1. I likes Magma i do's. In the album Atthak what bass/equipment did the bass player Guy Delacroix use? I really love his tone. That is all
 2. Bump Now looking for trades for Jazzes and possibly 6 strings.

Very good condition with hard case. £725.
Would you be interested in any trades? Whereabouts are you based? Cheers. Rob.
 4.
Ben, It's always good when a supplier who has been criticised takes the trouble to come here and post in a reasonable and constructive fashion, but it also tends to draw a response. I'll remain reasonable, too, but constructive will probably be beyond me. On Simone's recommendation I decided to give your shop a try for selling my 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 Fretless. I brought it into your shop on Saturday afternoon. The salesman hummed and hawed, tried to persuade me it was a '75 before I stone-walled him into looking it up (which took nearly 30 seconds) and he had to agree it was a 1974, then explained how the '74 models were much less sought after than the '73. After five minutes of this nonsense he put a price on it - £1695. You have a 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 (JetGlo) in similar condition in the corner at the moment. The price tag says £1995. Hmm. Apparently ultra-rare fretless Ric's are worth 15% less than standard basses at V&R. I asked him how much of the £1695 would find its way back to me. He told me I would get about £1000. I mentioned to him what I do for a living (Finance Director) and then asked him to explain where the £695 had gone. Well, there's the VAT of course. On a £1695 sale that's just over £200. The other £500 odd? Ah well, there's the cash he's going to tie up in a slow-moving item. What cash? This is a consignment deal. Ah, he said, I'd forgotten that. The libel laws being what they are, I'll refrain from telling you what I thought of your salesman and his ludicrous patter. I simply picked up the Ric and strolled across the road to Wunjo's. They also valued the bass at £1695 (no input from me about V&R, I should add) despite being known as a significantly cheaper shop than you. They take 20% of the sale value. If the bass sells at £1695 then I'll get £1350. I have every expectation that the bass will actually sell at nearer £1500 and I'll end up with £1200. If you'd like to see my bass, it's the one in the window. Brian's a nice guy. I'm sure he'll let you play with it. Have a good recession.
Ben works at the bath V&R. I have my own bad experiences at both V&R's when it comes to valueing equipment. Such as trying to fob off non original Basses/guitars as original. A certain freind of mine bought a Semi electric from the London store, which said it was an original (I think it was some sort of gretsch) It was a very nice playing instrument. Took it to a freind of mine who runs a vintage guitar shop who proved that it was actually a very well made reissue of the said guitar. The guy took the guitar back to V&R they essentially stone walled him and refused to take it back. This wasent some piddly 1-2K either. Rob.

 8.
MB1. Blimey!...and the Price? BUMP!
Considering the trouble i had getting the bass to Bristol and new sets of strings i am asking £670 Picked up. No haggling
 9. Hey guys. Decided i cant get on with the 35inch scale length. 34inches is enough for any man (or woman!) It sickens me that i have to sell a bass for such a terrible reason, but my pansy fingers just dont get on with it! So as stated she has a 35inch scale length, Bolt on all Graphite neck, Gold hardware, Quilt top trans red colour. Very classy to look at. The graphite neck has no wear at all. In fact the only wear on the bass is some buckle rash on the back. There is absoloutely nothing wrong about the bass. Its a fine peice of solid construction and plays brilliantly with a hella low action. It comes with the original Status/Hiscox hardcase. It has a pair of powerful Status Hyperactive pups which absoloutely sing and growl. Complimented by a simple Pre-amp/active circuit. This was probably one of the last S1's to be made before being discontinued. I honestly prefer this shape to the S2 i have. I would rather not post this bass, Pickup is as always in Bristol. Tradewise i am looking for 34inch scale 5 String Status's Possibly one like this. Preferably fretless but doesant have to be. I will consider basses other then Status's as long as they are fretless 5's. Any questions please PM me. Rob. PS, this will be fitted with either Brand new Status Hotwire 45-125 strings or brand new Status Hotwire 30-110's. Buyers choice.
 10. Well. I got the strings, put them on... annd i cant get on with the scale length, I am too engrained in the 34inch way of doing things. So i will be moving this on. Its a real shame as its a really really nicely constructed bass. Really deep sound.
 11. Well, i got the strings through, looks like i am going to move the S1 on. I just cant get on with the scale length. Ah well, its such a well constructed bass it seems a shame.

 14.
Nice collection Rob, but what happened to the Yamaha BB bass you got from Greenking/Peter?
That went to a fellow BC member in sheepcountry. Was a lovely bass to play and such, But didnt get on with the sound. P-J doesant seem to work.
nice collection! Is the Sheehan staying the course?
I have a BCer oohing and ahhing it at the moment, so i am unsure if i will be keeping her, Its a very unique bass, and i do like to play it, But i am right off 4 strings at the moment. I'll sure as hell miss it when its gone though! Rob.
 15.
Thanks Rob: the FL is truly exceptional (although the fretted is quite something too!) - it's the newer of the two (although I got it before the fretted) and is a great 'concept ' fretless, with the triple Bart's and EQ/p-up switching. Actually, I did PM you (March 9th & 10th) about this one when you first placed your 'Wanted FL5' post .. but possibly lost in the ether...
Ahh i forgot about that, I didnt have the sorta money that was being asked for unfortunately Even more so now!
 16. Oh that fretless is lovely! Just what i am looking for as well! Unfortunately no moolah!
 17.
Thanks mate! That was bloody quick...
No probs! Off to work in a mo though. The pictures highlight the incredibly low action on the thing
 18. As requested by another member, heres some shots of the neck.
 19. Since then, i have been through lord knows how many basses Had three Musicmans at one point!
 20.
Very nice mate, where did the S1 come from? The Roland combo looks great too. ped
Malden somethingorother in Surrey
 21. Someone kill me now! Gorgeous bit of furniture there.
 22. Well there yah have it Rob.
 23. Hey guys. Nice day out i am sure some of you have seen, so heres some updated pics Pictured Status S2 5 string headless, graphite neck, Lovely to play! Status S1 in red, Headed, Graphite neck, not sure about this one until i get some lighter strings. Not sure if i will get used to the 35" scale. But heres hoping! Yamaha Attitude LTD II, One of the best four strings i have ever played. Famously for sale recently. Lovely instrument Ibanez Gary Willis fretless. My main gigging/practicing bass. It's all i need til i have the money to get a nice Status Fretless 5. I may be looking into replacing the electronics at somepoint. Great fretless! Also pictured is my lovely Roland DB-900. Its a fantastic 7 speaker combo. Considering keeping it now Continued.
 24.
LOL! I know what you mean, Rob - My 35" TRB-6 II is strung with 30-40-60-80-100-125 & it's still a little high on tension. I prefer the 30 as a g-string personally - My usual 5-string sets for the Status basses are 30-50-70-90-115 Hotwires. It'll be very interesting to see how you get on with the S1-Classic.
Ahh, i play with 30-50-70-90-110. Its a pity they dont do a standard 110 set, cause i now have to pay custom string set prices to get the 110 instead of 115! Any rate. I'll see how it goes. Hopefully the strings are in my letterbox now... Just have to go down there, effort!
