I've been hunting for the perfect OC-2 ish thing for my board, and eventually decided the only way to figure this out was to gather as many of the options as I could. After some discussions on the 3Leaf and OC-5 threads I ended up filming some of the comparisons in the hope that it can be useful to someone in the same situation as me. The options available were: Boss OC-2 (the old faithful) Boss OC-5 3Leaf Octabvre Mk1 COG T-47 (2x T-16) (the current incumbent) Markbass RAW Octaver MXR Vintage Bass Octave I've tried to use musical examples for context. If anyone has any questions please let me know! I'm still gathering my thoughts and will report back a little later, including what happened when we did a blind test with my OC-2 loving friend. The current settings are always shown onscreen. I would also love to hear from anyone who has compared the Octabvre Mk1 to the brand new model, which i couldn't get my hands on!

These two beauties arrived from Ergo straps in Chile this week! I've tried an absolute ton of different straps, and these seem awesome so far, on a par with the Gruvgear/Mono for comfort but real works of art. Not exactly cheap though!

I appreciate you were being specific to the situation, not a generalisation! From the perspective of a working bassist who loves working in the EU, (and missing working at all!)... My friends/colleagues and I are just feeling devastated at the moment. We've lost people, we've lost our livelihoods, and at least some of it feels avoidable. We'll do anything to feel like we have some say! Not to mention the obsession with fishing rights.... When you're desperate you tend to do seemingly pointless things, as the other options start running out!

It's more half the UK wanting it's cake, and the other half eating it. I'm not sure calling musicians who are at this point battered and bruised from the toughest of times pathetic for doing anything they can to just try and keep some hope is the most appropriate response on a forum about music... I agree that the EU has absolutely no obligation to help us, but you have to realise that the vast majority of signees didn't want any restrictions either way from the start!

I've got a thread on here for my Synth Bass stuff, but recently i've decided to dig a little deeper into some of my favourite bass tracks, both Electric and Synth. Partly to keep me in playing shape, largely as a project to keep me sane! It also encourages me to get to know the quirks of the basses I have here a little better. I'm trying to keep everything under a minute, which is a fun arrangement exercise! I've been refreshing myself on the Beatles catalogue recently so here's a few starters... Like the Apple of OC-2 clones... I'm still sorely tempted but i've seen a few shots of the new ones having some fairly major cosmetic issues, labelling coming off and the finish tarnishing very quickly. I'd rather wait and see a few batches and some gig-time down the line before dropping that kind of money!

The KK Baby Basses could be a bet too. Perfect sound for more Latin styles, I'd happily use one for function work. Prices a little cheaper than some of the options here, and a few different models available.

I have a feeling my OC-2 has been modded to run at full volume with 9V. The common issue seems to be that the originals were designed to run at 12v (ACA adaptor) so for most people they lack volume.

I’ll comment more when I’ve put out the full video, but I’m definitely rethinking which one goes on my board from the collection. 6 great pedals but I’m developing a clear favourite. Trying to get across the feel and ‘subby’ness is tricky!

Here we go... whilst waiting for the MXR to arrive I've put together a little Boss Blind Test shootout! I'd love to hear what you thought before the reveal! Going to film the 6-pedal test over the next few days, so any feedback/requests very welcome, I want them to be as useful and representative as possible. Trying to keep the playing simple, and there's no EQ/compression going on at all. Edit... for the Sub only settings the OC-2 is maxed, and the OC-5 at about 2 O'Clock. Both pulled back a little alongside the dry signal.

If anybody fancies sending any of these over... ! There's always opportunity for round 2 anyway!

I managed to find a VBO for sale, so it's a nice bunch for the shootout! I've been getting familar with all of them over the last few days, it's been very interesting. I swear my favourite changes on an hourly basis! Initial thoughts on the OC-5 are that it's very impressive!
