I may have damned Chris Gifford with faint (nearly non existent) praise. Those kitchen sink stories are both affecting and evocative of an era.

Squeeze at Victoria Theatre Halifax last night. Not seen them before, but really impressed with the musicianship, vocal harmonies (there are 8 of them in the stage band, they all contribute), Glen Tillbrook's pipes and, of course, the tunes. Brilliant!

Just bought a P body and J neck from Simon. Great comms, very speedy postage, bomb proof packaging and everything as described. Great guy to deal with. Thanks Simon! 👍

Another ace transaction and another book from the estimable Mick. Always a pleasure, thanks Mick!

I found the thicker picks, while you'd think they'd be great for bass, transferred quite a lot of vibration into my hand, specifically the thumb joint. Got quite uncomfortable Thinner Dunlops as Lozz suggests, I found ideal.

Apologies Rob, I had clean forgotten about the NW Bash! Rod

That would be great! I'm not aware of there having by been Yorkshire "do", at least in recent years. Colour me interested👍!

Just done a flying visit to Newcastle to buy Benedict's Squier Paranormal Rascal. Nice guy to deal with, bass exactly as described (it's fab), gig bag chucked in...thanks Benedict!

Indeed. Arguably pre/proto Goth.

What's the bass/instrument you have had longest?
howdenspur replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in General Discussion
My oldest instrument is a rather battered Kimbara acoustic, which either needs gifting to a charity shop, or using as a test bed for learning how to set up properly. Oldest bass is my RW Precision in 2TSB which I've had for 6 years. Lovely bass, but think that's going to have to go in recognition of what appears to be arthritis in my fretting hand. Short or medium scale here we go...! -
Parking any comment about the odd arrangement the band have remuneration/expenses wise, I would share your discomfort. There is money available, none of which will be going to the dep who is doing everyone a favour.

Sounds interesting, I'm in👍

Never spent so long learning a 3 note song...

Ha, same! We have a wedding on Saturday (singer's nephew, our first gig for nearly 4 years) and we've been asked to do this. It is a tricky blighter to get right🙂 -
Had exactly the same experience seeing The Who with Pino at the First Direct in Leeds a similar time ago - so not a venue problem.
