2.
If you insist - bung some strings on, if the bass buzzes to b*ggery turn the truss rod a bit so it doesn't any more, if the neck resembles a banana turn truss the other way. Simples. Then hand round lysdexia's photo album
Which reminds me people, if you want to actually adjust yer bass during the setup section, I'd suggest a minimum of - Strap Tuner [& lead if required] Allen key / truss rod tool +/- small screwdriver to remove any truss rod cover The knowledge of which way tightens the rod Allen key to adjust saddle height Screwdriver / allen key to adjust intonation JL
 3.
Right, excellent, I've printed that off, should be able make it last 45 minutes, with a bit of waffle eh, cheers!
Can someone do the same thing for setups please?
 4.
want!
I'll have it after you.
 5. I have one in my Euro 5 I think Pedro will know. 4-knob variant - vol/pan, B/T w/ pull bright, mid cut & boost/freq, passive tone w/ pull passive. To be honest, I only ever need a bit of mid for room EQ & bass when rolled onto the bridge pup and it does these well.
 6.
+1
Totally. A proper bass, up there with the Eagle mate. Nearly
 7.
What we have are the following: 1. Compression/Compressors - 51m0n 2. Bass tones/using your amp/e.q. advice - alexclaber 3. 'Set up' masterclass - johnnylager 4. ????????
Nik, could you please remove the reference to 'master' from the word 'masterclass'? JL.
 8.
Two and a half weeks to go...
Bloody hell, better pull me finger out
 9. Tapered nickel B singles - who makes 'em & who sells 'em? Not D'adds, though. Cheers, JL.
 10. Let him use my Peavey Combo 300 when we supported them in 1997. Can't remember a thing about it. Do I win £5?
 11.
Just be aware that a fiver with 19mm spacing will feel like the flightdeck of an aircraft carrier at first, but 17mm arguably takes more getting used to and requires more changes (potentially) in your playing style.
I think I'd agree with that. Whatever 5 you buy, why not unsolder one of the jack leads on your 4 so you can't use it? I moved from a Spector Euro 4 to Euro 5 to see how I got on with 5's before getting one built. Now I can't bear to part with it, it's great. G&L L-2500's are nice too. As are ACG Dirty Ash Finn 5's & GB Spitfires...
 12.
...We play death metal and have slowly progressed from melodic death to blackened death so the change is obvious...
15.
Can I ask for/suggest a set up master class? The idea being someone stands at the front and goes through a set up, and we all work on our own basses following the hints and tips. If as many people as possible try to bring their own tools, then lending to the odd person shouldn't be a problem.

I think this 'set up masterclass' idea is great and was mooted last year - any one out there who has the skills and confidence to lead it?
Funny you should mention that, Mac.... Check yer PM Nik. I will be there with the Pimp Euro 5, a Jap P, the LH / Big Juan rig and the DHA thing. And a couple of cans of lager.
 16.
I have been soloing the neck PUP with the tone rolled off and with fingers lately, I'm 27
Eugh. NURSE!
Doesn't everyone just get old, hard of hearing and accidentally buy a P Bass, doggedly sticking to it until the grave?
Guilty. I have all the top end I need from the tinnitus.
