1. What sort of cover you playing dude?
2. Yep, that's the one mate, it's also known as "gods waiting room" hahah. It's a great little pub, although some of the locals are sadly passing away.
3. Great stuff Andy, welcome back! I think I know the pub you are referring to, its where my father in law drinks on a Tuesday!
4.
On of the songs we leant was "Prime Mover" by Zodiac Mindwarp.
😄 Awesome tune, those guys are textbook Cock rock! My personal favourite is Back seat education though!
5. Depending g on how much time I have, I generally like to listen and figure it out by ear, to me it's more accurate and keeps you sharp. The trouble with this I find is that I'm in a grunge cover band, and sometimes the bass can be a fair way back in the mix which can make picking the exact lines out more difficult. If I'm tight for time ill check youtube, as previously stated, there are some awefull versions and some really good if not actual lessons from the artist. Personally I find trying to watch, listen and play a bit overwhelming and prefer to just do it by ear. There is no substitute for repetition though!
6. Gorgeous basses these. Good luck ray!
7. Yeah I've noticed that too. To be fair, I always scroll past the guide price anyway because if there are multiple items its the grand total price at the top.
8. If you have an iPhone or ipad try the clear tune app. Will probably need an amp, but will do the job for home rehearsal and only cost a few quid from the app store
9. Try getting in touch with matamp. They make a neo 610 that is true 8 ohms (I have just sold mine), if they are the light weight alternative then bugger me! I don't think there is such a thing as a lightweight 610. Unfortunately it's te price you have to pay if you want to shake walls with one cab. I have just replaced it with a gallien krueger 212 and 115 neo cabs, and to me it is more clear and punchy and equally as wall shaking. Plus it fits in my mondeo boot without having to unclip the back seats (whichever taking the baby seat out!)
10.
Yes, I think so too. The people who make best use of the limited health resources we have are those who shout loudest. Tell your GP you are now at the end of your rope, your condition is worsening, it's affecting your quality of life as a musician (and generally), and INSIST on a referral to a specialist. Refuse to leave until this happens. Your GP will do it just to get rid of you, they only have 10 minutes allotted for each appointment. In any case you have a right to a proper diagnosis at least.
PLEASE, just go and see another GP, take a tent and pitch it in their office and refuse to leave! Fight for YOUR quality of life. You are 32 and ready to accept disability??? Seriously, if this is getting worse as you say, how long are you going to leave it? Until you can't drive a car? Until to cant write? Until you can't wipe your own.... Well you get the picture. If you can afford to pay as a private patient, or have private health insurance through work etc, go and see an osteopath or a chiropractor, as has been mentioned, if you have pins and needles in both hands, this could be linked to an out of place vertabrae around you shoulders/lower neck and could be very treatable with some visits and exercises. If you are unable to go private, insist that your GP makes you an appointment, you might have to wait a few weeks but at least you will get in. The squeaky wheel get the grease matey, don't give up!
11. Price drop to £35 to save me the ass ache of eBay?
12.
Gig in the Rock band and develop the Funk band. When it's ready it can take over.
This. Bands are fickle, keep gigging the rock band, once you have a solid line up who are working well together, then you can plan your exit. This will probably mean being in 2 bands for a little while, but you dont want to be sat on the sidelines waiting to find the suitable band member. Been there, done that.... Nearly sucked the life out of me.
13. Hey Si, I have a DOD Metal X overdrive pedal and a samson meteor USB mic up for sale at the moment if either if them are any interest to you?
14. Hey all, up for grabs is my DOD Metal X distortion pedal. I bought this new in the mid 90's when I was playing guitar, and it's been on a box for the last 15 years. These are pretty rate now (apparently!) and are very versatile. Can do a mild blues to all out thrash metal. Looking for £50 Ill get some pics up shortly!
15. Up for sale is my Samson Meteor USB mic. In brand new condition in box, I have only used this a couple of times. Looking for £50 A review can be found here http://www.trustedreviews.com/samson-meteor-mic_Peripheral_review
16.
Dare I ask if the EH big muff deluxe is a similar animal?
You can ask! I don't own the deluxe big muff, but the only Similarity is the DI. The sansamp is an ampeg modeller. The bass bight is a balls out fuzz Pedal. Personally id like to have both!
17. The main reason I have it, and I'd guess this is the main reason for its popularity is its amp modelling. It's is meant to simulate the sound of the ampeg svt all valve heads. It also has an eq, and the all important DI. I use this at the end of my effects board to sound kind of like I'm running an ampeg rig, it just adds that classic colour you would expect from a us valve head. The beauty is if you are playing a gig with a sizeable PA you can perform sans amp (literally without amp) and have a more rich sound than just you good old countryman.
18. I've seen this before... It was right about the time I realised I should stop blaming my limitations as a player on my small hands. Ironically, my playing has improved by leaps and bounds. Napoleon Hill got it right when he said "the only limitations we have, are those we set up in our own mind" Obviously this guy never listened when people told him he would never be able to play. Truly Inspirational, big thumbs up.
19.
Phil Gould, Reni, Alex Van Halen.
Phil Gould? I know he is one hell of a rugby league commentator, didn't know he played drums too! Sorry, I couldn't resist... That joke would be WAY funnier in Australia....

Xmas FX

Sadly, not for me this year. Although I'm getting a gator rack for my brand new GK rb1000ii head that my Mrs let me buy last month, so I can't complain! Ill catch up on some pedals in the new year, rest assured as I have a bad case of GAS right now. I did pick up a set of new old stock russian transistors for a big muff clone I'm planning on building if that counts?
21.
I've had a top year laughing, learning, buying and selling with you horrible lot. Let's do some more in '14! Happy holidays to you all. Rat.
+1, this made me laugh!
22. Hi all basschat peeps. Merry Christmas to you all, good shout Dale. I hope santa brings you all a little something to relieve the GAS!
23.
My GP says it's an ulnar nerve issue but doesn't seem willing to offer a solution
Sorry matey, just saw this... My advice would be find another GP and get a referral to see a specialist. I've only been in the UK for a couple of years and have been amazed at how easily you can slip through the cracks in the NHS. Kick and scream until you get some help, life is too short to be in pain. I know you Brits like to pride yourselves on being stoic, but no one give out medals for suffering!
24. "Who's Andy Fraser?" Ouch! You may remember him from such songs as "all right now" by Free. Ask yourself this one simple question, can you continue to play at your best with numb fingers? I'm tipping the answer is no! Your problem (at least as I see it) is you are too concerned about how everyone else will see you, instead of just finding something that works and rocking out. Trust me, if you have decent chops (and by your saying about receiving complement after playing a shorty, it sounds like you do), just rock out, be confident and have fun, I bet no one will even notice. Especially if you are an average to smaller height and build woman ( I'm treading carefully here), a shorty will look less out of place, it worked for Paul McCartney for years!!! Take what I say with a grain if salt thought, I'm still living in hope that you will one day sell me that Aria Pro ii B&G you beat me to! Merry Chrimbo!
