1. Tune your bass cheaply bump
2. Thanks loads for the info
3. Could I ask is the RC now capable of OD/Distortion as per the BB preamp as well as the normal clean boost function? cheers lee
4. That's absolutely stunning!! I need to see the back now go on show us your back
5.
Here's my VM P5, modded a bit to save weight. I've installed licensed by Hipshot Ultralite tuners and an aluminium A style bridge and aluminium knobs. (I'm not quite sure if the new bridge has altered the tone at all, which is a good thing too as it sounded great anyway, but it has made a difference to weight of the body which is all I was after there) I had my luthier mate rout out the body under the pickguard too. It weighed 9 1/2 lbs when I took delivery of it and now I've got it down to 8 1/2 lbs (I could've sent it back and kept looking for a lighter one I suppose but I was so pleased with the fit, finish and feel of this bass that I couldn't part with it!) I've also dropped an American Standard P5 pickup in that I picked up here on the BC classifieds along with a KiOgon wiring harness. There wasn't anything about the original pup and pots etc that made me want to change them, it's just the USA pup came up on here for a song and I had the wiring harness from an old project anyway. Played in isolation it does sound a little more refined but the original Squier pickup has it's own throaty quality that is equally valid. When cranked loud with a band the difference is negligible anyway I reckon. It plays, feels and sounds fantastic! Very pleased indeed I tried to get some decent pics of the finish in the sun today as the Candy Apple Red looks legit to me, as in it does look like a clear red over gold in a traditional way rather than just a thick coat of a single metallic red. It has some lovely coppery sparkles when the light catches it which my pics don't show too well unfortunately. A killer bass for the money even when stock. B-) Edit: I jammed last week with my two oldest friends who have heard me playing all my basses over the years, back to when I was young, free and single enough to be able to spend silly money on basses - they said this Squier is the best sounding bass I've ever had! (they're not the type to mince their words either) I have to agree.
Really nice mods, im still saving for a Nordstrand and a new harness, im not too bothered about replacing the bridge/tuners though. I think I'm lucky as mine is already quite light, ive been trying to source a gold anodised pickguard for mine! does anyone know if the US P 5 guard would work? cheers
6. Just bought a bassballs from Pat! A very fine chap and a good deal. pedal arrived when expected, thanks Pat
7. Great basses I love mine, id have preferred a white one though mines sunburst
8. Pepperoni SOLD only the tuner left!
9.
Just wired this up with Van Damme cables. Trimmed down the board to the bare essentials for the gigs I'm currently doing (I've got a PT Nano to run a modular setup if I need anything extra.)
very nice, you got the empress in the end then
10. Said it already, bought one of these on October and its the best £200 I ever spent I love it. still keep wondering about a Nordstrand though, but I can't put the thing down a great bass
11. I am very pleased to see the name has stuck as I named this bass Rita after Rita Heyworth as I name my basses after classic holly wood actresses -lol I loved this bass and only got rid of her to get a Ken Smith. She came to me with aa standard white plate, but I put an aged white pearl which looked lovely. Please let me know of you move her on, I do miss her
12. bump for added trades
13. Hi Everybody Just bought a new compressor need get rid of a couple of bits KORG DT 10 TUNER Sold Fantastic tuner and built like a tank,I've had it a while and its a bit used looking but works perfectly. It also features a very good buffer to combat tone suck, selling as I've bought a TC polytune mini to make room on my board. Lovely big bright LED'S and visible in daylight. £25 incl post I cant get pics up at present but I can email to interested parties, I will also consider part trades with an EHX nano big muff or boss odb3 cheers lee
14. Same as mine, erm without the multitude of mods. I've had mine 22 years and I can't imagine being without it. These are incredible basses and this one's at a great price
15. I still quite fancy one of these! not sure if it's worth getting rid of my microbass for gas is a terrible thing.
16. Just bought a 3 leaf compressor from Bob! Top fella and pedal was very well packaged and arrived exactlywhen he said it would. will happily deal with again
17. Pm,d re pwnzor
18. lovely bass, id be very tempted. not sure if the wife would approve
19. These look fantastic, especially at the price point. I'm very tempted by the 5, shame the bridge pickup isn't in the 70,s position
20. i bought a dark green warwick streamer lx brand new in 98 (slim wenge neck) used it all over the world for years and it was a bit dinged. I sold it to buy a 90 neck through streamer in a refinished cherry red (which recently sold on here) which I didn't like nearly as much. I did see it turn up on ebay (the green one) few years later but didn't have the funds to buy it back, one of the best basses ive owned in 25 years of playin. I would also like back the ibanez musician I foolishly let go for £125, it did come up for sale on here a couple of years ago, but I didn't have the cash again I'm not even going to go into the ken smith and music man sterling I absolutely adored and moved on.
21.
The new Bassbones do have a dedicated 10Meg piezo preamp now, but they are still unity gain pieces and as such are not meant to drive power amps. yeah I did get very excited about the new bassbone, until I realised it was still unity gain. They have made a lot of improvements over the original. The RMI Bass witch looks great, however if I recall correctly the second channel does not have eq!
22. I've had mine a couple of months and I love it, Im playing it much more than my other basses (it's got a lovely neck) I've been tempted to get a Nordstrand pickup but there's nothing really wrong with the stock. maybe a new wiring loom and i love the idea of getting a gold anodised pick guard made by the bass doc as mines the sunburst the only thing I did do was put on some La Bella low tension flats and has schaller straplocks.
23.
I was going to suggest this also. Didn't know aut the piezo optimisation!
Channel B has a higher input impedance, than channel A ( A = 10 Mohm B = 1Mohm- i think this makes it a higher impedance). I bought my original MB2 (I'm on my second) as I'd read the NS WAV I'd bought at the time required 1MOHM and i wanted to switch. TBH not sure if optimised was the right word, but it did work very well with the WAV piezo. I had a radial bassbone which dones not have high impedance inputs and it does not drove a power amp very well ( I struggled with my Berg IP, with the bassbone).
24. The EBS microbass 2 is great, one of the inputs is optimised for piezo pickups so ideal for upright/EUB. One channel is a drive channel, however with the drive right down its still fairly clean/warm. It also has an effects loop and headphone amp, not as easy to blend the signals as the radial
25. Pm'd re big muff
