  1. Thanks! No, it's an standard Jazz body shape....must be the angles!
  2. Saw them in October '77 at the Top Rank, Cardiff. They were quite awesome as was the support, the Dictators. There was a comedian, Johnny Rubbish, sandwiched in between the two bands. He only managed one line: "I hear you Welsh can't play rugby..." before making a hasty and early exit.
  3. I have for sale my Limelight '64 Jazz in Candy Apple Red and what Classic and Cool describe as a "medium relic". Per the C&C website, the bass features: Gotoh reverse tuners Aged Nitro-cellulose finished neck with Tusq nut, clay dots and hand rolled fingerboard edges with matching headstock Alder body finished in nitro-cellulose Candy Aple Red over silver base coat. Quality vintage bridge CTS pots and Sprague cap Vintage wired Alnico Pick ups Switchcraft jack It has recently been serviced by Mormusic in York and everything works as it should. The bass is great to play and has the the full palette of sounds you would expect from a quality instrument. Weight is (with the bathroom scales method) 9lb 10oz or 4.4Kg. I would very much prefer a pick up/meet up to posting the bass. Photos are below, let me know if you'd like to see more. Thanks for looking! Price reduced to £795 Trades...outright sale preferred, but I might be interested in: Bass VI, An electric or electro acoustic guitar.

  5. Met up with Nik (or rather, he kindly came and met Mrs H and me in our holiday hotel) for some gear trading. As always, Nik was a gent and great company - we had a good chat around matters bass and other important issues over a pint. To the next time Nik! 😂
  6. Better late than never I guess, saw Khurangbin at Leeds O2 Academy on Tuesday. They were awesome - would love to have caught the Glastonbury set in person to compare.
  7. Indeed, though looks like my legs have vanished! Must have gone for levitating instead.
  8. Another open air gig yesterday at a festival in York. Stage seemed huge compared with what we are used to. Nice to have a pro SE and event was well organised. We went down well and have been "pencilled in for next year". We all enjoyed it, though were a bit by bothered by some brief low frequency humming. Probably me...
  9. Thanks! Looks great, sounds great to my ears and balances better than any other bass I've owned.
  10. Thanks Dave. No, it's a Fernandes FPM-80 from around 1981 (similar era to the Elites?). Think I was soloing the neck P most of the time, but the bridge provides an extra cutting edge. Rod
  11. Afternoon gig yesterday at the Black Horse, Wigginton, York. First public gig since 2019 and with a new guitarist and drummer. We enjoyed ourselves and the punters seemed to like it too.
  12. This describes my view I think, though my view of what suits was probably conditioned by the finishes traditionally offered. My"unforgivable" finish is Antigua🙂.
  13. Looks very nice! Also looks like Mark is prepared to go a bit more bespoke than I'd assumed. Think the most off-piste bass I've seen him do was the P with an MM pickup instead of the split coil.
  14. Ann Peebles - Straight From The Heart album eg
  15. Tapes or flats, probably tapes 👍. D'Addarios not Labellas?
