1. Tell me about it! I'm a reformed GASoholic. This forum did not help one bit! I think the only way to cure GAS is to release it. I went out and bought the basses I wanted... and kept the ones I loved. My logic now is that I am very happy with my collection. If I were to want to spend money on another bass, I know I don't really need more basses and that the money would be better spent on private tuition, which I do.
 2.
Get Dunlop strap locks. I've had one of mine for nearly 20 years without a single problem.
+1. You need a pair of pilers to get the damn things off. They're going nowhere. I love them so much every bass gets the Dunlop straplock treatment.
 3.
You certainly can't knock his level of effort put in to photographing the bass, I've never seen better!
Wow... that's enough to get the GAS going in my guitarist friend sitting next to me!
 4.
And I´d probably be happy with any of the basses niceguyhomer has owned over the years.
Yes... Alan has very good tastes in basses as my ex-homer Fender Jazz will testify.
 5. Have a free bump for an amazing piece of kit. I've used it as a straight DI for live and studio work, headphone practise, and playing two instruments into their own channel into the same input. Has saved my life a few times. Well recommended, and you'll find a few more recommendees around these parts.
 6. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/?keyword=lak...nufacturer_id=0 But their customer service hasn't been as well documented as Thomann's from what I've seen.
 7. obbm's Dark Starred Lakland Duck Dunn warwickhunt's new Bolin Why? Because they are both stunning!
 8.
If a 5 is your bag look in the for sales, Owen's bass also has the piezo bridge and it is sweet! The locking tuners have been a bit of a revelation and soooo smooth, the Warwick's weren't slouches but these are a class above. Unfortunately the Bass Bashes are a bit far for me to trek (Northumberland) and if I remember correctly I'm gigging that night.
I just used that pic to show off the headstock... If I were to buy one, it would be a four. So lemme know if and when you're sick and tired of it. lol A shame you can't make the bash mate. Would have loved to have a quick nosey around it.
 9. Oh my! I love everything about how this bass looks... the singlecut, the top, the headstock. This is putting my oath not to buy any more basses this year under strain. The bass looks stunning. *I am happy with the basses I have* *I am happy with the basses I have* *I am happy with the basses I have* You bringing this to the Bass Bash I assume?
 10. Glad to hear you're still around! Last time I check you said on your site that you were stopping for a while. Now I'm off to indulge in some window GAS.

 13. Thanks for a little chuckle to begin my morning!
 14. This month's issue looks great! Just had a quick flick for now, just skimmed through the NAMM and Fender stuff.
 15. Just look at the case! Puts the cases sold with the old series to shame surely! Seller looks good though.
 16.
Just read some of a thread over on TB about cables can affect tone. I didn't read all of the thread because a bunch of egomaniacs trying to outdo each other by listing their various credentials is positively yawn inducing.
That's why I usually don't bother with TB unless I need to use it as a reference. On topic... I buy cables for sturdiness. I would assume those manufacturers which build sturdy cables don't let the tonal component suffer too much.
 17.
Ah yes, you hit the nail on the head... black ones are more versatile and sound good in virtually any musical genre
It's true. I love my Fender Jazz bass, and I would use it for this prog rock/electronica project I'm working with... but I'm finding the 3 tone sunburst making just too warm a tone. I'm thinking about getting it refinished in black. Hopefully like you said, it will become more versitile.
 18. I've had a number of lessons with Dave. He's not only a great musician, but a great teacher... not to mention like you said, he's such a laid back bloke. Also, he's able to provide musical examples to back up what he's teaching and can give you PDFs of exercises. Well recommended. If only I could find the time to go every week!
 19. I don't if this helps, but using BA to and from Austria I had to put it in hold. Even with my guitarist's guitar, they insisted we put it in the hold when flying back from Austria, even though we told them what we saw on the website. Just use a Hiscox case mate and it should be fine.
 20.
Thanks buddy, and good day to you.
You're welcome mate!

 22.
I admit without that bat logo i would have already made the decision to buy it as you could get away with no one knowing it's his sig bass. What6s the VM-pbass soory for my ignorance?
"Vintage-Modified" series... Here's a link.
