If it did come after the DP range (which I think it is) that would make it early nineties.
-
If it were me I'd be going for the Trace as well. Mind you, as it stands the G300 and hartke combo seems like decent value. I've not tried it (though I have used a DP300 which I think preceded it), but your not really going to know how it sounds until you use it in anger. Having said that I can't really see you losing out if you decide you don't like it (assuming it's in good working order).

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting

I had to read this one twice just to make sure what was being offered - £10 for a single screw. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-parts-19...emZ250363558622 Presumably there's going to be another 9 of these up for sale at some point. Collect all 10!
I'll be running this at 4 ohms tomorrow at gig volumes, competing with two guitarists at rehearsal, so i'll get back to you.
Cheers. I'd be interested to know whether it keeps getting louder as you wind the volume up, or whether it runs out of steam with the volume control past 2 o'clock like some other amps do.
-
Nice review. Did you have any chance to crank it up to see how loud it would run? I'm a little concerned over some of the reports in the amp section that it seems a little quiet for the wattage.
-
That's a dead ringer for a Dean Stylist. Like you said, a bit pricey considering the Dean costs about the same.
Not great. Bit of a peak about 1.8kHz then drops away sharpish. But the bass, man! think of the bass!
Hmm... I'd probably like just a bit more at the top for what I'd had in mind. Might just have to be the 3012HO then!
I guess we might have to wait a while, there's bound to be a lot of demand. We might be able to organise a group buy among us here, any interest? WinISD promises >430W handling all the way down to 31Hz. I don't believe it.
What kind of top end are we looking at from the LF version?
-
I've been waiting for these - didn't think they were going to be available until the end of the year though!

What's the difference between Fender MIJ and CIJ?
Musky replied to lapolpora's topic in Bass Guitars
Have they returned to MIJ? Because i have noticed 'new' Japanese basses with Made in Japan on them.
Interesting. I wonder if that means Fuji Gen are manufacturing some of the Japanese basses again? -
It's certainly very lovely and the price seems reasonable (I'd give that for it anyway). The P&P is a bit of a git though.
As is the extra 23% you might expect to pay in taxes and admin charges. Lovely Matsumoku built bass though.
Andrew Bishop owner of amp and PA manufacturer Carlsbro noted: The petition has more than double the number of signatures of the petition calling on the PM to impose an arms embargo on Israel following its Gaza offensive. Once again, public concern about the regulation of live music proves to be greater than the either the government or the media appreciate." And that is PRECISELY the point as far as I'm concerned. Those who chose, for reasons best known to themselves, not to "waste" their signature on what they considered to be a less than "kosher" petition should examine their consciences I think. All IMHO, naturally.
Your point seems to be something of a moveable feast as far as I can see. While people are being distracted signing pointless petitions and making it abundantly clear they actually have no insight into the issue, there are other petitions languishing on the site which address genuine concerns. Try both of these if you'd like to add your name to something that actually have some factual basis. One set of La Bella Deep Talking strings safely in my hands. All very painless and David was kind enough to keep me up to speed when the strings were sent off. Cheers!

Vox do the Amplug http://www.voxamps.com/us/amplug/ Is that the sort of thing you meant? Edit: you beat me to it Eight

Welcome back to the bass playing fold! I found myself in a similar position a few years back, having gone a while without playing. Feels good to be playing again doesn't it? Nice gear gear BTW.
Google is your friend: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=220520
The contributions in that talkbass thread aren't really on the ball, as clearly they didn't 'run out of serial numbers'. The reason for the change to CIJ is supposed to be that Fuji Gen had it in the contract that only Fuji Gen instruments would carry the MIJ mark. I say 'supposed to be' because I've not actually seen the source of this and it may just be one of those internet things that get taken as fact. -
I want something that really kicks up my tone and the 'growl' of my bass. Something that really adds edge and dirt but not a full blown fuzz (thats another issue; whats the wooly mammoth like...?) or necceserily distortion. Just something that growls when i kick it in and has that more filthy edge. Space on a pedal board isnt a worry for the moment as this will be my first pedal (hopefully of a simple yet effective pedal board that gives me the sounds i want; overdrive/fuzz, compressor (perhaps), octaver and some kinda wah/phasor). Basically sound is more important than size, or pretty much anything else! Not too bothered about it doubling as a DI, whats the bonus? Although one of the PA men i work with said he'd prefer to get a fully clean signal alongside any wet signal i give him so he can mix them himself and not lose any front of house 'presence'! Cheers!
Pretty much like the Fuzzface it shares it's circuit with - a bit more bottom end.
I like the Goldsmiths but the New Cross Inn is a more 'Punk' pub.
It is now, probably because they discouraged the old customers at Goldsmiths. I can't even bring myself to go into Goldsmiths anymore - it may have been a bit of a tip before but at least it had real character. Talking of that neck of the woods, have you ever played the Birds Nest in Deptford Wayne?

How important is theory and reading to you??
Musky replied to JakeBrownBass's topic in General Discussion
Ok guy, I've been reading different things about how important it is to read, and to know how to get from one chord to another etc...
[Backs slowly out of thread, and then runs for cover...] -
I must be thinking of somewhere else then... much the same kind of thing though. There was always the Goldsmiths Tavern in New Cross for the full punk and crusty experience too, but I think they're closing it now. Was always a fun place to go if you wanted your head kicked in recreationally and the Dew Drop Inn wasn't punk enough for you.
The Goldsmiths was closed as a decent pub years ago - tarted up and reopened as a place more befitting the increasing gentrification of the area. I used to love it, especially the free gigs they put on there. Saw a bit of trouble in there occasionally, but never had any grief myself.

Thinking back I'm sure I've stood on the left of the drummer most of the time. Less chance of catch the drummers cymbals with a right handed bass on small stages I usually wind up playing on.
Well I've finaly bought a bass! I should pick it up on friday, Its a vintage Icon V4 - the aged looking model, its an unwanted xmas present in as new condition. I've bought it off ebay for £125 which is less that the non reliced models cost. Am happy at this, so now need to hunt for an amp! Cheers Mikey
I think Noirpunk will agree you've made a good choice - he loved his so much he ended up getting an endorsement!
Agreed - my CIJ 70s P has done exactly the same. Just one thought - was Vintage White actually a vintage Fender Colour? I always assumed it was actually a colour created for re-issues, meant to look like Olympic White which had yellowed (if that makes sense?!)
Exactly. The two whites Fender had in their catalogues in the 70's were Olympic White and just plain White. Arctic White came along in 80/81, and Vintage White first appeared in 1982 on the Fullerton Reissues.
