5.
oh I do love that Hudson. Never heard of them before that bass, where did you get it?
i originally bought it from Cranes in wales. They commisioned them from the factory and decided to have their own brand name called "Hudson". They took the Curbow body shape and instead of being made out of luthite, decided to make them out of a maple mahagony neck thru with a 2 and a half CM Spalt maple top. PB stands for project bass. Rob. P bass pics.
6. Up for sale is a lovely Epiphone SG:) All original hardware with only one ding to speak of. Otherwise in fantastic condition and probably my fave guitar to play right now. It has upgraded Grover tuners, Currently strung up with light strings. Pics below. £ offers please, priority will be given to buyers who will pick up from bristol Cheers! Rob.
7. Hey guys. I have a Jackson RR5 Made in Japan V2 style guitar. Its in Ivory and Gold and practically mint. The Seymour duncans were terrible so i replaced them with a set of Zakk Wylde Emgs. (With some damn good soldering work too) Its a lovely guitar to play. Looks awesome too! I got it brand new and is still in brand new condition! I paid £670 for it at Reverb. Its still in brand new condition, and fitted with far better pickups, currently has some 56/16 gauge strings on her. I can put lighter ones on if you want. I would much prefer this to be picked up at my house in Bristol. Rob.
8. I do this with a heavy heart, i have to pour money into my fretless Pedulla. See thread here for details. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50360 I Just recieved the P-bass in the post, Its got a lovely Growly tone, I mean seriously its lovely! I have dropped the action on it, put new strings on it. Gave it a proper setup. The best growly fingerstyle tone you will ever likely to get in a bass for this price bracket! Some small pics can be found in this thread. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=forcemaster Has Seymour Duncan pups and active Electronics. Has a couple of dings but nothing too bad. Comes with a Ritter Hardcase and the original Fender Noiseless pups. A quick review of the bass i wrote the other day. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50361 Also for sale is a lovely Hudson PB-6, Just recieved this also, its the second time i have owned this amazing bass. Its a lovely Spalt Topped Mahagony/maple bass. 6 String, ebony fretboard. Decent 3 range Pre-amp. It has some wear where my thumb has been resting on the bass, but thats the only damage. Anyway. I am asking the same that i paid for them. £260 for the Fender, £250 for the Hudson. No offers at the moment. I would much prefer the Basses be picked up from Bristol and priority will go to people who can do this. I really dont want to let these go. I may have to start going through the guitar collection soon as well :S hmm. Rob.
9. Bump Well i took her to practice tonight with my full rig, I cant stand the sound, its dark, not my sorta thing at all. I took a video of it to prove it as i watched it tonight. However it also made me feel great to have such a great looking and playing bass. I have decided to keep it, and modify it, it might rub some people up the wrong way to potentially ruin an instrument of such expense in this way. But i love the construction so much, i must keep it. But must be modified for purpose. I think i am in love with it sufficiently to keep it after modifiying it to my specs. Now i just have to wait a number of months until i can afford the pre-amp and pickup upgrades! Its also interesting to note, when i have decided to sell an instrument, i never back out, i make the decision and thats final, this is the first time i backed out of selling. I am likely looking at a 3 band Pre-amp (Stack knob so no routing out) First to see if it just needs a pre-amp change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlVET2DXNMM For those who are interested, heres the "Bad" video. At the end of the night, everyones sweaty as hell due to no air conditioning or open windows allowed in close confinement. I think all three of our voices are ragged too. Sounds like one of the guitars are out of tune as well (Note the farkin fast bits of playing at around about 1:00.
10. I am also interested trades?
11.
no I think it was a BMS on full blast.... ok it's because it's an ashdown! They're the skoda of the bass playing world
Actually i am really happy with mine, its a lovely little amp Been using it for Death metal and its plenty loud enough (As long as theres two cabs) Pretty huge sounding actually. My band laughed when i took it out of the gigbag front pocket. But jaws dropped when they heard it through 2 1x15's!
12.
If you want the musicman tone and Pedulla style you're far better off getting someone to build you something to that spec than speculatively modding your current bass Rob. SR5's are to my mind the least elegant looking of the Fender/MM/G&L styles basses (with the exception of some horrors Fender produced in the 80's), so I see your point, but my old black/black/rosewood was to my mind the rare exception so you might find a decent looking one if you lok around?
The offer i have been given is for a 20th anniversary one. I cant really give many details on that one though
13.
Keep the pickups & change the preamp?
If i decide to keep the Pedulla, then thats the first thing i am doing.
Have you tried having a word with Andy at Wizard Pickups?
Already been in extensive Email contact with him, He is not able to make pickups to that small of size that have the sound i want.
-1 to routing for new pickups. When doing something that is irreversible to a bass you really really need to KNOW that it's what you want, and, from the number of basses you have bought and sold in the last few months alone, it doesn't look like you really know what you want in terms of a bass (I apologise for the severe bluntness of this statement). If you KNOW that a musicman sound is what you want, then switch to a musicman, end of. You can then re-evaluate your sound and evolve it onwards from there. Mark
Yup I am still pretty much undecided, i will tell you that last night, i was all for rerouting the Pedulla. Now i am not so sure! I have make sure its "My" bass before doing something like that.
14. Hey guys. I had recieved Forcemasters ex Fender MIM Precision special in the post yesterday. I had to drop the action alot, get a new set of imperial measures Allen keys, get a new set of Ultraslim rob weakman strings on it. BOY WHAT A BASS. Its amazing what a cheaper bass can do against some of the big boys. I know the phrase is overused, but damn what a nice bass! The neck feels awesome, sort of a jazz bass style neck. The action is very low and the neck is fast to play on. The bass came with SD Quarter Pounders P and J pups. They sound very very meaty. The P-J together have a great mix of polite/grindy (Depending on how hard you play) When i roll off the Jazz pup, its all P bass baby! Such a great tone and i was suprised considering it was the stock Fender electronics to boot! The sound is very Dave Ellefson (Peace Sells) Even with my hamfisted fingerstyle play I heartily endorse these basses. Fantastic! (Now if it only had 5 strings and a maple board) When i eventually sell it on (I mean cmon it is me! I dont keep hold onto anything ) Someone will get an awesome bass! For reference, heres what mine looks like
15. Bought a Fender MIM precision Special from Forcemaster. Man o man what a motown style action it came with! I dropped that action quicksharp, got myself some imperial truss rod keys and man it plays a bueat! Great sound and a great price, with quick shipping to boot! Cant rate higher! A++++++++
16. Hey guys and gals. I have a fretless decision i must make soon. Recently i have been trying to sell my lovely Pedulla Pentabuzz 5 string. The main reason i am selling is because of the Bartolinis, They are too dark for my tastes, not hot enough. I play the fretless in a death metal/doomy style of music. This needs a cutting tone (As much as you can get on a fretless) Now most people would say "No problem, change the pups" In which case i cant. They are a very small non standard pickup size. I have asked various custom pickup guys and they cant do anything with the current pup rout as it is far too small to work with, for the sound i want. So i have a number of options. Sell a bass that i love playability and lookswise. Get something that DOES have the right sound (IE a 5 string musicman fretless) However the Musicman doesant look as flash and might not play as well (I wont be able to test drive it). Or Take a Punt and potentially ruin the resalability of the Pedulla and get bass routed out for Musicman Style pups (and take a chunk out of the lovely maple body) and change the pre-amp. I really am not sure what to do here. I dont want to do the wrong thing! What would you do? Do you think routing out the Pedulla for MM style pups will ruin the resale value? Would you see it as a bonus? Rob. Edit: For reference. Also there is another factor, If i want to change the pedulla, i will be out of a fretless for a month whilst its getting sorted, theres a small chance of luthier misfire and could ruin the bass. Also i wont have the money to sort it out for a few months. However if i decide to go for the Musicman i will actually gain money (As its a part ex deal)
17. So how many pots does this have? I need one with B/M/T and V
18. That is the real deal right there! Nowt much better then a proper Curbow bass
19. Final Bump! Had a couple of good offers, just one last bump just to see if anyone wants to add to the pot before i decide
20. Thats a hellofalot of bass for the money!
21. I used to own one of these. very nice construction, Gibson Wooly sound but with far less neckdive. I think they are gorgeous especially in this colour. I paid about 450 for mine, so if you get it for the starting bid your on to a winner! Plus i will know where to find one when i have the money! (in the event that someone from here buys it and doesant like it) Cheers
22. Winging its way to Bristle It might not be quite i was looking for (The 5string, Maple FB, American, Deluxe model) But its a start
