1. You could sell it and get a later version which doesn't have the problem. IIRC, Ashdown issued that statement after they had problems with active basses with 18V and higher. Don't quote me, but I think you should be fine if you just got the 9V. Email Ashdown and check.
  2.
Rhythm Stick, it really is a git at first.
It's still a git for me. I always work on it and get it almost right, but come back to it and I lose it. I've let my chops fall off by the wayside these past weeks. Hopefully this summer, this will be one line to get completely down.
  3.
Nice, it's a bit of a basschat sesh this time round! I have a bit in there aswell (Elliot Minor). There is a photo of me with my ATK and sterling, both bought off fellow basschatter's. ed
Ah... I bumped into a guy I knew from school said you chased him or something because of his hair. He said he was a big fan. Glad to see you're doing well for yourself!
  4.
Mastodon as the closest thing we can compare it to sound-wise.
How about "Saber Toothed Tiger!!!". God I miss Power Rangers. lol
  5.
Sorry, but I take exception to that:- as it pi55es me off to. I have tried on several occasions to advocate different methods to prevent someones 1st post being a sale post.... However this is a democratic site and the MAJORITY are ok with it..... not neccasarily the mods.
The Burpster, has anyone previously suggested the Directing to Introduction Forum idea that I've laid out? If not, then I would like to hear what the powers that may have to say about it. This issue has come up time and time again, and it is causing unnecessary friction. But people around here do have concerns, and I think anything to address them and make them feel less anxious about them, hopefully will make it less of an issue. Plus, anything that may increase active membership has to be a good thing anyway.
  6. Maneater by Nelly Furtado. "She's a maaaaaaan eeeeeeeeater, make you work more, make you spend more, make you want all of her love!" A favour for someone doing their final year performance at uni. Cool riff tho.
  7.
I think a good way to get new people to introduce themselves may be to have them directed to the Introduction Forums when they first sign in. I don't know if this is feasible. This is encourages them to feel included in the community when people reply back welcoming them.
The issue with people coming here to sell without introducing itself has come up over and over again. Though some people feel strongly about it, I myself do not mind keeping the status quo. However, I do think my idea also have the benefit of encouraging those sellers to become active members. We do get a lot of traffic from people looking to sell stuff, and I think there's nothing wrong with that. But by encouraging them to post an introduction thread when they first sign in, they may feel more welcome. This would be a win-win situation, quelling the fears of some members that some people are just here to sell, whilst helping to boost active membership. So mods... what say ye?
  8. Hilarious! Can't believe how well the guy got everything to sync up. They even resemble what they look like!
  9. I think a good way to get new people to introduce themselves may be to have them directed to the Introduction Forums when they first sign in. I don't know if this is feasible. This is encourages them to feel included in the community when people reply back welcoming them. Say a new person comes along, and their first post is selling an item. If someone was to tell them to introduce themselves first, in perhaps not too diplomatic a manner, it could make them feel unwelcome. I see that some people feel discontented that a few are here purely as dealers. But a lot of people were first introduced here by selling an item (me included). I feel it is important that new members feel the laid-back and community spirit here, the reason I'm here rather than TB and other forums. If when a new member first signs in, and it goes to the introduction forum, it feel it would help potential sellers feel part of the community, and encourage active membership... but not add a layer of restriction that I think dampens what we have here.
  10.
And Guitar strings can really get your fingers sore, its like cheese wire! And in a band context, everybody has their part to play and everyone is as equally important ( even if bassists are that little bit cooler than the rest, but shhhhh)
Amen... and amen!
  11.
I think he has a knob fixation.
I'm quite happy about my band arrangement. The only problem I had was the guitarist likes his guitar loud, and often then not his speak would be pointing right at me. Now I've got earplugs, and I've made the guitarist more savvy on speaker placement in a room. I guess things could be worse.
  12.
I think it was a google search when i was looking to sell something (shame shame!)
Me too... But I was looking for a nice bass forum anyway after being in Ultimate-Guitar for years and seeing the same old tired threads again and again, and being lost and overwhelmed at TB.
i know i will get that on ebay, but id like it to stay in the community as its a special bass
TBH, I think that BassManKev is entitled to advertise a higher price if he wants to. Market forces will dictate whether or not it will sell. Although I don't think it was wise to try to use the "stay in the community" line whilst doing so.
  14.
I have to admit you seem to be taking it a fair bit calmer than I would...
+1! Wondering if we're going to hear some kind of an excuse from madzombieguy.
  15. It was a long time coming! Looks good.

    Bargain!

£4! I've heard of some bargain prices before, but that's a new record in my books. Good find!
  17. lol... I had this really drunk American girl do something similar to me. It was slightly embarassing because my sister was there recording it! lol... Can't say I've had an incident involving my G string getting caught on a girl's bra though. Nice one!
  18.
And a fine drummer he is. Here he is is when he was a lad...
I know that song. Pretty cool... love that cowbell! The fog on the tyne is all mine all mine... the fog on the tyne is all mine! Was it on an advert or something. I can't place how I would have heard it.
  19.
Bass POD XTL has a superb tuner, very easy to use and mutes when in tuning mode.
Really? I always found tuners on PODS on anything but Pro series were slightly slow to register. Nothing too annoying though.
  20.
Read somwhere that this is the worst way to tune up because of something called the pythagorean comma. Which if i can remember is to do with the guitar never being in perfectly tune, and by using 5th and 7th harmonics is the worst way to tune up. if you google it you will get a better idea than i can give you.
http://www.answers.com/pythagorean+comma?cat=technology Interesting... The "twelve perfect fifths are not exactly equal to seven perfect octaves, and the Pythagorean comma is the amount of the discrepancy". However, I find 5th and 7th harmonics tuning the easiest way to do by ear. You reduce a lot of overtones, allowing me to discern differences in pitch easier. Also the pitch is higher, further making the process easier. I mean, you can even tune by feeling the bass until the oscillations disappear.
  21.
I know he's right because some rhythm parts have been dragging or plodding in a leaden way. At home I'm working with loops to correct this and get on beat but when I'm with the other chaps I tend to get drawn into guitar-esque parts and slip into the off-beat. Anyone got advice? We have had kick drum problems making it rather hard to hear but that sounds like a poor excuse...
I've had a similar problem for a while, and I think I've identified the problem. The length between my index and middle finger on my right hand is about 1.3cm. I don't have very large hands, so I believe the difference must be a lot. I don't play often with a pick, but I do notice I'm more consistently on time when recording with a pick than fingers. I really don't wanna have to play with a pick, because I worked really hard on my string crossing with fingers to a good standard and I really don't want to have to go through it again. Anyways, that's my excuse...
  22. This is the nicest Warwick LTD I've seen in a while. I actually hated last years Thumb LTD.
  23. Wow! You must be well chuffed how that came out. The bass tone sounded great... excellent example of a good P tone.
  24.
When I was in a band that was signed, we would make an effort ourselves to save money as we knew at the end of the day, it would bite us in the arse and cost us money. We had the chance to fly to Seatle and record our first album with the guy who produced Pearl Jam's first album. For a newly signed band, this was a very tempting and exciting prospect but in the end we said, its not needed, it would cost way to much and we ended up going to a studio in Wales where the Stereophonics record. No doubt saving us a ton of money. Just the thought of shipping us and our equipment over to the States for a few months was very scary. So, its easy for bands to take the piss but the record companies can and are just as bad but I guess you get it in all manner of industries.
Wow... that took serious level headedness to do that. Me, I would have probably said, "When's the next flight?". It would have been an awesome experience though.
  25. In the interest of fair reporting, I'm posting a reponse from Monster Cables CEO, Noel Lee in regards to reports of frivilous suits against name trademarks. http://www.audioholics.com/news/press-rele...-from-noel-lee/ Please note, the letter was sent directly through their legal department. Monster admit to "4 trademark oppositions a year". However, this letter does not deal with the cease and desist issue against Blue Jeans Cable and Mr. Denke. Audioholics reported "Design patents represent nothing more that that: design. There is no technological content within design patents. The net effect is that Monster cable suing Blue Jeans is like you suing someone who copied the custom paint job on your car."
