1.
Oh a p-bass from my birth year......don't tempt me Si
Go on! You know you play her you'll wanna grow old with her... hehe. Thanks for the PMs guys. All responded. Also, thanks Jim and wateroftyne for the input.
2. Liking the flyer idea. I do tell every bassist I come across about this haven away from drummers, guitarists and that sort of riff-raff. But flyers and stickers would help further the cause no bounds.
3. This is a Fender Precision bass guitar with a black finish, black pickguard and a maple neck. An interesting bass. Has an S9 serial number but has an 1983 date stamped on the neck heel. Still retains that classic 70's look though, and looks absolutely stunning! It is not as heavy as other specimens I've played. I believe the pickups are vintage replacements because of the cloth wiring, but they sound awesome! I believe everything else is original. The bass is in general fantastic condition considering the age, especially the neck. There's a tiny hint of buckle rash but can only be seen in certain angles of the light. Not especially desperate to sell, and would much prefer a trade/part-exchange. Only thinking to get rid because my Fender Jazz's S-1 switching has the Precision tone pretty much covered, so this is just laying about doing nothing. Would be interested in (not exclusively) Laklands, Warwicks or anything you may have in mind Just try me! May be in interested in neo cabs too.
4. Mate... what year is this out of curiosity. The features make the year quite early.
5.
It wasn't so long back that I noted there were a glut of MM and Sterlings.
I also remember the glut of 70's Fender Precisions!
6. +1 for Stringsdirect. Consistently fast delivery and a good range.

Carol is the name of Kylie and Danni Minogue's mother according to Wikipedia. I pitched the idea to Chris and he liked it!
8. Not surprised this sold so quick at all! If I had a bass or two fewer, I would have jumped all over this.
9.
Ha ha, nice one, Carol it is, cheers Froilan. Can't wait to play her through the Trace head I bought from you (which I might add was every bit as good as you said it would be). Played it against my other Precisions last night. The power output was noticebly lower, which at first I was a little concerned about, but after a while I realised I can get some far more earthy/gravelly tones out of it than out of the more recent basses. Fair to say that Carol sounds pretty much how she looks. I wonder if Kylie's mum has a 60 a day habit. Wonder if she smokes as well Chris
Hey... glad to took up the suggestion. But slightly gutted I won't be seeing you tomorrow with her and my ol' Trace in action. As I said before, that amp was made for Precisions! Maybe I'll see you with them at the next bash.
10.
However, I suspect it's actually due to the new, more stable Basschat that we've attracted more people to sell their gear!
Amen! I always make a point of advertising this forum to bassists I meet. More users mean a healthier marketplace to trade in. Compared to eBay, sellers get a better deal and buyers get a safer and more friendlier transaction. Would be interesting to test out economic theory on trading down these parts.
11. I'm selling two tickets for Sat 18th August at cost price. Check it out. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4414
12. I need to sell these off because my friend decided to go to the Ediburgh Fringe Festival this week. He bought another pair for another date, so I need to let these go. Since I've noticed there's a few Prince fans down these parts, I'll let anyone have dibs on the pair. I'm looking for exactly what I paid for the pair £72.91 I'm prepared to deliver to any tube station in London within Zones 1 and 2. Otherwise, collection can be made in Battersea or Clapham Junction. Please text me, phone me or leave me a voicemail message on 07743 499 496.
13. Alright there Chris. Beautiful buy! According to Wikipedia, Kylie and Danni Minogue's mum is called Carol. Contender for the name?
14. After the debacle of me playing after drinking 6.5 pints of Guinness in quick succession, I now have a self-imposed 1 pint limit (stretched to 1.5 if I'm feeling extra special). Didn't reach the full 7 as the frontman took it away from me!
15. Anyone else a little bemused by the glut of Warwick Streamers on for sale? Not healthy for suppressing that bad bad GAS.
16.
You must be getting really bored of this now. Plan is to eBay it in September when the holidays are over.
Dropped a helpful hint to a bassist on another forum. I thought this would be gone by now. But I would recommend you sit tight and don't eBay it. eBay is generally awful for selling instruments.

Great stuff! Think I'll be bringing my Fender Jazz and Musicman Stingray, both with a rich BassChat pedigree. Also will bring down my EBS MicroBass II.
18.
I did have a subscription to BGM. It was a couple of months after my subscription ran out that I realised I wasn't getting it anymore. Obviously, they don't send out reminders or mine got lost in transit. Anyway, I took out a subscription to Bass Player and am happy with it. They also send timeous reminders.
I got an email reminder when my subcription ran out. Just came back home and looking forward to reading it at lunchtime tomorrow at work.
19.
Oh rite, how does the sound vary with ash as apposed to bubinga?
From the Warwick User's Manual: Acoustically, bubinga is a very resonant wood that offers very clear lows and well-defined upper mids and highs. Acoustically, Ash has wonderful mid-frequency response and a very warm low end. In my experience, I prefer Corvettes in ash, mainly because the Corvette body is quite large and bubinga is a really heavy wood.
20.
Unless you wanted something special/custom I would deffo go used. A used excellent Thumb BO4 went for £543 on the bay last week
Back in January, I saw a neck through go for £600. After just paying a lot more for mine, I wasn't too happy!
21.
I thought this would fly off my hands, it's such a lovely instrument.
I know... I would love this. But I've exhausted my entire GAS fund. But have a bump on me, for such a beautiful bass.
22. Actually mate... I wouldn't mind a print of that Ric picture. I thought it was fantastic. I'll PM you with more questions.
23. I'm glad to see that your keen eyes spotted that unfortunate association mate!
