1. Some good suggestions (and pictures), I thank you all. Please continue. Does look like the Harvest and mcmach's suggestions are in pole place at the moment with Heistercamp being worth a call. The reason I want leather is the fact that it's different almost bespoke long lasting material and being natural no two pieces would be the same, so ideal as a special birthday present.
2. Hi mcnach, UK preferred but all suggestions taken on board.
3. Thanks to all so far for the suggestions. Thanks with putting me right on Harvest they are in the frame if a UK source does not work out. I'm based not far from Walsall which was known for it's Equine leather goods I'll see if there I anybody there that can help. Please keep up the suggestions. BR Alan
4. Hi All, I've got a very significant birthday this year and fancy leather gig bag for my ACG Skelf short scale bass. Thinking of Brexit and wanting to keep a British theme does anybody know of a UK manufacturer or leather worker that may be willing to make one? I have looked at Harvest from America and made that the benchmark for a UK made one - anybody able to help? Many thanks in advance. Alan

Nice one ead, worth the top rating on the BASS scale. My Skelf SS is fitted with the John East active/passive eq and you will find it has a wide range of tones. Ive found it an almost seamless transition sound wise if you switch between the two options while playing.
6. Welcome back MartinB. I hope your band is successful.
7. Let us know how it plays T-Bay it will be good to get Basschatters review.
8. I use a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 which has an 8" speaker. An excellent practice amp with the capability of being used as main rig with the addition of another 8 ohm cab.
9. I have a 5 string bolt on Legend and have had an 4 string NS94 both are excellent to play with very good build quality and the response to questions from Spector has always been good. On both the active electronics have given a pretty wide tonal range with the NS94 probably being the more 'modern' sounding of the two.
10. In agreement with the amp cab theory here. I currently use a Markass 250 Blackline with an Ashdown Mi10 to good effect. So, Grangur's suggestion of a Barefaced 1x10 and Markbass LM3 sounds like a good option.
11. I purchased the set from the site - Absolute bargain and great communication from Ken.
12. I recently purchased 3 of the Studiospares mike stands and have been impressed with the quality for the cost.
13. Have a look at ACG guitars of this very parish. Excellent luthier built basses and Alan has branched into 6 stringers as well - have a matching pair. www.acguitars.co.uk/
14. I am currently using the Markbass 250 Blackline with an Ashdown M10 cab and that works well. Also have a Gez Benz Shuttle 3.0 which is a good and a bit more 'modern' sounding. It also has a little more flexibility on frequency response settings.
15. I had something similar recently and narrowed it down to a loose Neutrik socket/plug connection. The socket is the dual type so used the jack section and the problem seems to have gone.
16. Scott's an excellent guy to deal with, bought one of the original SWB-1 basses from him last year.
17. Welcome to the forum.
18. I used a short Comfort Strapp with the 34" scale fender jazz I had (about 9lbs) but moved to short scale basses (around 7lbs) and now use padded levy straps. Still have the Comfort Strapp an would sell for a moderate cost if you are interested.
19. It was a Spector NS94 in black. Part ex'd it for a Fender Highway One Jazz as the band were playing more 50's and 60's stuff at the time and the Spector's sound was a touch to modern. The Spector played beautifully, still miss it.

I had an NS94 and also have a 5 string Classic bolt on. The NS94 was an incredible playin bass and it never felt like a 34" scale. Only sold it because of the modern tone and the band moved to 50's and 60's stuff. The customer service from the factory is also second to non.
21. Is this still available? BR Alan
22. Just bought Alain's Boss TU3 excellent transaction a great guy to deal with.
23. Ead, I'll take this off you if still available.
24. Not had the volume difference on my ACG version ( and the guitar was built in Scotland ).
25. Gigged a Blackline 250 through an Ashdown Mibass10 last night and it cut through the mix with remarkable ease and with room to spare (gain and master set at 12 o'clock - VLE/VPE off). The Scott Whitley SWB-1 I use is passive.
