  1. US Fender P basses are around £1600, with which these are competing. But they're overpriced too! Fender prices have shot up more in the last 10 years than most other products in existence.
  2. I'm surprised they are heavier than the pedaltrain, looks like a lot less metal there? Looks like it was inspired by the £10 laptop stand from IKEA!
  3. Sounds like you’re reluctant to cut the treble? Set the knobs where it sounds best, don’t worry about the o’clock positions visually. Also worth noting, I think the presence control is before the overdrive, so you can boost that and cut treble to change the character of the overdrive. A bit like the character control on the VT, but affecting a higher frequency.
  4. A new 32” ‘51 Precision style bass from Chowny:
  5. New prices jumped up quite a bit, so used prices have done the same, albeit with a year or two delay since often people will sell a bass for what they thought it was worth without checking market rates.
  6. That model is like rocking horse poop, I lusted after the same one upon release and struggled to find anywhere stocking it. I think most places were still struggling to offload the 2017 versions as they were discounted heavily!
  7. You will have to make a rather severe compromise there I'm afraid. Decent 1590A envelope filters are very thin on the ground.
  8. Source Audio Spectrum is only slightly larger than those mentioned but can emulate almost every filter you could possibly imagine.
  9. Depends what dimension you're referring to as slim, but the 1025/2025 is 2mm shallower than the 1024/2024 front to back: https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/el_basses/bb/specs.html I was surprised how much fatter the 4 string felt in the hand then the 5! And the 5's have one of the narrowest nuts available in a 5 string at 43mm - although mine appears be closer to 42mm, the same as my 4 string P Bass.
  10. They seem like great, very underrated basses. Incredibly light, too. I’m also a Yamaha BB player, and the EB5 has been on my radar for some time. Never played one, but read plenty of glowing reviews from very happy owners!
  11. It just sounds and responds better than SH1 and YYZ when paired with by BB1025X and my playing style, as long as the character is pushed pretty high to focus the drive around the high mids and the blend pulled back to counteract that vicious mid boost. I like the DP3X equally as much but it's way more extreme/coloured/processed whereas the VTDI sounds more vintage/natural. The best thing about both of these pedals is they make old strings sound like new!
  12. They've just announced a new Fusion S line with tube preamps also: https://www.gallien-krueger.com/fusion-s-heads
  13. VT Bass or VTDI gets my vote. After over a decade of buying and flipping bass overdrives, if I had to keep only one it'd be the VTDI.
  14. The Mojomojo may be dark, but you can crank the treble control pretty far to bring back some clarity without it sounding harsh. If you want top end clarity it's not for you, but if you're a fan of older classic rock or Motown tones, it delivers in spades.
  15. Gibson EB5 is well worth a look. They seem very underrated, and sold with massive price cuts when they bring out a different spec/colour each year. I’ve heard they are usually around 7.5lb. There’s one here new for £629, you can ask the shop to weigh it: https://www.expressmusic.co.uk/products.asp?code=263566&name=gibson-eb-t-5-string-bass-2017-satin-vintage-sunburst-clearance
  16. Yeah, it was his comments about noise that put me off trying one, but when I eventually did I found it to be the quietest compressor I've ever tried!
  17. Good to see the Tone Hammer in there! I'll wait for the Duo Cortex though!
  18. ... which is a great feature that sadly it looks like you can't do on the Pod Go! A lot of the FX have built in blends however, especially the ones designed for bass.
  19. If it’s loud on the neck pickup but quiet with both, then try swapping the wires around on one of the pickups so that they’re in phase. Or physically rotating one of the pickups 180 degrees might have the desired effect also.
  20. There was a used Spectracomp going for £40 on here the other day which might still be around. The fact it's multi-band works great for slap and agressive styles, where you want more of a limiting effect on the top end but still want a big pop coming through in the low end.
  21. I was talking about in relation to the HD500X - an older cheaper model that allowed parallel chains of amps/fx. This Pod Go may have the better FX models, from the Helix but the whole draw of the Helix line for me personally is the ability to create signal splits and crossovers. But if their target market is guitarists who mostly don't care about that stuff, I can see why they opted for a simplified interface.
  22. Sounds like a downgrade for more money then!
  23. Sounds to me like you might not be able to do that on the Pod Go, one single chain only? I've not confirmed this though.
