Bartlett Double Bass Microphone £150 - *SOLD*
knicknack replied to knicknack's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
I'm considering trying the Yamahiko at some stage, although i've been happy with the Full Circle so far in a mix. Here's a shot of the Bartlett in place. I like the ease of use, no faffing with stands/clamps etc. If you are looking for something budget friendly to fill the Schoeps role, I can highly recommend the Line Audio CM4. I use it for recording all the time, and have used it live in very low volume environments! -
I've had mine around 4 years now... I must say that the new insert that is available (and i think stock on the current model) makes this case far more useful. I do alot of supports, and quick in and out gigs, and usually don't change basses often during a set, so this really hits the spot. Far easier than carrying two cases around for me, and i never have to worry about my instruments at all.

Happy user of an M88 on an ampclamp here, just slides into place every time!

Bartlett Double Bass Microphone £150 - *SOLD*
knicknack replied to knicknack's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
Hey @bassadder, certainly not 'better' as all the mics you mention sound fantastic... just the nature of where it's designed to be placed means more signal over bleed from other instruments, and it's EQ'd to work in the spot. I find any other mic in the same place needs a large dose of low cut to work, usually to the point where there's not much use. In my own situation the DPA/Nadine are just not capturing enough bass vs ambience to give me any benefit, and whilst the Bartlett is far better in that regard I can't seem to stop certain band members firing very loud wedges directly at my bass which makes the whole thing unviable anyway! Hope this makes any sense... The CMC6 is a dream mic, but honestly I can't see that working live for me either. I'll try to get a photo of it in place later! -
Slapping, popping and percussive bass
knicknack replied to Burns-bass's topic in EUB and Double Bass
@Burns-bassIf you want some proper tuition on the subject Ian Jennings down in Exeter is one of the UK's finest, and he might be willing to spend some time with you. He's best known for playing with Jeff Beck and Andy Fairweather Low, both sadly non-active gigs now so he may have some time on his hands! Drop me a PM if you'd like me to enquire. -
2020S Steel-Core Instrument Transformer Now discontinued, the Lightning Boy 2020S replicates to a degree the effect of the transformer on my large Cali76, which I love having in a loop even if not using the compressor. The LB is a little subtler (being passive), but does bring back some of the magic i miss without the cali, and with a bit of boost ahead of it things got very similar indeed. The more signal into it, the stronger the effect! £95 posted in the UK

Bartlett Double Bass Microphone Specially designed and EQ'd to sit in the soundhole without producing a dominant low end, I've had this for a few months and used with the Felix above. Definatley the most giggable mic option i've tried so far over the DPA, Nadine etc. That said, our stage volume is ridiculously loud and I'm giving up on the notion I can make any mic work! This came to around £250 after postage and customs, I'm seeking £150 Posted. Bass Mic – Bartlett Audio Grace Designs Felix2 Preamplifier This is the top-dog of double bass/acoustic guitar preamps! 2 channels and a bunch of routing options. In excellent condition, used a couple of times before circumstances changed, with original box/power cable etc. This is the current (2nd Gen) Version. £1150 UK postage included. SOLD FELiX2 - Grace Design

Have just shared this with a friend of mine who may be a great fit 🤞 -
A few odd bits I'm not using anymore, prices including UK Postage. David Gage Realist Docking Station... designed to sit on the tailpiece as a volume control for a realist pickup. All the way anti-clockwise clicks the control out of the chain completely. £55 T-Bone Ovid Bass Microphone System... photo shows an over bridge mounting but i personally prefer under, near the body for live use, or even over the F-hole with a touch of HPF. £45 SOLD

I have an OC-2 schematic somewhere, message me if that'd be useful at all!

Hey @gypsyjazzer, I have this Armstrong pickup that was made for my previous bass. Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? Attaches with Dual Lock to the end of the fingerboard. I use synthetic core strings, so it's been sitting in a drawer for a while!

I've been on a bit of a string journey recently, with the arrival of a new bass. Who'd have guessed it, I ended up using the same strings (Evah Weich) I've loved for years! All prices include UK postage. Pirastro 'The Jazzer' £140 These were on my bass for a week, and have seen 2 gigs. Terrible name, great string! Often described as a little mellower than a Spirocore, and would be my pick if I was going steel core. Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold/Slap (Fully synthetic set) £140 SOLD These have probably done 7-10 gigs on my bass. Low tension, with the aim of being a little more of a gut emulation. Really easy on the hands, and good for more than just the 'slap' crowd. There's a little unwinding going on up at the top end well inside the peg box on the G, which does seem to be quite common with Pirastro synthetics in general. With my experience of pirastro, they would likely replace this string if it became a problem, excellent support. Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Weich G £5 GONE Here's a G I have used for around 2 months, showing a slight unwinding which on my bass was just above the nut. As mentioned above, Pirastro were kind enough to replace this for me even though it still has some usable life in it. I'm happy to offer it for the cost of postage to anyone who may find it useful!

@BassAdder27 check out Orchid Electronics for a range of options. They always win in a shootout, really well made and within your budget! Far superior to anything else in the price range.

@Bloopdad1Thankfully Thomann have got that stuff figured out, so there shouldn't be any extra cost 👍
