone?

Free bass cabinets....looks like buy one get one free
Musky replied to Thunderpaws's topic in General Discussion
Can't be much cop as bass cabs if they're bass free. -
I'm not sure what the current prices of used pedals are, so I can't really comment. I will say that I've always felt these 'half the new price' type generalisations rarely hold much water. Supply and demand is a funny old thing.

I just knew they were from the 'gnomes in the attic' guy without even looking.
94 MIJ
I think you're right. T0xxxxx serials are 2007-2010, but the nineties T serials were followed by 6 numbers which could start with any number including a zero.
So should we sort a co-operative thing so if any of use are asked what songs we cover, we tell the PRS we cover each other's songs, keep the money in the community.
Or tell them they're your own songs - if you're a PRS member you'll get paid for them as well. Some venues routinely submit the set lists of bands to PRS, as well as the flying visits to random venues. Because these venues are used as a sample it'll be assumed the same songs will have been played at other venues as well, so you'll get paid for more than just that one instance.

That's not a Tribute series, it's probably a recent MIJ.
I'm actually very interested in this question. There was a lot of suggestion that the Arctic Monkeys owed more to major labels than they did the internet. Personally I have heard a hell of a lot of new bands through Spotify and friends, and I can only assume these bands would not have come to my attention if it weren't for the internet. Perhaps the majority of "airtime" on spotify is taken up by major label acts though - I don't know, it'd be very interesting to see the relevant statistics.
The Arctics owe less to majors (Domino is independent) than to Bad Moon PR, who were on board with the band early on. Very early. Of course Bad Moon deny that they had much of a hand in the bands success, and the Myspace page which generated so much interest - and column inches - was neither theirs nor the bands doing, but the work of a fan. Which was quite fortuitous, as the fan managed to write (in the first person) a stream of consciousness style missive that screamed 'creative person at work' squarely at an aspirational teenage audience. And on the right kind of timescale to promote their first self produced single. Lucky. Once Domino was on board, the story changed from one of 'yet another band you've never heard of' (which isn't actually a story for anyone other than the NME and overlooked threads on specialist music boards) to a technological/cultural one which would garner mainstream interest. On the back of that interest, dial in masses of radio airplay, but without any product available. Result - single straight in at No. 1. Actually a lot of the early discussion of the Arctics happened on the Libertines forum. The guy who did a lot of the photography/video for them, as well as hosting the promos the band was giving away, was quite active on that. There's probably a lesson in marketing for us all there, even if that lesson is 'don't do it the same as all the others'. Marketing on the internet maybe cheap, but good marketing rarely is.
I think you should read the whole thread before pontificating, a lot has developed since page 13.
I think I might lose the will to live. OK, I'm going in. I may be sometime.

Excuse me if someone else has made this point, but my eyes glazed over around page 13. Almost my entire CD collection has been ripped to my computer. An illegal act, depriving musicians of income. If anyone thinks I'm a c*** or wants to block this criminal mastermind from their 'for sale' thread, then fair play. Although I'd suggest others are also caught up in this double standards conundrum and perhaps ought to moderate their language.

According to Jon (who I'd trust on these matters far more than most) El Maya was indeed the upmarket version. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/7473-japcrap-spotting/page__st__1140__p__739236#entry739236

I'd be interested to know what internal mods are needed to set it up for UK voltage. Just a case of changing some jumpers on the PSU?

I'm thinking the bass may have been refinished at some point. It's difficult to see in the photos, but some areas where the wood is exposed the paint looks quite thin, and without the white under coat black basses usually had. The 'thick skin' finish of Fenders at the time was named for a good reason. It's still likely to draw interest, though I'd imagine it would push the price below a thousand. Not by much though.

Changed pots, tuners, bridge and scratchplate. Is that paint in the bridge cover holes?

I first came across the idea of chambered bodies when Gibson brought out a LP Jnr DC - they claimed the idea was to introduce resonances to make the guitar more vibrant and lively. But just losing some weight is as good a reason as any other.
-
I suppose you could muddy the waters a little with Electro Acoustics and Chambered bodies.
