1. David bought my Hohner bass of me. A very quick and simple transaction. Paid soon after he said he would buy it. Good communication. Thanks again! Froilan

    Light P-Bass
A Japanese Fender with basswood body. Much lighter in my experience. All my US Precisions come in between 9lbs and 9lbs 6.
+1. Really light.
  3.
If you're serious, I'd ask for advice on the dudepit. Only thing I know about them is that they aren't cheap ..
I got a quote from Fred Hammon, and I can stretch to the price including a quote for a routing job at The Gallery. I've heard numerous recordings on the Lakland site and www.basspickup.com, but I really want to try one out in person. I've been thinking about taking the plunge of this for a while... it is a big shame I missed the SE Bash Bash. I would have loved to try out obbm's Dark Star'd Lakland DD.
  4.
An example: we are about to release a product which is all passive and represents a combination of pickups and a 3 band passive EQ, with output about 3 times the volume of a P pickup.
I'm intrigued. How does a passive EQ work, or is it too early to ask about the product?
  5.
The band arent big really i should have asked them on the night but i forgot! www.myspace.com/zicochain www.zicochain.com If anybody wants to have a look!
They're on Kerrang and Scuzz quite frequently. The bassist has a seriously big sound! The music's quite good too.
  6. I'm seriously considering buying a dual set of Dark Stars for my bass, because I wouldn't mind a deeper, darker sound from my Jazz. Any opinions on that?
  7.
Thanks for the advice. Good of you to take the trouble. This seems like friendly place. I have sent him a direct email and as well as a PM. Mike
No problem mate.
  8.
Are you still looking for a bass player? I am in Reigate and would be happy to have a chat about it. Mike
Mike, it looks like this was the threadstarer's only post ever on BC so might never be back. Might be best to email him. Good luck.
  9. When I need that punchy sound to my Fender Jazz, I use the B channel of my EBS MicroBass II. It is naturally more aggressive than the A channel. Adding some low mids on my parametric EQ, and I'm set to go.
  10.
The bit I watched (couldn't be bothered with 9+ minutes, sorry) looked like a Marleaux!
I think you might be right... thanks!
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HAlWdPraQo My friend was just wondering what is the bass in the this video. Oh, and check out the band too. A Polish prog rock/metal band called Riverside... they're actually really quite good.
  12.
I went to see the Zico Chain monday night and i was stood right in front of Chris the bass player. I looked at all his gear as he came on to set it up but i couldnt work out what one of the pedals he was using was. It was a little orange thing, more of a circle than a square or rectangle(curvy), slightly smaller than his Boss overdrive next to it. The only other pedals he had was the boss overdrive and a Boss tuner aswell but was using an Ampeg SVT pro4 which he may of had a tube sound on giving him his dirty tone. It was hard to tell amongst the other overdrive which was always on but i think it was another overdrive or fuzz, possibly a filter but i couldnt be certain. Can anybody tell me from my terrible description what it was?!! Thanks Alex
Maybe a Fuzz Face? I've seen some pictures where the light makes it look orange. 13.
Ok, this is going on ebay. I can't believe that there are 3 fleabasses for sale here at the same time!
I know!
  14.
nash what is funny? the price?
I think he thought this was a Grabber. Hence the pun, "grab it while you can".
  15.
Hi I'm working up to sorting myself out with a small epifani cab (either a UL110 or 2x10). Any Epifani-heads have any suggestions where the best place is to buy this brand with the least mark-up? I will consider ordering from Europe. Incidentally I might pair it with a Little Mark head, although the best prices on that seem to be in the UK. Cheers Nick
There was this seller on eBay, but once I took into account p&p and custom charges, it wouldn't have been that much cheaper than buying it from the Bass Gallery. I got mine from them, and they seem to be a little flexible on the prices on their website www.thebassgallery.com. I believe they have exclusive dealership in UK. TBH, I couldn't find many dealers for Epifani. Not even the might Thomann have dealership. It seems to be heavily niched. I too am running a MarkBass LMII into UL110. Fantastic for the size and weight!

  20.
Well, the reason I was asking was because I was genuinely inquisitive. It's quite easy to come up with two totally opposing opinions, each of which is as valid as the other, without actually knowing the facts.
I perfectly agree
  21. Ouch... that's far too gorgeous for anyone's good!
  22.
Not wanting to start an argument [1] - that's one way of looking at it. Another way would be to say that the bass whammy is five years older than the BP-200, so possibly the electronics from the one-trick-pony pedal have been put into the multieffects. Five years is an awfully long time in electronics - how much would a 32" LCD telly cost five years ago, for example? [1] No, really. If I wanted to start an argument, I'd go to alt.guitar.bass and ask why people still play those crappy old Fender things when there's so much better stuff out there, and then walk away whistling.
I personally look at it this way. The normal Digitech Whammy 4 costs £127.09 on Thomann, so let's just assume the Bass Whammy costs the same (although there more features on the Bass version). The Digitech BP-200 costs just £94.43. Admittely I haven't tried the BP-200, but I find it hard to believe that the whammy on it would be comparable.
  23.
What does the Digitech Bass Whammy do that the whammy in the BP-200 doesn't?
Well, the BP-200 whammy is only one component in a relatively cheap multi-effects modeller. I would imagine the tone produced would be inferior to the Bass Whammy.
  24.
+1 for the microbass II
Yep... the mute switch on it was the final clincher for me when I was out buying a DI. I just only wished that it also muted the signal to the XLR output.
