Well i have sorted out the wiring with the correct Seymour duncan wiring. However. I have another problem. So i sent Jackson an E-mail.
Hello. My names Rob i am from the UK, I recently started playing guitar again. I bought a Jackson Warrior WRMG, which i was very happy with. So happy, i decided to buy Jackson again. I picked up a Jackson RR5 from Reverb/Sound Control Bristol UK. I got it home and realised that there was a huge wiring problem. When i have both volumes up and switch on the bridge position, the neck pickup is still on, but at half volume. If i turn the neck volume right down, it sounds better, but still sounds as if the bridge pickup hasent got alot of bite. Anyway, I did a little investigating and realised that this was a common problem. The tone pot appears to be wired as if the bridge volume. And the neck pickup has been wired to the bridge pot. Not only that, the tone capictor is on the wrong prong and the Switch/Pickup prongs on each volume is on the wrong way. Which causes the above problems. Here is a homemade rough diagram of what it was like. http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/815/wiringrr5.jpg And a diagram that is correct. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...tic=2h_2v_1t_3w Why is there such a large discrepency between the recommended SD pickup wiring diagram and the Jacksons (Which although makes a sound, does not sound great?) Luckily i am a little handy with the soldering iron so i managed to sort the wiring out and now both pickups work as they should, However i still felt that the bridge pickup sounded muddy. Looked at the pickups, and for some reason i had a SD TB-4 in the bridge position. Which whilst it is a bridge pickup, they are built for wider spacing that a tremelo equipped guitar would have use for. This being a fixed bridge i was baffled, and also explains why there is a real muffled tone from the pickup. Why is there not a SH4 in the Bridge as well as the neck? I cannot use the TB-4 in anyway in the bridge position or the neck position. It is far too muffled. Honestly for a 1400 dollar (£900+over here) Japanese built guitar, i was very dissapointed. The warrior was wired far better and i have had zero problems with the EMGs. Is there anything you can do to help me? Cheers. Rob.
Waiting to hear back from them

Ok from what i can tell is this. The wires on both volume pots coming from the switch and pickup have been switched the wrong way around. The capacitor on the tone pot is on the left prong, where it should be on the middle prong. And the jack socket wire on the tone control is on the middle prong, not on the left. Basically it appears the tone pot has been wired to be a volume pot. does that sound about right?
The diagrams may be drawn a little different but they all represent the same circuit. Doesn't look like anything wrong with your wiring. Are these SD pickups, 4-conductor? have you got the red and whites soldered together and taped up out of the way? 1/2 vol neck could be some inadvertant coil tap with a leakage to earth somewhere.
They are SD pups, The red and whites are taped together and sheilded, there is no leakage to earth.
the wiring diagram looks ok, are you sure there aren't any loose ground connections anywhere?
There are no grounding issues or loose connections. I have looked at other diagrams and they all seem different to this. Hey guys. Bought a new Jackson RR5, Lovely to play guitar (Note not bass). However i have a problem with the wiring. It is V/V/T With a three position switch. When i have both volumes up and switch on the bridge position, the neck pickup is still on, but at half volume. If i turn the neck volume right down, it sounds better, but still sounds as if the bridge pickup hasent got alot of bite. I have drawn a diagram of the current wiring state. Any ideas? I dont know a huge amount about wiring, But if someone can draw me a correct diagram or edit the current one then brilliant Also one of the wires coming from both pups include the green and the bare wire. Rob.

Bugger. Trade pulled out at the last minute. Back up for sale 300 quid, Or part ex for a 4/8ohm 2x10/4x10. Or fully trade for a decent death metal style amp head. (If the head is worth more i will put cash towards it as well) Or trade for a nice 4/5 string jazz or musicman style bass, again i will glady put money towards it if the bass is worth more. -

Hey guys. Having a bit of a quandry at the moment and i need to free up some spare cash due to certain Uni problems. I need to pay for hard disk recovery of a drive that has borked circuitry and spindle, which has my final major coursework on and as the Roland is not selling i have to sell the bass that i dont play in my band, Which is this one. Its a gorgeous Burl maple top with Walnut/Walnut sandwhich. Quite the peice of furniture. In practically mint condition. Black Hardware. status 301 pre-amp and hyperactive pups. Included is all the paperwork and the status/hiscox liteflite case. Its has a seriously low action. I am not 100 percent on selling it, but i would want cash or I am looking for a part exchange on a nice 70's reissue jazz bass, preferably the mexican ones with the block inlays and rosewood board. I may consider musicman 4/5string basses as well. Pickup is as usual in Bristol. I will not post. Cheers. Rob

Singing and Playing..Do you find this hard/easy???
Shockwave replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
for some reason, i find it really easy to sing and play the guitar at the same time, but tough to sing and play the bass. go figure.
Generally i find that bass lines do not follow the vocals lines at all in many cases. Your playing a longer instrument that requires more muscle to play. If you play with fingers its even worse, Its like your playing with 3 plectrums ie fingers. As for me, I can perform growl vocals pretty well whilst playing, but couldnt do cleans unless I was playing very simple lines. -
Hey Juan Will you be doing this anytime soon again? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOW_-OESnq0 [s]Do you still have that Jazz bass by the way?[/s] (oops sorry checked your wiki, you sold it on ebay for charity never mind!) I could tell there was a good tone there even though the recording wasent great. Care to give me any insight as to what you were using in those early days? Cheers mate! Rob.
