You could always run a clean boost before it so you can give it extra gain when you need it.

And to add to 51m0n, compressors can also be used to add another layer of control to other effects. I use mine at the start of my chain, and it helps me have more control over my dirt pedals. After dirt pedals they can be used to let you up the gain of them, and pull back the volume after. They can also be used to tweek envelope controlled effects, or to reign in delay/verb pedals.

just reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzv9g_NOE6I Depending on how out of control the delays get, i would maybe think of adding a limiter to the end of them (next to the tuner) so that it can stop them escalating to too much of a volume. If those are the right combination of preamps you need to get the tone(s) you want, and you can get them from point A>B and back again okay, then id say dont worry about that. As for pedal order, i dont think that there would be many presidents for gigged boards with that many delays on them. Id just suggest just playing about with order, just to see what happens. Maybe adding a pedal in between some of the delays, maybe just to see what happens. You can always put them back to this same order after. Pedal order is one of those things, if its not broke, play about with it anyway. you might find something better ^_^.

I would mainly use a 31band eq to add more headroom on mics (turn up the mic until it feedbacks, then drop that freq from that mics monitor, repeate 2/3 times, then turn down to sencible volume).

The zoom units have a pitch shift. Id try out the b1on, its pretty cheep.

I like to use my compressor at the start of my chain, it lets me have a little more control over how much drive i get out of my dirt pedals, and also keeps my right hand in line when i get a bit… excited.

If you/anyone else are using any time based effects/modulation (or even using another looper), id highly recommend using midi to sync them together. Unfortunately this leaves you with only a few larger looper pedals. I use a boss RC50 for this. There seams to be a gap in the market for smaller footprint loopers with midi.

From what i understand its all about impedance, which naturally drops by simply passing through a cable. An active bass already buffers the signal, increasing the impedance so that it can drop furtherer before the effects are noticeable. adding a buffer at the start and the end of a pedal board will also help. Something to note would be that some fuzz's (fuzzfaces come to mind) incorporate your bass's pickups into their circuitry, and having a buffer in between them will prevent this (also why some fuzz pedals sont work well with active bass's) Edit: Ive just reminded my self that pantherairsoft's pedalboard company does a buffer interface. I must look into it, I was thinking of geting one but by the time life stopped getting in the way i had forgotten about it…

I use a MS60b along with a few standalone pedals. I wouldnt really know about the synths, i mainly use it for a [preamp > ampsim > noisegate] between my dirt pedals and my delay. Id agree that its best to get a multi as a newcomer into the effects world, just be careful as they are a whole new outlet for GAS…

You could also try adding a compressor after the filter to even out the gain.

If your looking for a multiFX, then I sugest one of the newer zoom units (b3, ms60b, or b1xon). I use the ms60b, and really am getting on well with it. I have recently started using a reverb on it and quite like it. I am using a eventide delay after it so don't know how the delays are really.

If your talking about the ehx models, the regular bass big muff pi lacks blend options, and suffers a bit from having scooped mids for me. The deluxe bass model has a crossover and blend, so is allot more versatile.

I have a DS1 clone and its pretty good, would like to get one geared more towards bass, preferably one that keeps the low end a little better and a blend. Anyone know of any?
