1. I have theRC50 loopstation, chich i chose for the midi functions, so ill answer cased on that. This is what I need: The ability to play for up to three minutes (maybe more) and then repeat that section of music with live playing over the top. Yes, it can do this. The ability to repeat notes once that I've just played (say either a minim or semi breve at 80bpm) so I can play a new note over the top that is then repeated and so on to create layered patterns. You have 3 'Phrases' (like tracks when recording) that you can control individuality. Each can be set to different lengths, and synced to the same midi clock. You can start and stop each at will. Each can be overdubbed (played over and recorded onto) infinity, with an undo function for the last overdub you did. also, you can set to repeat something just once if you wanted to (if that's what you meant). i have a separate switch pedal to set with four buttons, one for each phase to start/stop it, and one to start/stop all. my usual thing is to set things that are always playing to phase 1, and then verse on phase 2, and chorus to phase 3, and hit the switches for them both at the same time to switch between. this can be done without the extra control pedal, but requires a bit more foot work. Flashing tempo would be good. There is an LED that flashes in time with the temp you set. Memory functions for settings would be good too. Yep. you can set knob values to either what the knob says, or memory (and then they change when you twiddle with the knob) ]Also being able to store pre-played sections of music would be great. i think you have about 50min of memory that you can save, split between the 3 phases, and can be saved onto upto 99 patches (songs). You can upload mp3s instead of recorded loops i believe, but havnt tried. Midi clock sync/send could be useful, but if I can set the tempo's then it's not essential. there is midi in and out (you can set out to be thru). i have my drum machine (electribe esx1) and delay pedal (eventide timefactor) synced fine to it. it will sync to other units, but only when it revives a start message, which will start the selected phase to record. It is still the most functional looper pedal as far as midi is concerned that i have come across. most simply dont have midi. Be weary of the RC300, i hear that it only syncs to other RC300 units. RC50 should do all of the above. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. im sure someone else will be along with experience with other looper pedals for comparison. (couldn't set those questions as quotes for some reason, kept not letting me post.)
2. If this is the only pedal you have with more current requirement than your power supply, and you can spare two isolated outputs for it, maybe try a current doubler?
3. What gets me about most charity gigs is that they find money to pay the security, caterers, bar staff, sound guy, venue, etc. but when it comes to the band, its fine, they're artists, they'll do it for free…
4. the only thing i have after my delay pedal is my loopstation if im using it. Seams to work well. I would try sticking it in different positions in the chain though, delay is one of the types of effects that can dramatically change when put before different effects instead of after them.
5. Man that thing can make some awesome annoying noises. Seams more like the kind of thing that would be better to have made than to have brought; "hey whats that?" "Its the kettle i turned into a wird synth thing" "why?" "why not" vs "hey whats that?" "Its the weird kettle synth thing i brought" "why?" "why not"
6. As someone with an almost exclusively digital pedalboard, its strange hearing 100mA as demanding…
7. i just want to ask him, "perfect size for what?". For example, my pedalboard a mate made me is the perfect size to fit inside the flightcase i had laying about whilst comfortably fitting allot of my always-on pedals. My board is a different size to that board.
8.
If you're looking to get a tuner, many can be used to power other pedals via a daisy chain.
Is three an advantage of this over having the tuner in the daisy chain? i always thought it was for powering just one other pedal.
9. if you want a cheaper approximation of the sansamp tone, the behringer bdi21 gets allot of praise.
10. In my search for a pedal to soften the highs of my IE frantabit (here) I eventually found that the deesser patch on my MS60b did exactly what i wanted. I now want a dedicated de-esser pedal to shove in a loop with my frantabit. A quick google beings up only TC-Helicon pedals that use a combination compression/eq/de-esser/gate. Anyone know of a dedicated De-esser? what is my best option here for this? Thanks in advance, elephantgrey.
11. Getting a DI box with ground lift can be a life saver live. My sugestion is that whatever you end up with, you make sure that either your DI box has that, or whatever pedal you use for DI does.
12. This pedal with a control-selectable expression goes with the monarch with a mix, and a venture bros themed pain job goes on my modded EQD GAS list...
13.
I have an idea for a pedal to build, basically a 1590A mini enclosure with a momentary switch that would simulate an expression pedal fully down then when pressed fully up. Thought behind it would be for a non latching octave up paired into a line 6 M5. Is this possible at all? I tried to just use a tap tempo pedal I built but sadly it didn't work! Any help would be great
Im not to sure about what input the M9 takes for expression (as in mono or stereo) so you might have to adapt for that, but an expression pedal works basicaly like a pot, so you could use a momentary switch, in/out on the middle conection, and a pot wired to each end conection, so you are switching between two pots. That way you could set the value when the switch is pressed or not.
14. I found an unexpected solution to what i wanted when playing about with my board this morning, the defret algorithm on the MS60b. Takes the nastyness out of the high end of the frantabit without taking it away completely like a lpf or something like that, so nice swells on the bandpass delay still, but the top end is defined enough so you can hear what im playing. Im wondering if there is a stand alone defret effect out there, that i can stick in a loop with the frantabit (and free up the slot again on the ms60b for the detune/whatever else)? or is it the kind of thing you only see in multieffects units?
15. Heres the Ovnilab review of it, you might find helpful.
16. there a switch to turn it back to normal, or is it mod only?
17. Drop this guy a message explaining what you want to do, he should be able to make you up a box to do it, with two inputs, two each with its own effects loop, a tuner out and a merged out (maybe with volume controls for each). note: im not associated at all with them, i just rate them highly for things like loop pedals and switch box's.
18. Personally, im a little disappointed. Shure, there where quite a long wait time on the pedals, but the communication from Taylor was good from what i hear, and the gap where they werent making pedals had some explanations behind it (illness and a couple of the guys who build the pedal left). I was hoping to get a new frantabit made, in a larger case, with different knobs for each sample rate mode, and a separate footswitch to switch between them. I guess as long as they keep pumping out pedals to the same quality though, thats the main thing.
19.
The Lo-Fi Sponge can supposedly turn a distorted, delayed, reverbed signal back to dry again. The idea being you can put it at the end of your chain and quickly go back to clean at any time (why not just use a bypass loop?): http://www.absolutem...onge-pedal.html
just two things sum up what im thinking about this pedal: How? Why? I would be tempted to put an order in just to see what the heck this pedal did, if it wast due in feb next year.
The UnTune on the other hand, has vocal presets to morph your voice into Bob Dylan our Michael Buble! http://www.absolutem...tune-pedal.html
why would a vocal pedal have jack connections instead of XLR? and isnt this just an octave effect?
20. That jazz sound would be lovely though bass (presuming it tracks bass well) with a LPF on it and mixed back in with some dry bass.
21.
Incidentally, a sample rate reducer when fed with a fuzzed envelope filter does some really amazing chunky vowel sounds. The benefit over using a formant filter pair is you still get lots of bass frequencies. I discovered it quite by accident by putting my Squeezer into my Bugcrusher one day.
Thats an analogue one you talking about, not a true sample rate reducer?
22.
The EHX Talking Machine is a lot of fun on bass.
Thats a formant filter right?
