I’ve heard that about people from Hucknall too
And Southampton. And that place near Arsenal - what's it called. Oh yes, Tottenham.
This isn't lightweight in any sense of the word
No, I really fancy it, the mid thing just puts me off. I need to get and try one really, eh?
You can roll the bass and treble off for a mid-boost...
Not very much according to this... But bear in mind I know bugger all about anything except early/mid 80's rock/metal and we didn't use these namby-pamby lightweight things back then
Still smarting about 1975 and their ignominious exit from Saigon no doubt....or am i reading too much into here? Anyway, who wants a manky old amp full of glass tubes in this day and age? Old bearded hippies and people who still buy turntables, that's who

Yes, that's the one. Try with with 2,10,2 settings, that's considered closest to flat. Alex
Excellent, thanks again mate. So there's no way of giving a mid-boost and does this matter?

Oh amp gurus - is this plot correct for the Fender tone stack [and therefore the LH series I would guess] with bass & treble @ 50% & mid @ 100% giving a mid-cut, or am I talking sh*te? And does it matter?

Tom Holliston / Rob Wright - Nomeansno, Hanson Brothers Bernie Torme / John McCoy - Gillan Blackmore / Glover - Deep Purple +1 for Larry & Les, even though Larry sounds like he's playing a solo to the wrong song half the time +1 Pete & John too.
Does it matter?
Not really, as long as you don't go above 13A. Personally, I would use whatever is nearest and of course, whatever the venue has it's RCD on. Reasons to get your own RCD / earth tester are here.

500w ABM EVOII 2x10 combo + 2x10 extension in Brighton if your really stuffed, but the price of petrol nowadays, it'd be cheaper to get a new head than drive down here twice!

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
johnnylager replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
As for the venue, it looks like this:
Lets 'ave it. -
SansAmp good, EBS better. I've got good results using Trace & Ashdown pre-eq DI's too. Compression's a hard one - I've had good results using an EBS MultiComp before the MicroBass and using the studio one. Always fancied miking up too, but we tend to record everything live and the guits bleed would be poo.
Wizard 84's? Or possibly ask them nicely if they'll do you some overwound beasty pups? They'll be passive, but you can keep vol/vol/tone and the output will be much better (monsterous if you ask Andy and co to overwind them).
And ask him to wrap them in tape to protect the windings!

Our onstage [or is that behind the pool table] volume is all dictated by the drum kit. The problem arises when the guits push it a bit as they do and it drowns out the bass n drums on stage, leaving us floundering to hear what's going on. Me ER20's help a lot by filtering a bunch of white noise the guits create though. And I'd be totally f***ing deaf if I hadn't worn them to Motorhead the other night. They were the loudest band I've seen since Quo in 1984.
...children who have no preconceptions about music react just as positively to jazz as they do anything else...
Until you beat it out of them That Feraud is mental though. Sorry, that's probably not a very jazz term.

Actually it's mine. Could you remind the bloke of who I am as he's never met me and it's about time I picked it up
I've just had a conversation with the man himself! What a thoroughly nice and helpful guy.
If you visit him, under no circumstances take the means to pay for anything expensive. Indeed gouge out your own eyes before visiting, just in case you see something you 'need' and end up coming back later, buying said item and getting in trouble with the wife. Take cake and biscuits instead.

I had this on me Geddy Lee at the first rehearsal with me ABM rig, anywhere between 3rd & 7th fret on the E - couldn't dial it out no matter what I did. I was convinced the valve had gone, amp was f***ed - the usual post purchase paranoia, but it was just amp position in the room. Never had it since.

Advice on what cab to get for the sound I'm after
johnnylager replied to colinmk's topic in Amps and Cabs
Regardless of the era those sealed 4x10" cabs can't handle much power in the lows, little more than 100W. If you fancy thinking outside the Ampeg box then that rack rig would sound absolutely delightful and incredibly loud and fat driving The Big One by barefacedBass! Alex
This little fella got some quite +ve feedback from the SE bash too. For what it's worth, one will be sitting on the bottom of my new rig as soon as me lotto comes in. Stunning cabs, just be careful you don't put it through the ceiling when you lift it up.
