1. I didn't go to the show, it's too far and I had other commitments, but I understand how irritating the noise must have been, and the mediocre playing by 100s of people at the same time, I don't understand the hatred for slap bass though. I play bass, I like to try and be as good as I can at all styles, it keeps it interesting for me and makes it easier to find work in function bands. I don't slap a lot, but my ability to play the solo in "Call Me Al" got me a few well payed gigs recently, and I introduced RHCPs higher ground to the set too, which goes down really well when we play it. In my original band, rock/techno crossover, I use slap (sparingly) in a few songs and I play whatever I think will enhance the song, even if it means using a plectrum!!! Each to their own, but I think variety is the spice of life, when I'm practising at home I like to play and hard, fast and funky as I can, when I play covers I like to try and play them as they were written and when I play original songs I try and write a bass line that will sound good and hopefully be interesting too. All of which doesn't leave me with much time to get annoyed about other peoples style or taste.
2. I routed mine out, but to fit an extra humbucker, so I don't think I lost any weight. Sounds good though. You could just take loads out under the scratchplate and glue in a block of lighter wood
3.
Cannonball - The Breeders
This is stuck in my head now, it is a great intro.
4. I think Flea inspired me to start playing bass, but I got really enthusiastic for it when I learned "Lounge Act" by Nirvana it was the first song I thought myself and I still think it's a great bass line.
5. The wal is beautiful, the sandberg is lovely, I'm sure the parker is lovelt to play, but it's not as good looking as the others.
6. Here's my baby, it started life as a standard single pup SR5 with a natural finish It's got 2 Nordstrand pickups, a John East Preamp with bass, sweepable mid and treble controls, a (3 way) pickup selector switch and a coil tap switch. All the work, including the translucent blue finish was done by Chris Mcintyre at http://www.mcintyreguitars.com/ It's set up really nicely, and I love the finish, but more importantly it sounds amazing, the East pre is great it's almost too much control and with the bridge pup on it sounds like a Stingray, the neck pup is a bit boomier and together they sound exactly as I hoped it's mellower than a stingray but still agressive and ballsy. Running either pup as a sigle coil sounds a little thin, but it might work in certain band situations, but the 2 together as single coils sound lovely not quite a jazz but maybe a stingray/jazz hybrid. I still haven't spent alot of time playing with the tone controls, so I'm sure I'll fine tune all the combinations to sound even better.

I have an audition tonight and a rehearsal tomorrow, so I'll report back later but so far I love it.
8. Here's my Chris Larkin acoustic.
9. Both my guitarists use them to great effect, but they are always in drop D, actually one of them has 7 strings, so I have no idea how he's tuned, but they work well for what they do. I used to have a strat with a fender trem and if you looked at it funny it went out of tune, my current strat has a fixed bridge for that reason. I think I'm saying if you must have a trem, make it a lockable one so it stays in tune.
10.
Got the intonation spot on and the bridge saddles are in a perfect straight line too.
I once restrung my Precision and all the tuners were flat along the head when I tuned it up. It was great while it lasted. OOOO
11. Looks like a great bass for the money. Definitely worth keeping and putting a bit of work into.
12. Up
13. Saturday bump.
14. I used it at a rehearsal last night. It is a great bass.
15. I'll try an get in for it.
16.
I had one of these and I can definately recomend it, I fitted a J-retro kit to mine, as I have done with the L2500 that I own.
Thanks, it is great. I'll really miss the passive/active/active with treble boost switch, it's so versatile.
17.
The singer, in one of my bands, refuses to sing when I can't play and they have to get a dep (of course she's a bit of a diva).
When is your next gig in Edinburgh?
18. I think the turning point or magic moment for me was the first 4 bars of Know Your Enemy by RATM, I was 15 when I first heard it and I'd just started playing bass, and that accelerated everything. Tim Comerford is still my favourite player, but it's actualy the guitar part in the intro I think is the magic moment.
19. When I left Ireland I had to stop playing in my old band Fred, they replaced me with someone totally different. They could have gotten a player similar to me, but they took on a guitarist who was is a great musician and more importantly had a personality to fit the band. It totally changed their sound, they could have gotten a "better" bass players, but sometimes it's more important to have the right person. Fred are still going in Ireland, and beyond and they are awesome. I think the same would happen if I left my current band, I don't think I would be directly replacable, but they could adapt and use somebody elses strengths to work for the songs in a different way.
20. I used to be house-engineer in a pub in Cork, I had a welsh band in and the singer-guitarist blew a fuse when his lips touched the mic. He was lucky that nothing happened to him. The band started going on about it being a dodgy venue, and how I was a sh!t engineer, I checked everything and (eventually) found out that the earth wire in his amps plug was disconnected, he kept saying that it shouldn't matter and it was still my fault, but it does matter, and it certainly wasn't my fault. I never had any other problem when I worked there, but I still aways bring a phase tester in my gig-bag and check before I touch any mic in any venue.
21.
nice bass
I know, and I really do regret having to sell it. It certainly won't be the last one I own.
22. Send me a PM and we can sort something out.
23. I'm going in tomorrow, hoping the finish is errr, finished. Then the new pup can go in, hopefully I'll have a few pics tomorrow and a finished bass early next week.
24. It is with a heavy heart that I am selling my beloved L2500T, I've been trying to sell my American L5500 for a while, but it seems the L2500s are more in demand. Truth be told I prefer the Tribby L2500 than the L5500, but one has to go, I'm in a flat and, as patient as she is, my beloved insists on one-in-one-out and as my Stingray project is nearly finished one has to go. The bass is in good condition, it's got surface scratching on the back, very light though and only visible at certain angles. There is also some paint missing in the recesses for the neck bolts, I've tried to show this in a photo. It's a beautiful blue-burst with a rosewood neck and it's got 2 week old Ernie Balls on it. I'd like £400 or very near offer, and collection would definitely be preferred, I don't want it to be damaged by parcelforce or even worse lost. I'd also prefer someone to try before buying, as I love it but someone else may not. I'm in Edinburgh, so I can meet at train station/city centre etc. I've added phone pics but I can get some decent pics up if anyone wants them. This is the pic of the neck bolts, some slight paint flaking inside the recesses Hope you like it as much as I do.
25.
nobody buys my stuff
Aye, I've bought loads of stuff with no problem but I can't seem to sell anything. I suppose it might help if I tried.
