1. Sorry duplicate thread. Please delete.
2.
Gary Mac has a corking 75 Fender P for sale in the marketplace http://basschat.co.uk/topic/236109-1975-fender-p-bass-and-original-case/ Might be a bit over budget but you will never lose money on it
Thanks I did see that but as I say not buying at the moment just getting ideas. Also thinking of something other than a Fender. Shergold is an interesting shout I do like the look of them. Thanks
3. I've got a significant birthday next year and my wife has asked if I'd like a bass and if so what I'd want. Given that a Wal is out of the question its got me thinking about YOB basses for 1975 but something that costs in the hundreds rather than thousands so no fenders. Some of my initial thoughts like Peavey T40 or Guild b301/302 apparently didn't start production until later in 70s and other thoughts are a gibson grabber/ripper (I sort of regret selling my G3) or something Japanese eg Tokai or matsumoku but what? Any suggestions for decent basses for reasonable money from this era gratefully received. Final point is I'm just getting ideas and don't have the money at the moment and thebig dayis a few months away so please don't try and sell me anything yet. Cheers

5.
Really pleased with how all this has picked up again. Thank you all ever so much. James
It looks like there's a few more people in the queue for it. South coast and Liverpool manchester way. If it needs a stop off in bristol on its way back North I'm happy to be involved again and know a couple of people who would use it but couldn't this time round. Cheers Steve

11. Your thoughts of the blx led me to find this thread from a few years ago.http://basschat.co.uk/topic/87687-trace-elliot-bass-gear/page__fromsearch__1 This looks the same combo as was for sale here. So it looks like I've got a late blx combo bit with the gsm7 head in it. Thanks for the help.
12. Baton at the Buttercross Inn Chippenham tonight.
13. Thanks. I'd seen some pictures of the blx range that looked similar but as this didn't have the blx badge but only gsm7 on the amp section it confused me a bit.
14. If I had spare cash is bite your arm off but unfortunately skint. Can't belive it hasn't sold already. Very cool bass. Have a bump on me.
15. I recently bought a job lot of stuff with a Trace GSM 7 Combo as I had a hankering to try some Trace Gear and it was good value, I'm just after some insight on these combos as it has a wood front with a slot rather than a grill which all the others I've seen have. I'm just wondering if anyone knows why Trace did this, other than to make it weigh the same as the moon, or if anyone knows any more about these combos? The bloke I got it from had owned it for 12 years after buying it 2nd hand, I assume its a 1x10 and I also got a 1x15 cab with it. Pics are https://www.dropbox....hfJCAgUujjyc3oa Any insight gratefully received. Thanks

Any insight gratefully received. Thanks
17. I put my OBT through a Barefaced Compact and seldom have to push the volume above 3 or 4 as the heads are so loud. I agree your ears will give out before the cab does! Let me know what it sounds like as even though I'm really happy with my current set up I do have gas for a 2X12.
18.
If my current band wasn't requiring a 5 string for every song I'd love to get it back up here at some point! Glad to see the relays still going!
Hi cameron. Someone else had said about 5 strings and possibly stringing it BEAD. Ive got an unused set of 5 strings which I'll stick in the case if anyone wants to do this. Steve
19. The next leg of the bass relay is now confirmed. I will be taking the baton from Bristol to the Heart of Oak in Exeter on Saturday 15th November where Skidder652003, aka Steve from The Jefferson Archive, will be the next to use the bass. Be good to see some other BCers there. I am also trying to get the bass to my drummers other band, The Sleepwalkers, gig at the Buttercross Inn Chippenham on Thursday, to raise a few more ££££££s. Tom Skool in Weymouth or Callum Williams in Liverpool have also put their names forward to have the bass so it looks like the relay is alive and well for now.

21. Thanks. It's a decent bass for not much money.
