Ah okay then. the other two options still stand.

Strangely the Jr version of that supply is isolated, but that one isnt (isolated outputs help reduce noise). looks like the cheapest option thats isolated is this one, but not much room for expansion. The gigrig power system is the best power supply. Its the one i use. It has 5A(5000mA), and can power most pedals with adapters. If you dont care that much about isolated outputs, then the one-spot will do.

I have a joyo vintage drive on my board and i like that. i have it in a blend/feedback loop after a bitcrusher, and can get some nice sounds out of it (and a few weird/nasty sounds).

What is the image under 'Controls' from?

but they dont have a midi output, id have to run a laptop just to send midi data to other devices, id rather something that could sit on my board.

Bass compressors that keep zingy top? COMPRESSOR PICKED!

ovnilabs says that the cs2 rolls off the highs, and looses a bit of lows when bypassed. that and it only has level attack and release controls (no separate threshold ratio and makeup(/input) gains). and off the top of my head i dont think it has metering, so would be hard to dial in even with a full range of controls. -
Best one I have used it's the Gigrig Generator with Distributors. Pretty much you can run as many pedals from it as you wish...not the cheapest power supply but it's top quality.
Its the system i use, its got the highest current ive seen, and by far the most versatile. I would say its a bit overkill unless you have a few awkward/thirsty pedals. That or a ton of analogue fuzz's.

This thread from earlier in the week might be helpful. I suggest picking up a power block with isolated outputs, as it will help reduce noise.

you could also use a loop/blender pedal, where as an AB pedal takes two inputs and switches between them, a loop pedal takes your signal, splits it in two, and then merges those two into one again, letting you switch between them. These can also come with a blend option, which mix both of the two signals together.
are you running through a Laptop style rig running a DAW? What is your purpose in converting to MIDI?
No, im planning to use the midi to trigger notes off of either my drum machine (korg lectribe esx1) or a gameboy (using a special midi adapter and a special cartage to use it as a synth)
-
Im not sure a foot controler will suit my purpose really. Im looking to trigger notes off of my electribe and/or trigger notes from a gameboy (via LSDJ or something similar + a midi interface). Youd think with all the synth & octave pedals marketed at bassists there would be more available in the way of midi. I cant really afford to sink 1.5k into this at the moment, so i guess that ill probably end up going with a B2M then.
-
Im thinking of adding a gameboy to my board, cause who doesnt need more chiptune craziness? And maybe adding a sine and/or triangle under my bass for extra subyness (probably via my electribe). What are my options for converting my bass signal into midi these days? Am i still looking at either the boss pickup or the sonuus b2m?

Strangely i have got half an idea to chain compressors myself, but for a different purpose. I use a MB Compressore at the start of my chain to tame my playing a bit, and make my drive 'section' of my board behave a bit more. What im thinking of is putting a compressor at the end of my chain (just before delay) so i can use it to sidechain the kick. I think in your case though, your better off going with an EQ pedal or a boost/od pedal. You dont really want to squeese all of your dynamics out for a volume increase, where an eq would let you pick out preferable freq.s or a boost could let you colour your sound.

Putting together my first pedal board. Questions.

Wow i didnt think that the harley benton one was isolated, thats a cracking price to use for a small board then. -

I use the gigrig power supply system for my power needs, though i use a few digital pedals that get thirsty. A general rule for power supplies i find is to look at the back/manual of the pedals and note down for each pedal the voltage, current (how many mA) and if they are centre negative or positive. Then a good rule of thumb is to add up all the mA and double it. That should give you a good idea of how big a power supply you need, allowing you plenty of headroom. I would highly suggest getting an isolated power supply. Some popular supplies are: the gigrig system(usualy a bit overkill), T-rex fuel tanks, voodoo labs, and cioks. If you look at the for sale section on here (either the pedals or other music related sections) you see some go up for sale from time to time. -
If you are at all worried about midi, then id sugest finding an RC50 instead of an RC300. As far as i have read the RC300 only connects to other RC300, whilst my RC50 has worked fine sync'ed up with my delay and drum machine.
-
If you need an ABY pedal anyway, why are separate wet/dry outputs necessary when you can use a 2loop blend pedal instead and just set the octave to 100% wet? Unless you have an aby already.

Here is a link to the other thread.

Im guessing bright onion will get back telling you that he can make up the thing you want. I wanted a 4 switch controller thing for my boss RC50 (my recording type of looper) and he was able to make up exactly what i wanted in one enclosure. Im not sure that the line selector will do what you want, it has an effects loop, and a blend, but only one other input for an instrument.
-
So if im reading that correctly, what you want is a pedal that has two inputs that you can select between, and an effects loop that lets you bypass an effect (click between effected and clean). I was going to say that youd probably have to get a custom order for something like that, but the guy i usually point towards for such things has this as a stock pedal already. (copied from the other thread)

sorry, didnt notice this was the double post >.> copied to the other thread.

Well, the problem comes when we use two effects modes, both at different volumes (with no master volume control on the pedal), so that i could shove it in a loop, and set the volume that way, but then when we change the effect from the pedal, the volume would be different. Also, i have a feeling part of the problem is that it would require volume changes mid set, meaning that the singer would have to work something electrical. Also the vocoder effect takes a line from the guitarist, so that level changes on a whim.
-
Well they are both too loud, but the vocoder is louder than the gender bender. I could just put it in a loop with a volume pot, but dont really trust the singer with that. It would be best if i could get a pedal to match the volume of the two signals. So a sidechained compressor takes the main signal, and lowers the volume (before makeup gain) based on the volume of the sidechain signal. Maybe what i want is an expander, so that the sidechained signal's volume is increased based on the sidechain signal?
