1. I thought they were the same person? Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time? And Flea is an anagram of Les Claypool, almost. The real give away though, is that they both have shoes.
2. My fretless roadster is solid black, maple neck, but with only one control cavity at the back. Flat Erik you have two covers on the back, is one a battery? Is that original? Mine is passive, though I don't know if it's original electronics.
3. I was reading this last night and ordered a micro thumpinator immediately. Sounds pretty useful.
4.
Oh and ego's must be checked in at the front door They can be collected after...
I don't think my ego would fit in the door of Henrys anyway.
5. I'm in for that. Should we bring some amps and basses for others to try out?
6.
I am tempted to ditch the HD350, possibly the cab, and go all GK.
Can I have first dibs.
7. I only joined this site before christmas to see what it was all about, I've already bought a musicman stingray 5 and a compressor, and I have serious EBS GAS.
8. I have a winter bike, so I'm not fairweather, but Moffat might be too far for me, even with heated grips. I'll see if I can make it and try and get a lift.
9. Catchy title, I think you should run with it. Let me know if you need any help with the organisation, otherwise I'll just see you there.
10. Anyone up for a mini bass bash in Edinburgh soon? Just a meet up at a rehearsal room or something along those lines?
11.
Moffat is a great run on the bike so no excuses there.
A little cold this time of year for a run to Moffat on the bike, plus I'd like to bring a bass with me, that's the only problem with bikes, they don't take basses very easily.
12.
Good here init Oh and one day you'll thank your dad and post on here saying how much you miss your first bass A
+1
13.
Throwing it out there, as for those of us who can't make Moffat and who live a little further north into scotland, Opinion of a North / Northeast scotland bass bash?
How about perth? Easier to get to for me than Moffat. Even Aberdeen would be easier, I can get a train there.
14. Carlsbro Cobra 90, Trace Elliot AH350 1x15 combo, Ampeg B15T (I really miss that amp), Ampeg SVT with Ampeg 4x10, Trace Elliot AH350 head with the above cab, the Ampeg head got nicked SWR Workingmans 350 head with SWR 4x10 cab, I didn't take the SWR cab to Scotland when I moved here from Ireland, but I have the head with an Ashdown 4X10 cab. I also use a vox headphone amp thing
15.
Pre-owned is the way to go. I won't say second-hand, because there are some instruments that seem to have been going from Basschater to Basschater for years!
Pre-owned, or used is probably a better description of most of mine.
16. I think Flea used an old Jazz bass for alot of the californication era stuff, so you should be able to get close to his sound on your bass. I'm in the process of sorting out my Stingray 5 with new paint and pickups, but after that I'd like to put together a bitsa Jazz with a precision neck. Now, show us some photos of your bass.
17. I've never had a new bass, apart from my custom, because you get so much more second hand. It also makes me so much happier about customising them, seems silly to buy a new bass if you know there's things you're going to change straight away.
18. Hi Stuart, I'm in Edinburgh too. Let me know if I can help out.
19.
You'll need left-handed pickups for that.........
I'm not sure if that's a joke? Are the pole pieces different? Just realised, even if they were you could just flip them around. Sorry, idiot moment over.
20. Chris is a great friend of mine, he made me a beautiful Fretless acoustic, but most importantly he is a keen motorcyclist.
21.
Jesus. What a total waste of my time that was. And what an irritating bastard.
Hahaha, he was a pain in the @$$, I'd have been impressed if he'd managed the guitar solo at the same time though.
22. I think you should just keep an eye on your tanglewood, make sure it's all working well and keep the £50 to put towards an aria or ibanez. You can pick up some lovely basses for under £200 in the for sale section, and £50 is a big chunk to put towards that. I have an Aria pro2 integra, and it is lovely to play, I replaced the P pickup, and disconnected the J, and now it sounds great too. I don't know much about Ibanez, but someone will be along soon.
23. I play in a band called Metaltech, a Rock Techno crossover, though I tend to be slightly on the funky side of bass playing. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, and we've been doing pretty well at festivals and getting alot of support slots for industrial bands. www.metaltech.me
24. Lots of valid opinions here, I love a straight cover played perfectly, but I love when a band make a song their own (Hendrix version of All along the Watchtower is the pinacle of this). The most important thing is the song, even writing original material, we have a song that has a bit of an AC/DC feel to it, and the bass is mostly thumping A, a little embillishment in the chorus, but still pretty simple. I tried to make it more interesting, but nothing drove the song as well a a simple root note.
25. Put an ad up in the sale section, you never know who wants what, or when, it might take a while, but you'll find someone willing to trade for something you want.
