2.
Vester was a US based brand & allegedly got shut down by Fender, who found the phonetics of the name a bit close for comfort. Ironically they're probably best-known for their lawsuit-baiting copies, such as this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-1980s-VESTER-St...emZ390071387611 Made in Korea, not Japan, by Saehan, better known as Shine. I think the Fender & Gibson copies have gone the way of brands like Fenix & can command some decent-ish money on the strength of the "lawsuit" nonsense. Probably a bit of that might rub off on this if you 'Bay it, I wouldn't think £200 would be too shabby. Shockwave - always had a soft spot for the Argus! I think the WRM lookalikes are actually copies of the Vester - at the same time those were about there was also a WRM-branded copy of a Tokai Talbo. In green-stained wood. Jon.
Why want to buy it?!
 3. Hey Sheildy, long time no speak! How did you know i was Shockwave? Currently i am in a band with Gareth from Amputated
 4. Honestly i dont know where this whole custom shop thing came when in connection with Vester. All they are are basses made in the far east in the 80's/90's that are badged to whatever the buyer specifies. I have a Vester Argus, it is the exact same shape and quality as a W.R.M. (IE reasonable quality). Someone a long time ago claimed that vester was a "custom shop" because of the truss rod cover, Where in fact it's just a decal they put on basses that come from the far east. Anyone like Vester or W/R/M or swift can order basses from the far east, specify what they want on the headstock and call themselves a "manufacturer" Either way, given the condition of the bass i would say 200 max.
 5. Hmm i have a number of nice pointy guitars?
 6.
Cuh, that guy again, he pulls listings if they don't make the bid he's after. And scores everything that comes up in Crack converters etc.
Well this one was Steves at electric ladyland. It looks really really nice in the flesh, HOWEVER, there is a kink in the neck that just cannot be fixed, Steve pratted around with the truss rod a hell of alot and still didnt really play very nicely. The pickups seemed a little unbalanced and the action was pretty high at the dusty end. I would AVOID.
 7. Hey guys. I did it again and pulled the trigger on something i have wanted to try out, but reasonably sure i wont keep! 9.
How about a RG7620 with Dimarzios?
I'd do a deal for your spector ;-)
 10. I was surprised at the good service i received at Reverb Bristol when buying a few things. Within a month at seperate dates i bought an Ashdown Little Giant 1000, Jackson WRMG, Jackson RR5. They were very polite, and bought everything i tried. The bass section guy is a very talented and approachable sort. Some of the guitar section guys are alright apart from this one american guy who seems to believe if its not metal, its not good or something to that effect. He just acts like a bit of a dick.
 11. Wouldnt mind this back Dont suppose you play thin stringed guitars eh Shaggy?
 12. A bit hardcore but A Wilhem Scream.
 13. He came all the way to bristol to buy my Hamer, Great guy, really need to talk some more somepoint, though probably bored yah stiff! Cheers mate Rob.
 14.
Would you be interested in an Ibanez RG570EX at all?
Not particularly, thanks all the same Rob.

 16.
I'm not able to play back your sound file. I keep getting an error message that says "The input media format is invalid". What format is the file?
Just your standard MP3 format
 17.
My Zon Legacy Fretless with Bartolinis has a ridiculous amount of top end, to the extent I keep the treble rolled off as much as possible (and I like a toppy sound) - maybe it's your preamp rather than the pickups that's the culprit? You'll probably get more attack from a fretted bass - I play heavyish stuff on my fretless but it definately has less initial attack to the notes than my fretted bass.
I am sure its the Bartolini Pre-amp more then the pickups. I see a number of heavy bands getting away with a fretless and it sounding great, under the condition the music is mixed to accomodate it.
 18. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=39d2cb8...04e75f6e8ebb871 Hey guys. Heres a recording of a song at practice a week ago. To demonstrate that a fretless can work in a metal band to some extent! I still believe the Bartolinis are working against me as its still not as cutting as i would like it to be, But plenty of bottom end. I feel that when i play very very fast the notes get lost easily. During the second part of the chorus (The bit with vocals) I am playing along to the double kick drums, just doesant seem to be cutting through there. This was recorded using a single condenser mic, sounds pretty decent considering a bit of clipping near the slow middle parts. Ignore the vocals as the practice room is far too loud to hear any. You may note a Dave Ellefson influence near the end The intro is a tad muffled, so ignore that too. Equipment used. Pedulla Pentabuzz 5 string fretless, Fingers, Ashdown Little giant 1000, Turned halfway up, Peavey Black Widow 1x15 and 4x10. What do you guys reckon? Would the material lend itself more to a fretted bass? We start recording in the next few weeks and i am unsure how it will turn out in a professional recording. Rob.
 19. How much does he charge for one of these monsters?
 20.
Hi, Will offer you £60 for this partly because ill have to travel over the severn brdge to pick it and as there are similar ashdowns going for the same price as your asking on here.... think its a fair offer. If your interested give us a shout and ill pop the money over. Cheers Sean.
Sorry mate, its not my fault you live over the water! People can charge whatever they like for their Ashdowns. If you want a Dark sound by all means go for them!
 21. Pmed regarding price.
 22.
Could be yeah, the sound is lovely and rounded if that even means anything. I'm never going to get some massive cabs as far as I know, just starting out and want to play along with the guys and gals I really like.
You dont need to emulate anyones tone to play along with other people?
