3. yamaha bb1100s active on the p pickup generally all eq set to full. into korg pitchblack and dod eq for ocasional boost into oeange bass terror eq flat gain approx 10 oclock for a bit of growl into barefaced compact. i generally play finger style quite hard near the neck as i can't get our of the habit of trying to sound like Steve harris and the ox from when i was a teenager.
4. the other comment I've seen about them is toaster or non toaster pickups. is the much difference tonally or is it mostly aesthetics?
5.
My sister lives in Bristol; I should be in the area in May, with any luck. Might be able to drop by with mine for an hour or two.
that would be fantastic. Thank you.
6. that's not a bad shout. Thank you. I'm not sure when I'll next make it over the bridge but if nothing closer comes up I'll be in touch. really appreciate it. Cheers
7. is not a definite want to buy at the moment but a want to try.

Bristol/Bath Bash

Anyone fancy one. I've never been to one but would like to. i know a couple of possible venues and happy to get involved with some of the organising. let me know if you fancy it!
9. I've got real gas for a Peavey T40 at the moment but I've never played one. This is a hopeful request that there is a local (Bath/Bristol) bcer that has one that would let me have a try before i pull the trigger on one. on paper they sound like everything id like but it'd like to try one first. If you can help out drop me a pm. Thanks in advance Steve
10. whats the neck like and is postage an option? ta
11. oh to have some spare cash. I don't need this but I'm really keen to try the Compact/Midget pairing, despite the fact my Compact is loud enough on its own. GLWTS, have a bump.
12. Has this event died a death? I'd still be up for something Bristol/Bath way if the Exeter/Dorset one isn't happening.

15. isnt "at least one more" the answer to this question in all circumstances?
16.
To be honest, I think at the moment a lot of the starter kit has got so much better from when I started playing guitar. I'd avoid Encore though.
I got an encore p bass in a job lot of stuff I bought a while ago and was surprised by it. it was very playable and had a decent tone For a cheap bass. I sold it on for £50 cos i didn't need it but it was a perfectly good for a stater and I was tempted to keep it as a back up.
17. I bought a pedal from paul. It was all as described at a good price and posted in double quick time wirh excellent comms. I'd happily deal with him again as it was a really easy deal. cheers Steve
18. I used to have the mb450 head and ran it with a pair of peavey 210tx cabs both at 4ohm which sounded great. If 300 watts into a 410cab isnt loud enough for you I'd look at a peavey extention cab. much more common 4ohm than Marshall and cost peanuts.
19. Cheers that's what I was thinking but thought I'd better check.
20. oh and I have a hartke bass attack to run though to help the tone.
21. with a view to reducing the amount of stuff I have, I'm thinking of selling my practice amp and using an old peavey active stage monitor (which will do its proper job as a monitor at gigs) for occasional lower volume practice. other than it not being the greatest tone is there any reason not to do this ie will it knacker the monitor? cheers
22. Great cab at a bargain price and you'll never have to go to the gym again. You won't get more bass for your money. Have a bump.
23. my first bass was one of these in red. Have a bump on me.
24. I agree too. none of the cash would have been raised if you hadn't started it. Very glad to have taken part and met some nice people and heard some good music on the way.
25. my point was more that in 20 to 30 years the names haven't changed much at all certainly about 7 would be mainstays harris lee butler burton etc. I was just surprised there hadn't been more variation and younger players coming in.
