1. The rosewood, mate. I commend your choice of cream Dimarzio in black 'plate too
 2. Looking good, Mike & Mert

 4. Wicked. Can't make it, but good luck. I'm sure I saw the first incarnation supporting someone in the mid-80's & deffo on Channel 4's ECT, Lyttle used a Telecaster. Still doing Crazy Motorcycle?
 5. Looks modded to me, the dual pot & resistor are not std. A quick fix back to std would be -

remove the resistor
unsolder the white wire from the bridge vol pot & the wire attached to it going to the jack
resolder these to the middle lug of the uppermost track of the dual pot [where the resistor is currently]
And ignore the dual pot. The way to get a more P-like sound is to insert a series / parallel [S1 style] switch, giving you single vol & tone. These are available aftermarket as complete looms, but a bit pricey, or use your local guitar shop. A push - pull vol pot is a good idea to switch between them. Andy Rothstein does a great one from the US [the JSP] & there's got to be someone over here who'll do them.
 6.
No, he put it up for £20 more. Sorry I'm a cynic.
Free shipping though.
 7.
i refunded merton his money back when it all went wrong.
And you didn't think to offer it to him again?
 8.
The Spector Legend 4 for a 5 sounds a reasonable idea. Depends on what string spacing you like. The Spectors, Warwicks and Ibeanez basses tend to have very narrow string spacing. If you want to maintain your wide spacing from your 4-string, have a look at the MIM Fender Jazz V. Yamaha 5ers tend to be widely spaced too, at around 18mm.
I had a similar dilemma. I weighed my Spector Euro 4 in for a Euro 5 & the bridge string spacing drops from 19mm to 17mm, which initially felt a little cramped. I got round this by refusing play anything but the 5 and after a couple of months I was quite happy with it. The switch from a 34" scale on the 4 to a 35" on the 5 caused more problems but I soon got used to it, YMMV however. I can now [4-5 months in], switch happily from the 35" Spector 5 to a 34" Fender P 4 with no problems. I recently played Walmans US G&L L-2500 which I think has an 18mm spacing and that was ideal. If the G&L had a 35" scale [it's 34"], I would buy one tomorrow, but I like an extra inch, me. The G&L Tribute L-2500's seem to go for about £300-350.

 10.
Well, after a lot of thought I've pretty much decided to go with the Hartke - especially as an even better deal has come to my attention and I can get one used for under £200!
Good man. 11. I was toying with the idea of getting a Shuttle or similar lightweight head to replace my LH-1000. Then I thought about why I got the LH - it's a classic bass players amp - simple & loud. I am toying no more. SVT-7 maybe...
 12. Careful editing says 'Ray to me!
...the tone of the 'Ray is so much better, it will cut through anything, it's deep and I love it.

Playing the StingRay feels great and I just love the feel of the neck of it!... ...I'd say overall the StingRay does feel nicer...

Stick with the MusicMan for a while and see how you go, Seb

You stick with a bass you like & you adapt around it.
A good core tone for me, manoeuvrability can be learned.
 13. What OTPJ said - lovely basses, but I felt the neck was flexing front to back when I really gave it some - never had any tuning issues though. Needed a small truss rod tweak with the changing seasons, but no real drama. I loved mine & must have had it a couple of years, but ultimately realised I like a bigger neck to get stuck into, so moved it on. Held it's price well. There's a couple of threads on here about them - try an advanced search.

 16. Classic Hawks - New[ish] guiatrist Niall started life as a bass player & plays lead bass on a few tracks live. Stonking.

 18. Leave it as Leo intended bar a cream Dimarzio DP122. It's what he would have wanted.
 19. Chris, I've had both on different basses & the only difference I found is that the D/G side needs to be closer to the strings on the trad P to achieve a good balance between E/A & D/G. I'm not the most gifted listener though.
 20.
Don't know about Tribs, but I love my US L2500's.
I love your L2500 too - 18mm spacing, very tempted. Very nearly bought a 2000 Trib after trying Stingrayfans, then bottled it & got a Spector. A 2500 is high on the must get soon list .
 21.
Better in what way though?!? Feel is a personal thing, build quality after a certain point is moot.... tone is a combination of the playing style and good quality equipment. To use a couple of quick examples of very popular modern rock bass tones.... Duff McKagan (GnR/Velvert Revolver) - simple Jap Fender into GK Billy Gould (Faith No More) - Aria into Peavey Classic rock, soul & funk tones from the 70's were very often standard Fenders/Ricks into Ampegs etc ...
Good call and raises some interesting questions - who has your favourite tone, do you strive to emulate it, what gear got it, and what do you use? There's a thread in there somewhere..
