1. I think tuners are like 9v batteries. I always have more spares than I could possibly need. Fair enough for the various things I use that happen to have a tuner in them, but why do I keep my Pitchblack (apart from it being easy to see in the dark and an ultra reliable tuner)?
2. So, I have just settled in for a couple of hours practising after having tidied up and reorganised my pedals and amp and I noticed that I have four tuners in my signal chain: Korg Pitchblack TC G major 2 Line 6 Bass Pod XT Pro Shure Beta Wireless GLX16 I'm expressly not counting tuners not in gig rig such as the ne in my practice amp, etc. How many do you have?
3. If the Korn logo and signature weren't there, I would want this. A beautiful bass.
4. It looks like the ginger love-child of the Ritter family. Close, but not close enough.
5. I've got the Shure GLXD16. Expensive but perfect. Long life rechargeable battery. Metal housing. Flawless transmission.
6. Thanks Dood, I swapped it for a Roscoe 6 string that Dan was after. He has had an after-market preamp put in which make it a bit more sonically versatile. As I split my time between children and partner it made sense for me to have a Dingwall in each house so that I have one wherever I gig. That's what I tell myself, anyway.
7. They don't do it for me, but I seem to be in a minority. More generally four of any band is a bit over the top in a set to my ears. As a rule I would say two, tops, on any given night although having other songs by a band on rotation is fine.
8. Bought a TC Electronics rack effect unit from Dan. Easy peasy purchase.
9. I acquired this on a trade yesterday. Yum!
10. I got this yesterday on a trade. Yum!
11. I'll take a couple of heavy strings to restring my garage door opener. That's probably where he got them from.
12. Dear sweet Lord. Would someone please put this monstrosity out of its misery? £825?
13. At least he will post it with the utmost care. I wouldn't want it to get a ding in transit!
14. Thanks guys, lots of useful tips. I'm going to relieve Dood of his G major 2.
15. That is very interesting, Danny. Thank you. Unfortunately I am not an iPod/iPhone, etc. owner but that is an avenue that I was unaware of and exactly the sort of info I need.
16. Some advice, if you please. I am trying to find the definitive rack mount effects unit. I have, in the past, owned Boss GT6B and GT8B, which I would classify as okay. I have gone down the individual pedal route, which has given me excellent sounds but I am getting too old for lugging a dirty great board around. I bought an old Line 6 Bass XT Pro from someone here and I like it, but I prefer more modern sounds and the unit seems weighted in favour of classic/old fashioned sounds. I principally use fuzz, phaser, reverse delay, chorus, looper. So I have thinned my pedalboard down significantly through getting some good sounds from the Line 6 unit but it isn't quite THE unit for me. Can you suggest any modern top flight effects units? I have what to me is the definitive setup for the rest of my gigging time and need an effects unit to top it off. Suggestions please!
17. Thanks for the tip. My 18 year old Sennheiser headphones are getting rattle and I need to replace them.
18. Sold Pete a pedal. Nice guy, great to do business with.
19. It partially depends on the style of music you like. I get inspired by searching for things like this (100 songs every bassist should know) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDKDdVilQT4 as there are a mix of easy and hard bass lines.
20.
we use AMPband and I know a lot of others that do. But I don't know anyone who's put it to the test with a clam. Do any of you ?
I didn't know AMPBand provided cover for any sea creatures....
21. I'm in a band that I have very recently joined. I was struck when I met them that they were all so cheerful and enthusiastic. I turned out that they, despite being in the 40s-50s, are all late starters in the gigging business so haven't become cynical and bitter yet. Its a lovely change, although it might be that I'm the one with the issues but can't see it.....
22. Fishman Powerchord now sold. Sonuus Wahoo on hold. PAPA price drop from £150 to £100.
