Honestly i dont know where this whole custom shop thing came when in connection with Vester. All they are are basses made in the far east in the 80's/90's that are badged to whatever the buyer specifies. I have a Vester Argus, it is the exact same shape and quality as a W.R.M. (IE reasonable quality).

Someone a long time ago claimed that vester was a "custom shop" because of the truss rod cover, Where in fact it's just a decal they put on basses that come from the far east. Anyone like Vester or W/R/M or swift can order basses from the far east, specify what they want on the headstock and call themselves a "manufacturer"

Either way, given the condition of the bass i would say 200 max.

ok cool, thanks for the info.its actually in really good condition.its filthy at the moment and i just took a few pictures as i was cleaning it.thats why the fretboard looks so weird.

the other marks are sticky residue from some kind of sticky tape.lol.

a little tarnishing on the gotoh hardware.lovely translucent green finish.

i'll post up some more pics when its all clean and tidy.

any info on the body and neck woods.i seem to remember bubinga being mentioned when i bought it in the mid 90's.
had this back back after a long term loan....about ten years!!!!!

don't think im gonna use it much.so was just looking for a value from you guys.
Thats exactly the same as mine 'cept I put EMGs in mine....

The 'Custom' as far as my research went is only an indication of the colour and poly finish. The non-custom variants were all plain wood (looked fine though).

Its not a bad bass as all IMO, I played mine at hundreds of gigs, and dozens of recordings and it never let me down. Certainly the EMGs take it to a really different level. Mine is worn out, needs new frets at the very least :)

Comes stock with gotoh tuneres, an exceptional bridge (direct rip off of a Spectre bridge, massive hunk of gold plated brass) and so so active electronics (not awful but not great by any means).

These originally went for £499 way back in about '94 I think there has been one on ebay for £299 for yonks, so the £200 is about right for a fairly rapid sale....

Vester was a US based brand & allegedly got shut down by Fender, who found the phonetics of the name a bit close for comfort. Ironically they're probably best-known for their lawsuit-baiting copies, such as this:

Made in Korea, not Japan, by Saehan, better known as Shine. I think the Fender & Gibson copies have gone the way of brands like Fenix & can command some decent-ish money on the strength of the "lawsuit" nonsense. Probably a bit of that might rub off on this if you 'Bay it, I wouldn't think £200 would be too shabby.

Shockwave - always had a soft spot for the Argus! I think the WRM lookalikes are actually copies of the Vester - at the same time those were about there was also a WRM-branded copy of a Tokai Talbo. In green-stained wood. :)

Wild Rainbow Music - an Ebay seller who was flogging Vester Argus lookalikes, amongst other things, a few years back. On came up in discussion on here a few weeks ago, I think it was being re-sold on Ebay for daft money. 'Ere we go:

It was a nice bass, except the neck was too narrow for me. No resale value though, I bought it for £100 and didn't get my money back when I sold it 6 months later.
