I know it's not really the done thing to advertise here, but i feel in this case I might be helping someone out. Will be returning the Mantle if only because I'll never sell the Noble, but I'd be delighted with either. As I got it for a small discount, and it's readily available, I have put it in the classified today only in case somebody would like to save a little/jump the queue.

This is a bit of one day only thing... I can return it but given that i got it a little cheaper than retail and it's readily available i thought I'd offer it out here for what i paid, including UK mainland postage. As anyone who is looking at this will have probably seen, I've been shooting out a bunch of preamps and I've been finding it impossible to come to a conclusion, seem to have a different favourite every time. With that in mind, I've decided, for now, to stick with the ones I know the best, although I can see myself revisiting this down the line. Very happy to answer any questions you might have! Haven't taken any pics but it's a brand new mantle, used on my desk for some testing.

Barber Linden EQ Pedal. Baxandall style EQ pedal, similar in style to a B15/Fender amp EQ but with some interesting options on the toggle switches. Remarkably similar to the Noble DI in the way that these interact and a lovely parter to the JF Luce DI as I've found out this week. Price includes UK Postage.

Trying lots of new things lately, and now it's time to let some of them go. A pretty glorious older EHX Bass Microsynth. More pleasing than the current edition, if a little more space-hungry on the pedalboard. Comes with a power supply. eBay & Reverb would suggest prices in the £600-£800 region, but pricing more realistically for a Basschat sale. UK Postage included.

This is a special one... Swamp ash body, roasted maple neck and fretboard with black blocks. The full Sandberg masterpiece treatment, including vibration and heat, and some of the best heavy ageing available. I need to properly weigh and photograph this over the next few days, but it's the lightest solidbody bass I have here by quite a margin. UK Shipping absolutley doable, collection welcome. Comes with high quality Sandberg gigbag, and a spare set of pickups (white covers). Any and all questions very welcome! . .

Some of you may have heard my demos of this... I didn't want to miss out on hearing it for myself but the similarity to my Noble is the reason i'm letting it go, as I'll never be moving that on and some of the other options I've tried offer something a little different. Listing for a little less than price paid, and the opportunity for someone on the (i believe a few months long) preorder list to jump the queue. Brand new condition, gentle studio use only. Including Special Delivery, mainland UK.

Given the nature of the Bird... I'd prefer collection/Delivery but well packaged and very insured postage is possible. This one has been my gateway drug, and before i knew it i've bought myself an old single pickup model. It's in mint condition, and comes with a great padded gigbag. Pretty light at 3.8 kg, and personally I haven't had an issue with neck dive as these sometimes suffer from. These are proper neck-through models like the originals. As always please hit me up with questions/photo requests! .

@mattpbass I think if you are already using a Capo for shaping things you’ll be very very happy with this. Playing around again this morning and flat they are so similar

Here you go... Noble with flat EQ followed by Luce. Noble is about 4/5db louder in this setting.

@thumbo I've recorded some Luce X DCX clips... will put them up in the next few days. I think that's going to be a popular combo!
-
I know there's some eager to hear, so here's a quick late night comparison. 4 different clips, recorded through 4 DIs (In no particular order, Mantle, Noble, Luce, Caveman)... First two are P with flats, 3 & 4 are Sandberg TT4 with rounds. I'll put the order below under a spoiler warning for those who wish to let their ears do the work. Interested to hear your pre-spoiled thoughts! Tried to keep things as consistent and simple as possible. Something bigger and more in-depth coming soon! Recorded straight into a UA Apollo, gain level shown. I definitely have thoughts... mainly that i'd be pretty much happy with any of these if it was all I had. I set each one to taste rather than trying to really match them up. The gain on the Mantle has a big effect on the voicing, much to learn there. Important to remember the Luce is NOT a preamp, just a DI, although it certainly has colour.

@binky_bass will pass on, thankyou

At the risk of upsetting Basschat, Hefty 😁

I only have a few minutes to dabble today... all i can say is this does live up to my expectations, and maybe exceeds them! I really like it, but then i suppose i've always fallen for influencer hype...

Mantle is here! Won’t be able to plug it in until later 😬

Thanks @Bass Direct Not getting into the more complicated aspects of this, just sad that someone waited a few months for their custom order and NBD was a washout. I’d be gutted, and it’d be awesome if we managed to find it for them.

Slightly related but a little too late for this case... i insure my valuable packages through Secursus. £10 per £1000 value roughly, and i've had them pay out before for a damaged speaker. Cheaper and more dependable than the broker/courier scammy insurance with a ton of clauses. Worth a look for sure!

Brilliant find... thankyou!

Just helping out my friend Mark of Classic & Cool Guitars/Limelight basses. Hope this is the best place for it but feel free to move it! It was last seen in a tweed traditional-style case. I don't know if the new owner is a member here! Hoping to make it too hot to handle... Here's what Mark has to say: On the 29th/30th December this bass was stolen on route to its new owner in Nuneaton. It was collected by Parcelforce, arranged via Interparcel. The bass is a one off completely unique instrument and won’t be easy to off load for cash. It is a custom made Limelight bass in Ice Blue Metallic, made to look like a bass used by Coldplay. An investigation into its disappearance was made, but it was declared “as lost”, and couldn’t be found. I’m not happy with this as ParcelForce know which driver was collecting that day, and the depot it should have been delivered to next. This has cost me over £1000 personally. The Police will be informed. If you see this bass offered for sale, do not buy it as its stolen goods and will be confiscated.
