1. Ok, well i have recieved the S1, i will reserve judgement until i get my weak mans strings on it. (tommorow hopefully) As the standard set of 125-45 and the 35 inch scale is like playing a telegraph pole. Looks niiiice though
2. Just a bump to say i am not looking for offers let alone Lowballs, not naming any names but i find it a little insulting to be offered 500-540 for the bass. 700 FIRM. More if shipped. I have now opened the door for 5 string trades. Preferably Fretless, preferably Status.
3.
Great respect to Rich's wisdom here, yet I was thinking there might well be quite a difference in sounds, given the string tensions, Eqs, circuitry, woods and builds, do you think? Still that Statusesqueness(er, that's a word; I looked it up... ) but the Status palette can still be a wide one, so to speak. By 'eck, you're on a roll here Rob: wot economic downturn?! Top man.
When i like something, I go for it wholeheatedly! I just hope i can get on with the scale length, otherwise i'll have to trade it for a 5 string fretless (Which is what i should have really bought with the money but GAS got the better of me!
4. Well, i got the new strings for the S2, (30-110 custom gauge) from status and i must say I LOVE the slap tone on my S2, So much so that i have just bought another Status bass! How much of a sound difference does a headed 35inch scale has versus a 34inch scale S2 headless? Did i get the S1 for a good price? i dont really know how much they go for. Rob.
5. When hackett was in the band, Rutherford played Rhythm guitar and bass on a double neck. When Hackett left, they replaced him with a touring (non writing) guitarist called Daryll Stuerner, with the later material Daryll and Rutherford started to switch instruments. "Can you tell me where my country lies? Said the uniform for his true loves eyes...."
6. I would take this, but my flat hasent got a door wide enough, damn Bristol flats! Rob.
7. Thats it, someone better buy my Yamaha Attitude, I was going to go for a Aqua one of these. But the deal fell through, hence why i was selling the Billy Sheehan in the first place! Someone ENABLE me to buy this
8. Fretless? oohh, pmed
9. I would gladly take them in, But i am in Bristol with no transport.
10. So i just received my first Status, Which has put in an appearence on here before. It was originally ordered by Zigmondo 4 years ago, Eddie (fullrangebass) bought it in November, then sold it to me recieved it last night. Fingerstyle, i am very happy with it, got a nice tone when digging in, which is my ideal non musicman fingerstyle tone. IE less growly, more piano like. I am a tad unhappy with its slap tone, which is a bit dull. It's probably down to the strings not being new or bright enough, so i just ordered a custom set from Status and hopefully my slap dreams will be realised! On the other hand, the bass plays like a dream, probably wont be my last status My ugly unshaven mug and equally ugly jumper. Rob.
11.
Which ones Gordon then?
Thats Nic' and Squeek This is Gordon. Lucky bugger has had two females put into his tank recently.
12.
No gecko on the fretboard????
Shame isent it? I could buy this and trace on one of mine
13. Hey guys. I have a lovely Roland DB-900 here for sale/trade. It has been gigged but is in good condition. It has lost one of the nuts for the hi-lo inputs but both inputs work fine. There are no problems at all with the amp. The lowdown is: 7 YES THATS SEVEN, speakers built into ONE combo. 4x10, 2x12 and a tweeter. The amp is fantastic for DUB/ROCK/FUNK music. This thing has loads of low end grunt. It looks awesome, sounds awesome and is awesomely heavy! However its essentially like having a full stack in one large combo. It also has wheels! Its not an modelling amp in the truest sense but it does have a Solidstate/Tube/Tube drive knob, Gain, volume, compression, Shape, Bass, mid volume, mid frequency, treble, D-Chorus and master volume controls! It has 2 programmable preset buttons to remember your fave settings as well! (very easy to use btw) It has a headphone port, 2 footswitch ports, one for your onboard chorus and one for your programmed settings, a Balanced line out and DI out, a effects loop and a balanced DI. I am telling you this thing is feature packed. These amps sell for over a grand brand new. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=1499 Up for sale 300 quid, Or part ex for a 4/8ohm 2x10/4x10. Or fully trade for a decent death metal style amp head. (If the head is worth more i will put cash towards it as well) Or trade for a nice 4/5 string jazz or musicman style bass, again i will glady put money towards it if the bass is worth more. Cheers. Rob. PS i have no transport, so any trades would have to be done at my place in Bristol sorry
14. Bought Eddies Status S2 Today, Interesting method of postage IE personal courier that worked out GREAT. Eddie has great comms and brilliant aftersales service (IE thinks nothing of running up phonebills calling international) Thanks very much mate! Rob.
15. Pmed. Also, Green is the best
16. Pmed
17. Damn, thats totally me, But its not a 5 string Hows the balance on it?
18. Bass now sold to bassofdeath. Cheers adam! Rob.
19.
Does it come with the ability to do this:
You can do the neck bendy thing on mine, unlike on the LTD1 which would crack the neck pocket in half. Other then that i could go through the motions of playing it like that... With the volume turned to 0.
20. Although i didnt buy or sell anything to/from Jo, he just gave me some great help and advice over the phone. and this is my +1 for it. Cheers mate. Rob.
21. Tetsu is an awesome bassist, and L'arc en ciel is an awesome band Best to go on ishibishi or US ebay, a few weeks ago they had some tetsu models in Japan. Mind you, He has many many sig models.
22. I love em both. I have seen Sting with his solo backing band and to be honest, they play the police material better then the police ever could live. I think Sting is a very inventive bass player, If his playing was any different/technical, i doubt they would have gotten the commercial recognition they recieved, the police songs as they are, are perfect and i wouldnt want them to change. He is one of my all time idols. Copeland is a very good drummer, summers can take a hike, his live playing and tone recently has been awful.
