1.
Did they make any worthy basses in 1989? Am I stuck with hunting out mundane instruments? Was this a fallow period for Fender or are they, and myself by proxy, not considered vintage yet?
it makes me feel old when people claim 80s guitars are vintage but I guess they have a point. the main difference as I see it with 80s basses and mid 70s was that serial numbers are in much better shape in the 80s. With the exception of the big brands (fender gibson ric etc) 1975 seems to be tricky for accurate dating of the makes which have been suggested to me here, ibanez greco shergold etc where as I'd guess there is more choice of more consistant quality and accuatly datable in 1989. Anything from a wal to a westone depending on your budget.
 2. I had a j style one recently and that was active. I think the hb one could be either
 3. I'll try and sort something out. I've not had any takers yet but I've had a busy week this week. I'll try and do some stops pming this weekend and see what happens. I'm just waiting on my fund raising stuff from cancer research too. Any one who want to get involved just drop me a pm. Cheers Steve
 4. That's a decision for James. I just fancied the idea of getting a few of the band together to top up the fund if we can.
 5. Nothing to stop another one North of the border!

When I dropped the baton off to Steve aka Skidder652003 I thought it would be nice if a few of the bands who have been involved in the relay could get together to for a charity gig to raise some more money for the fund. 8. I think I'm up to date now. Thanks for all the likes everyone, really appreciated.
 9. Rory bought a pa head from me. Really easy deal with excellent comms. I'd happily deal with him again. Cheers
 10.
I think I already have every bass I've ever wanted except for a Rick. Amps I love my GK rig, If I ever buy another rig it will be some sort of configuration from Orange. Blue
Is Not necessarily about what you want. Its about how you would spend £1000 on the market place today. Interesting to see everyone's choices. Cheers
 11.
Not easy with any Slade song, they have done some great tunes slightly overshadowed by the obvious one! (I wired Jim Lea's boiler, he wasn't in though,Lol)
that's a claim to fame. His name should turn up more often on here, really top player and managed to write a hit or two.
 12.
There isn`t much choice being a lefthander. I think there is only a choice of 2 , as the others cost over a grand. The other costs £700, so only one choice if you want a big rig and pedals
assume whatever bass is fit for purpose as long as it's for sale and in budget.
 13.
Goodbye to jane, now that is a good tune, consider it pinched but we are miles away from Brizzle!
You are welcome to it. Its an emergency song for us. We've only done it a couple of times, I really like it but our singer hates singing it.

 15. Inspired by having no money post Xmas and the impending Football transfer window, how about a bit of fantasy football style bass shopping? Scenario is: you have a gig tomorrow and no kit but £1000 budget and access to anything for sale (inc. pending and on hold) in the BC market place what do you buy? Rules at least: 1 bass, and 1 combo minimum Effects, Tuners etc still have to come within budget No maximum amount of stuff or minimum spend Assume you get cables and peripherals like that as part of your deals Other than that the world is you lobster! My choices are: Westone Thunder 1A £140 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/251882-westone-thunder-1a-matsumoku-mij/ Genz Streamliner 600 £350 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/251575-genz-benz-streamliner-600-inc-gb-carry-bag/ Barefaced Compact £350 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/251707-barefaced-compact-gen-1-with-roqsolid-cover-for-trade-or-sale-on-hold-pending/ Korg Tuner £25 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/250295-black-friday-pedal-sale-bbe-opto-stomp-compressor-mxr-m80-boss-ceb-3-bass-chorus-korg-dt-10-tuner/ £865 spent, £135 for beer and chips!
 16. Lee bought a di pedal from me. Really good comms quick and easy deal. I would happily deal with him again. Cheers steve
