  1. i picked up a mint marshall JTM-45. White back panel, plexi front can't remember the year for 100 quid. Sold it a couple of years later about '93 for 400 quid. Wish I had kept it. worth a fortune now. I bought a mint E-series squier strat for 100 quid 16 years ago. Awesome guitar, still have it. PRS signature series from 1989 for 1500 quid. Swapped a marshall super bass from 1973 for a '67 SG jr (not sure who had the best deal there) Walked into the bass centre in 1991. Only had 450 quid but fell in love with a status 4000 for £695. I said to Martin in there, I only have 450 quid, he checked what he had paid for the status and sold it to me for £450. I was chuffed to bits
  2. I've just seen on FB they have a new owner and are out of administration Great news
  3. to be honest, what you have probably sounds the same (if it's made the same)
  4. it's probably the same. I got mine 7 years ago, it went in my Bravewood Sting replica. I wanted it to be as authentic to Sting's bass as possible
  5. I got it 7 years ago. Maybe they dont bring it in anymore, I dont know. But it was a custom shop job, and quite expensive IIRC
  6. it was the one Sting used in his 57 only his is wired in parallel. I wire it in series. It says, 'Stinger' on the bottom
  7. get your switch from wd products in the uk. email them a picture and I'm sure you'll get the right bit https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/
  8. I have a seymour duncan stack '51. Sounds nice but because the pole pieces are flat, the E and the G are louder than the A & D. I find it irritating and have to use a little compression to sort it
  9. we covered that in about 8 years ago. Fab song, great harmonies. Needs a tambourine to make that shaker noise at the start
  10. the problem is the length. DHL have a length limit which adds a surcharge. I shipped a bass to the czech republic via Eurosender. I kept the length of the package to 136cm x 49 x25cm. costed about 60euro, including full insurance up to 2000 pounds. It took a while, there was a bank holiday in the way but it turned up ok
  11. some people used to undervalue the goods, so the customs charges would be less, but then you cant insure for the full value I bought some guitars from the states 15-16 years ago. It was way cheaper back then, 2 dollars to the pound etc. You actually have to pay duty on the shipping charge (It is added to the goods value) and then VAT on the whole lot
  12. until 31st december nothing changes in the eu. After that, who knows what will happen
  13. if you're buying from within the EU, there is no duty and taxes. you pay the price and that's it If , however, it is outside the eu, then you'll have to pay duty and VAT
  14. I met her in the lift in our hotel in Brighton. I carried her bag up the last flight of stairs. It was a great gig Met her again in the lift in the morning
  15. I had to pick up a bass and learn this, it was soooo good. I love the way he talks about brushing his hand across the strings, that percussive thing. I've started to try it, and it's making me play without a pick. But then I play fingers, pick and just thumb sometimes. You should all read Guy's book. It's really interesting
  16. My old bass!! This is a truly outstanding bass guitar that deserves a good home. Deal with absolute confidence here, Loz is a truly fine fellow, we did a fab deal where he sent me an almost mint Fender Pbass special from 1982 and some money, then I shipped the XL-2 to him. The condition of this bass is unbelievable really.
  17. Thanks mate, finally all sorted, I'd forgotten just how good this bass is
  18. I'm thinking of selling this as I haven't used it for a couple of years. Only used on 'Police' gigs but since I've had my Bravewood, that's pretty much all I use these days. Excellent Mwah to this one!!
  19. What you need is one of those 70s boat anchors made from ash. They'll smash anything
  20. No mate, you need the fretless version like i have😁
  21. These are lovely basses. I have a 940 that I aquired from John at Bravewood
  22. about 1989 I bought an original '62 P bass from a friend. It was stripped and french polished. It was a lovely thing to play and sounded good. In 1990 I bought my '73 P bass which I still have. It was better than the '62 . I prefered the neck and the sound. I was 22 and couldnt afford to keep both, so I sold the 62 for 550 quid. I wish I hadn't sold it but I still have my '73. It is still the best bass I have played. I just don't know why
  23. It was £1500 7 years ago He actually builds the guitar and lets the laquer cure for about 9 months before he does the relic
